Deuteronomy 20:1 Going Into Battle

When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you. Deuteronomy 20:1

Wars are occurring on a regular basis all around the world. While some are wars with actual guns and bombs, many are wars of emotions, intellect, standards or other such things against self, others or organizations.

Often one side can appear very large and overwhelming to the other. Choices of to battle or not are often made based on the size of both groups.

Moses told the Israelites that when they go to war against an enemy that is larger than they are, they are not to be afraid because God, who brought them out of Egypt, is with them.

Outside of fighting in the military most people will never have to face and enemy with physical guns and bombs going against them. However, everyone who is a believer will still have enemies to face.

These enemies will be friends, family members, co-workers, neighbors or other people they meet, along with society as a whole and spiritual forces working against them. The world is against the believer and will often do whatever it takes to try and take him down.

Looking at the enemies of God in the world, they appear to have better weapons and are greater in number. Some believers will back down from the battle out of fear of the over looming enemy, forgetting the battles God has already won for them.

Instead of fearing the enemy, one needs to remember the battles God has already won in his life, especially the battle over sin and death and go forward into battle. The enemy may inflict injury, but he cannot destroy the soul as God can. God is greater than the enemy.

As a believer, you will have many enemies rise up against you. The world is out to stop you and will do what it can to bring about that accomplishment.

Regardless of how large and powerful the enemy may appear to be, God is greater. Jesus has already defeated sin and death and will be able to defeat your enemy.

Do not allow yourself to fear the enemy but put your trust in God to help you win the battle. He brought you this far to not let you be destroyed.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will remember the battles God has won in your life; that God will strengthen you to remove all fear of the enemy; and that you will see God win the battles against the enemies of your soul.

Romans 16:20 Victory Is Coming Soon

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. Romans 16:15

The world is always looking for victory. People want to win and be on the winning side of any battle. However, many do not get to see victory.

For many people, the battles in life are so overwhelming, that they feel they will never be able to win. All their peace is lost, because all they can see is defeat coming with no real hope of victory. Some will give into the battle and quit fighting and moving forward.

As Paul brings his letter to the Romans to a close, he tells them that soon God will crush Satan under their feet. He then prays that God’s grace will be with them.

While the world is often in physical battles, the believer is constantly in a spiritual battle. Satan and the system of this world desire that the believer be destroyed. This battle can be in the physical, but is often in the heart and mind. The world wants to pull the believer away from Christ Jesus and remove all hope.

Although the world appears to be winning the battle, with sin being accepted and promoted more and more, there is coming a day when they will lose. Every day is one day closer to when Jesus will return and wipe away all sin for all eternity. At the moment He does that, He will also wipe away all tears, pain and suffering for every believer for eternity.

Satan and sin will be crushed under the feet of believers in the final battle of victory over sin.

Until that day, God’s grace will be with the believer who is focused on Him, keeping him in His will and peace. The believer will have peace, knowing that some day the battle will be won and finished.

Every day Satan is out to break you down and destroy you. This is a battle for your soul, that will last for eternity.

Focus your life upon God and His word. Know that there will be a day when Jesus will return to take you home with Him for eternity. Understand the peace that God gives you with His presence by your side.

It may be today, tomorrow or in a number of years, but some day you will step across the victory line with Jesus.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the peace you can have in God; that you will have the hope of the return of Jesus; that you will continue to fight the Lord’s battle in this world; and that God’s grace will be with you to guide and strengthen you in the fight.

Nahum 2:2 God Will Restore

Restored old car

The Lord will restore the splendor of Jacob like the splendor of Israel, though destroyers have laid them waste and have ruined their vines. Nahum 2:2

Over time there have been places that have been destroyed by various events that have occurred. Some have been by natural disasters, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados and floods. Others have been destroyed by people in violence or war. These have occurred on small individual levels, all the way up to national levels.

Some of those places destroyed have recovered everything with very little sign of what had happened. Others have recovered with many battle scars and many have never fully recovered.

As God is getting ready to destroy Nineveh, He promises to restore the destruction done to Jacob. Everything the enemy had destroyed would be replaced.

The enemy, the Devil, is still out to steal, kill and destroy people. When a person becomes a believer, the enemy will come in to try and stop him and destroy him in whatever means possible.

Most people think about the physical things that they lose, but there are greater things that are often lost in battles. Some of these things are peace, joy, comfort, time and love.

Jesus came to give people abundant life, a life overflowing with God’s love, joy and peace. Each time the enemy comes against a believer, he must remember that God will cause him to win in the end if he continues to follow and trust God. God will restore all that is lost, either in this world, or in heaven.

