Hebrews 7:25 The Ability of Jesus

“Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” Hebrews 7:25

Right before this verse it talks about Jesus living forever. Now it states that He can completely save every person who comes to God through Him. The interesting reason why He can save is because He lives to intercede for each person.

What does it mean to intercede? This is when a person goes before a second person on behalf of the first person. He will plead the person’s case for favor. Jesus is shown here that He lives to intercede for you and I. He is constantly standing before God pleading our case. Every one of us deserve only death and punishment, yet if we come to God through Jesus, we find His grace and mercy in forgiveness. Jesus is standing before God the Father telling Him that the price of death for our sins has been paid. He is seeking God’s mercy for us.

Knowledge of the intercession of Jesus can bring a person great encouragement. Often people feel alone and that God has rejected them, but that is not the case. Jesus wants everyone to succeed in every thing. For this reason He is standing before God on our behalf to get us His favor. We can only succeed if God is for us. Although God hates sin, He is not looking for ways to destroy us. He is seeking ways to save us and get us on the right path. His favor does not necessarily mean financial success or fame, although these may come also. It does mean being spiritually successful, having a full abundant life, and being filled with His joy and peace despite the circumstances. It means being successful at building His kingdom and obeying His commands.

Today you need to rest in the fact that God is for you and not against you. Seek God to find out all He has for you today and every day. Follow God with everything in you. Know that you have the favor of God on your life as you seek Him through Jesus.

I pray that today God will strengthen your belief in Him; that you will know that God loves you; that you will know that God is only seeking the best for you; that you will follow God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind; and that you will use God’s favor on your life to be more like Jesus and to be His witness in this world.
