“I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.” 2 Samuel 6:22
As King David was having the ark of brought back into Jerusalem, after being gone for a long time, he was excited. He had started leaping and dancing. His wife, Michal, thought he was being foolish and hated him for it. David told her that he would become even more undignified and humiliated in order to celebrate God more. David was excited about God’s presence coming back into Jerusalem.
People get excited when they are watching a football game, or soccer game, depending on where they live in this world. Many times people will color their face with their team colors. When a person’s team scores a point, that person will start shouting very loudly and jumping around. When the team loses a point, they get mad and scowl. They are excited about the game and are willing to let everyone know.
When God shows up, most people do not even realize that He is there. Then the ones who do recognize His presence, do not get very excited. They stand straight and dignified and quietly rejoice God is there.
Think about how great the presence of God is. Here is God, the One who created the universe and everything that is in it! He is present. He took time to be with you. How much greater is that then a temporary football team scoring a touchdown?
How excited are you about God’s presence showing up in your life?
Do not be ashamed of getting excited when God shows up in your life. Let the whole world know what is going on. This shows the world that you truly do believe in God and are following Him. It lets the world know that you are one of His greatest fans.
Do not allow the world to hold you back in rejoicing that God is there.
How do you rejoice when in God’s presence?
I pray today that you will know when God is present in your life; that you will let the world know that God is there; that you will show the world your excitement for God’s presence; and that you will not be ashamed of God being in your life.
“The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 2:14
When the world looks at Christianity and the things of God, all they see is foolishness. They do not understand why God has certain rules in place. They do not understand why a person cannot live any way he chooses or why some things are wrong and others are not. It is foolish for a person to give up things and ways in order to follow Jesus according to the world.
This can easily be seen any where you look in this world. Paul gives the reason is that they do not have the Spirit of God in them. The person who has the Spirit of God in himself is able to understand better why God has him doing (or not doing) the things he does and what God is doing. The Spirit of God is the only one who can truly understand God and He is the one who makes it clear to a believer.
Think about when you see someone you know really well does a crazy reaction to something such as running away from a small little, harmless spider. Most people think it is funny and ridiculous. Yet, you, knowing your friend really well, knew that many years ago as a child he was bit by a small dangerous spider and now has a fear of all spiders. Knowing that makes sense as to why he does what he does.
The Holy Spirit fully knows why God does what He does and has you doing or not doing something. He then gives the believer understanding and peace about the situation. The world cannot understand this because they do not have the Spirit of God in them.
Seek God’s Spirit today to guide you into understanding God more. Ask His help to accept the things God asks you to do.
God tells you that you are to walk by faith, not by sight. This can only be done when you discern through the Spirit what is happening. Otherwise, it will be foolishness.
I pray today that you will be led by God’s Holy Spirit; that you will understand what God is doing and having you do; that you will trust that God is having you do the best things; and that you will accept what God is telling you to do.
“For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” 1 Corinthians 1:25
Most people like to think that they are strong and wise, especially men. ?All over the world people are honored for their strength and wisdom. Young people are especially honored when they do something that takes extreme strength to accomplish. Tons of book are written with wisdom on how to live life and do things.
There are work out gyms located all over every city. People like to build up their strength. Some are doing it just to have the huge muscles or better muscle tone, others do it to stay in great shape for a long time.
Being in shape allows a person to be able to have the power to do things on their own. Very few people like to rely on someone else to get a job done. Yet, even with the strongest man in the world, his strength is less than the weakest point of God.
God has created everything you see, which shows extreme strength. Jesus has also conquered death. No matter how strong a person is, death will overtake him some day.
Along with gaining strength, men love to have wisdom. Tons of books (and now internet articles) are written on how to live life and do anything you want. Articles of wisdom are highly honored by most people.
Yet, again, the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisest human ever. As wise as man has been in inventing things, God is greater in that He also created man’s ability to invent things. God in His infinite wisdom created the heavens and the earth. He set in to motion the plan of salvation for all men. His plan of salvation was so simple and well laid out that many people refuse to believe it because it does not make sense to the human mind.
With this in mind, you can trust that God is strong enough and wise enough to help you in any situation you are in. Do not try to be in control of your life. Let God have the control. He will not make a mistake.
Will you always understand God? No. His wisdom is far past yours. His strength is far greater than yours. Just trust Him and follow Him. God does know what is best for you.
I pray today that you will trust God’s strength and wisdom; that you will stop trying to do things in your own strength and wisdom; that God will give you His strength and wisdom to do His work; and that God will draw many to Jesus through you.