No matter what a believer has to give up or lose, more and greater things will be given in the end. The ultimate gift is eternal life in heaven. God restored Israel after complete destruction, so He can restore anyone or anything.

As you walk with God, you may have lost some things in the battle. Do not worry or give up. Keep trusting in God, the war is not over yet. God will help you win in the end.

Everything of value that you have lost in the battle against sin and your walk with God will be restored at its proper time. Do not give up on God, but keep trusting Him, looking forward to His return and restoration of all things.

I pray today that you know Jesus as your Savior; that you see God’s hand of restoration; that you will trust God in the battle for your life; and that you will know God’s peace.

Psalm 108:13 Gain The Victory

Step on mushroom

With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies. Psalm 108:13

Throughout history there have been many battles among men. One man is an enemy to another and they are willing to fight each other. The reasons for being enemies are as numerous as the stars in the sky. The most common reason for being enemies is that one wants to have full power and control.

Not everyone is able to get victory over the enemy. With man, alone, there is usually one that wins and one that loses. In order to win, one must have more power, cunning, and favor in the battle. The details are also very numerous as to what will make the winning battle.

David knew how to win the battle against the enemy. He knew that with God he and all Israel would gain the victory.

Every person has an enemy, however, the enemy is not people as the world sees it. The enemy is not nations, governments or groups. These were the types of enemies that David was facing, but that has changed for mankind. The greatest enemy that people have in the world is spiritual forces of evil.

The spiritual forces of sexual immorality, greed, pride, hatred, vengeance, violence, gossip, false gods and many more are the real enemy of every person.

These are enemies that cannot be fought with physical hands and guns. All the

laws in the land will not be able to destroy these spiritual forces. In reality, the more that laws are made against spiritual forces, the stronger they become. People love to do what they are told not to do. This is how the Old Testament law brought about the realization that men needed something more than the law to save them.

The only way to beat a spiritual force is with God’s Spirit.

As you face the spiritual forces of evil in your life, you must allow yourself to be filled with God’s Holy Spirit. Then allow God’s Spirit to give you the ability to trample down the spiritual forces.

With God’s Spirit in you, He will give you the ability to say ‘No’ to temptations presented to you. He will give you wisdom in using His word to defeat the enemy. God can give you the words to speak to crush the arguments of this world.

With God’s Holy Spirit, you will gain the victory over the enemy. You will be able to crush the enemy and all of his strongholds in your life and in the lives of others.

I pray today that you will know God’s power in your life; that you will be filled with His Holy Spirit; that you will be guided by God’s Spirit; and that God will give you victory over the enemy.

Psalm 21:1 Rejoicing In God’s Strength

Roaring lion

The king rejoices in your strength, Lord. How great is his joy in the victories you give! Psalm 21:1

Usually when a person gets a victory in something, they rejoice in how they accomplished that victory. They are quick to talk about how they did it. Sometimes they feel as though they were lucky in accomplishing that victory, while most of the time, they feel as though they earned the victory.

Those who have been successful in accomplishing victories often feel as though they are strong and can do most anything. The world likes to look at self as the one who can do it, without the help of anyone else. Many will even look down on those who have done a great victory with the help of others as being weaker.

David was a king who had many different victories in his life. There were so many battles won, that people talked about his great victories. Yet, he realized that it was not his strength that won the victories, but it was God’s great strength. He gave God the credit for winning the victories.

Believers understand where their abilities and strength comes from. They do not look, or should not look, at themselves, but towards God. It is God who created and sustains all things. It is God who gives every person the ability to do what he does.

Since this is the case, it is, then, God who gives victory also. It is God’s power working through the believer to accomplish any task or to win any battle.

When Jesus left the earth, He sent back His Holy Spirit to give the believer strength, wisdom, direction and abilities.

Instead of rejoicing or boasting in one’s own strength, the believers should be rejoicing in God’s strength. Man, in and of himself, is weak and will fail, but with God will gain great victories.

As you go through your days, look to God for His strength to accomplish any victory needed. As you win battles in your life, realize that it is God doing the winning. It is God who has given you the strength to accomplish what you did.

Now rejoice in His strength and victory. Let the world know that it was God who did it, not yourself. Let the world know that it was God who gave you strength and victory. This is giving God praise for what He does in and through you.

I pray today that God will give you victory over battles; that you will see God’s strength in your life; that you will know you cannot do anything without God’s strength; and that you will give God praise for His work in your life.
