Forsake foolishness and live, and go in the way of understanding. Proverbs 9:6
Teenage children are known for often making foolish choices in their lives. Boys will often choose to attempt extremely dangerous feats and get seriously injured in the process, thinking that they are invincible. Others make choices that get them into serious trouble, both in the short run and long term.
Many continue to make foolish choices until they grow up, and even then, many continue to make foolish choices as an adult. It is foolish choices that has caused many injuries, deaths and sufferings in life.
Solomon encourages one to forsake foolishness in order to live and to go in the way of understanding.
Nearly every person wants to live a good life. Expectations is that living the good life only is concerned with the here and now. Everything is often focused on the moment rather than the future. People want to be happy right now without concern for their future.
When people refuse to think about the affects a choice will have on their future, they will make foolish choices. It is these choices that lead people into prison, financially broke, unwanted children, injury and ultimately death. The world is making choices that is on the pathway to eternal death.
The world will lead one on a path to death and destruction, while God will lead one on a path to victory and life.
Believers are to have an understanding of what life is and make wise choices. True understanding begins with understanding that God knows what is best and that Jesus is Life. Making wise choices begin with choosing to obey and follow God. It is in repentance and belief in Jesus that one begins to find true life.
Every day you have to make a number of choices in your life. It will be easy to follow the ways of this world and make foolish choices to walk in sin that will destroy you in the end. Reject sinful acts and behavior and be wise. Turn away from foolish living in sin and have an understanding of God’s immense love for you.
Walk in His ways and gain a true and abundant life that will last for eternity. Live the abundant life that Jesus paid the price for on the cross for you to have and live.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the way God wants you to live; that God will give you understanding of His ways; that God will give you strength to reject foolish choices; and that you will live the abundant life God has for you.
