1 Corinthians 1:18 Foolishness That Is Power

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18

Wherever you go there are people who think that Christians are crazy. There are talk shows all the time that slam Christians and think they are foolish. Looking at Christianity from the outside, it does look like foolishness. Why would God send His Son to die on the cross for people who did not want Him? Why would someone die for someone who does not love him? The cross is a crazy, foolish way to try and save the world, from the world’s viewpoint.

Most people in the world want to get into heaven. To get into heaven, they want a list of things that they must do in order to get there. People want to accomplish of the task of earning their own way into heaven themselves. Although a lot of people will take something free, many more like to work for it themselves. Many will state that they do not like any type of handouts, even when they are desperate.

When you look at what the gospel message says, it looks like a hand-out, charity. That is, because it is a charity. God’s love for you is so great that He made a way where there was no way. No man can earn his way into heaven. No man can pay the price for even one of his own sins against God.

God made it simple for a person to get into heaven. All a person has to do is believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus and follow Him. Jesus had to die on the cross in order for you to be saved.

The cross represents the extreme love and power of God. Jesus overcame the most powerful force known to man–death. He did this so you could be saved and get into heaven. He did this so that every person had an equal chance to get into heaven. Getting into heaven is not based on personal merits, but God’s love, grace and mercy.

Are you accepting what Jesus did for you?

Are you telling others the message of the cross?

I pray today that you will know the love God has for you; that you will see the power of the cross to save you; that you will boldly tell others of what Jesus did for them; and that God will use you to build His kingdom daily.
