Acts 3:12 Why Be Surprised

“When Peter saw this, he said to them: Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? Acts 3:12

A man, who had been lame since birth, had just received healing and was walking. Peter was the one who told the man to be healed. The man was now telling everyone what had happened. All the people were looking astonished and some believed that it was Peter and John who healed the man. Peter quickly points out that it was not them, but Jesus who healed the man. He asks the people why they are surprised at the healing.

Even today, nearly 2,000 years later, people still stand amazed when a miraculous healing occurs. Many will look to the person through whom the healing occurred as the one who did it. There are some people who will go around stating that they have a healing ministry.

No person on this earth can bring about a healing on their own. It is the power of Jesus that heals a person.

If you believe that Jesus died and rose again, why don’t you believe He can heal?

Often people believe that God won’t heal them because they are not worth healing. No one is worth anything because of sin, but God still loves everyone the same. God chooses to heal so that the name of Jesus may be glorified.

After this man was healed, Peter pointed the people to Jesus and gave the entire gospel message. Jesus wants everyone to be saved. If healing a person will bring about more people coming to Him, then He will do it.

Do you believe in Jesus? Or do you believe in the healing or the one person through whom the healing came? Are you promoting Jesus? Or are you promoting the person and the healing?

Do not be amazed when Jesus heals you. He rose from the dead, healing is an easy thing. Jesus can do all this and more in and through you each and everyday if you let Him.

I pray today that you will put all your trust and belief in Jesus; that you will glorify Jesus in everything that happens in your life; that you will not be surprised when Jesus works in your life; and that you will tell others about Jesus.
