1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee Sexual Immorality

“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18

When God created Adam and Eve He told them to go and populate the world. They were to be together and have many children. God had created marriage and within marriage He created sex and the sexual desire for the spouse. In and of itself, sex is not a sinful thing. It can become sin when used wrong.

Currently the hot topic for many believers is the immorality of homosexual lifestyles that is become a common, accepted place in society. Many are very quick to point out that it is sin. While this is true, many are forgetting that they are many other sexual sins still occurring, often inside the church.

Every where a person looks you can see pornography. Men and women are constantly viewing pornography as acceptable. Inside their minds are sexual sins going on. Many people will never commit the actual sin of sex outside of marriage, but many will fantasize about it in their minds or they will watch it in movies or books. This has become an acceptable thing to do.

These types of immorality are against the person’s own body. Physically it can bring on diseases and problems later in life. With the thoughts going on it can bring about impotency.

Paul says that you are to flee all sexual immorality. This means to run away. Refuse to think about such things. Refuse to participate in such things.

This can only be done with the power of God. God gave mankind the desire for sex, but only inside of marriage. It is not a free-for-all, any way you like, any time you like. There are boundaries.

You are supposed to be one with God. If you sin sexually, you hurt your body and sin against God. Your body is the temple of God, it is where He lives.

Are you willing to defile God’s temple with your thoughts or actions? Run from all sin. Get away as fast as you can. Flee it.

I pray today that God will strengthen you to flee all sexual immorality; that you will allow the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and sight; that you will refuse to participate in any immorality; and that God will help you be His witness in this world.
