Psalm 108:13 Gain The Victory

Step on mushroom

With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies. Psalm 108:13

Throughout history there have been many battles among men. One man is an enemy to another and they are willing to fight each other. The reasons for being enemies are as numerous as the stars in the sky. The most common reason for being enemies is that one wants to have full power and control.

Not everyone is able to get victory over the enemy. With man, alone, there is usually one that wins and one that loses. In order to win, one must have more power, cunning, and favor in the battle. The details are also very numerous as to what will make the winning battle.

David knew how to win the battle against the enemy. He knew that with God he and all Israel would gain the victory.

Every person has an enemy, however, the enemy is not people as the world sees it. The enemy is not nations, governments or groups. These were the types of enemies that David was facing, but that has changed for mankind. The greatest enemy that people have in the world is spiritual forces of evil.

The spiritual forces of sexual immorality, greed, pride, hatred, vengeance, violence, gossip, false gods and many more are the real enemy of every person.

These are enemies that cannot be fought with physical hands and guns. All the

laws in the land will not be able to destroy these spiritual forces. In reality, the more that laws are made against spiritual forces, the stronger they become. People love to do what they are told not to do. This is how the Old Testament law brought about the realization that men needed something more than the law to save them.

The only way to beat a spiritual force is with God’s Spirit.

As you face the spiritual forces of evil in your life, you must allow yourself to be filled with God’s Holy Spirit. Then allow God’s Spirit to give you the ability to trample down the spiritual forces.

With God’s Spirit in you, He will give you the ability to say ‘No’ to temptations presented to you. He will give you wisdom in using His word to defeat the enemy. God can give you the words to speak to crush the arguments of this world.

With God’s Holy Spirit, you will gain the victory over the enemy. You will be able to crush the enemy and all of his strongholds in your life and in the lives of others.

I pray today that you will know God’s power in your life; that you will be filled with His Holy Spirit; that you will be guided by God’s Spirit; and that God will give you victory over the enemy.

Psalm 21:1 Rejoicing In God’s Strength

Roaring lion

The king rejoices in your strength, Lord. How great is his joy in the victories you give! Psalm 21:1

Usually when a person gets a victory in something, they rejoice in how they accomplished that victory. They are quick to talk about how they did it. Sometimes they feel as though they were lucky in accomplishing that victory, while most of the time, they feel as though they earned the victory.

Those who have been successful in accomplishing victories often feel as though they are strong and can do most anything. The world likes to look at self as the one who can do it, without the help of anyone else. Many will even look down on those who have done a great victory with the help of others as being weaker.

David was a king who had many different victories in his life. There were so many battles won, that people talked about his great victories. Yet, he realized that it was not his strength that won the victories, but it was God’s great strength. He gave God the credit for winning the victories.

Believers understand where their abilities and strength comes from. They do not look, or should not look, at themselves, but towards God. It is God who created and sustains all things. It is God who gives every person the ability to do what he does.

Since this is the case, it is, then, God who gives victory also. It is God’s power working through the believer to accomplish any task or to win any battle.

When Jesus left the earth, He sent back His Holy Spirit to give the believer strength, wisdom, direction and abilities.

Instead of rejoicing or boasting in one’s own strength, the believers should be rejoicing in God’s strength. Man, in and of himself, is weak and will fail, but with God will gain great victories.

As you go through your days, look to God for His strength to accomplish any victory needed. As you win battles in your life, realize that it is God doing the winning. It is God who has given you the strength to accomplish what you did.

Now rejoice in His strength and victory. Let the world know that it was God who did it, not yourself. Let the world know that it was God who gave you strength and victory. This is giving God praise for what He does in and through you.

I pray today that God will give you victory over battles; that you will see God’s strength in your life; that you will know you cannot do anything without God’s strength; and that you will give God praise for His work in your life.

Psalm 20:6 God Gives Victory

Gaining victory

Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. Psalm 20:6

Everyone wants to have victory in everything that they do or tackle. They want to win in the end. Although everyone wants to win, the majority do not feel as if they are winning. Watching other people causes them to often think that they are losing the battle.

As things go wrong and do not go the way a person thinks they should go, most people think they have lost the victory and are a failure. At this point many will give up and not try any more. This is losing the battle and is failure.

David learned that God gives victory to those who are anointed. God always answers and gives the needed victorious power to overcome.

It is common for believers to struggle with the thought that they have been given victory. They see things happening in their life that does not appear to be victory but defeat. God does not appear to answer their cries for help.

Some will say that this is only about Jesus and not about them. They forget that as a believer they are anointed by God. They are anointed with His Holy Spirit, so they can have victory.

Yet, if they stay focused on trusting God and His direction in their lives, they will begin to see that there is victory all the time. Walking through a difficult situation with joy and head held high is victory. Walking through a difficult situation knowing that God is in control of it is victory. Turning away from any sinful temptation is a victory. Being a witness is a victory.

Faith in God will ultimately result in the perfect victory of eternal life in heaven with God.

God has given you victory. He has won the war for you. All you need to do is trust Him and follow Him daily. Know that God is in control and wants you to win every time.

Ask God to open your eyes to the daily victories in your life, the little steps that move you forward in your journey with God. Do not be discouraged when things don’t go your way or the way you think they should go, God is in control and is doing the best for you. You have victory in Jesus!

I pray today that you will know God is in control; that you will have faith in God; that God will reveal to you His victory in your life; that you will know the strength God has for you; and that you will walk in the victory of Jesus.

2 Chronicles 13:12 Don’t Fight Against God

Goats fighting

God is with us; he is our leader. His priests with their trumpets will sound the battle cry against you. People of Israel, do not fight against the LORD, the God of your ancestors, for you will not succeed. 2 Chronicles 13:12

Fighting among people is a common sight to see or hear about. As nations fight against nations, people fight against people. There are fights inside of families. Siblings fighting each other, spouses fighting each other, and children and parents fighting each other. There are also fights in the workplace among the people and the leaders.

With every fight, there is usually one side that will win, while the other side will lose. There are also times when neither side will really win the battle.

However, there is one fight, that will always have a winning and losing side. That is a fight against God.

When Abijah had become king of Judah, Jeroboam chose to fight against him and take back the land. Jeroboam and Israel had not been serving God, but serving false idols. Abijah warned them not to fight because they would be fighting against God and would lose.

As Jeroboam fought against Judah, the king and the people called out to God and He heard them. God rerouted Jeroboam and Judah had won the battle.

The world will often try to fight against believers and against God. They strive to destroy any message of Jesus. Yet, they continue to lose.

Some believers will also try to fight against God. God will guide them to do something and they will choose to refuse to do it. They rebel against God’s commands.

They may appear to win for a moment, but in the end they lose the battle. God is the one who is in control and will always win in the end.

Allow God to be in control of your life. Do not fight against God. God’s love for you is infinite, so He will never ask you to do what will harm you in the end. It may physically be painful, but it will build you and His kingdom in the process.

Be willing to trust that God knows what He is doing. Don’t fall for the lies that the world tells, saying God does not care or does not exist. In the end, the world will be destroyed. Do not be among those destroyed, because you chose to fight God.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will trust God’s commands for your life; that you will not fight against God; and that God will do great and mighty things through you and in you.

Deuteronomy 20:1 Going To War

Young man by wall

When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you. Deuteronomy 20:1

There are wars and battles going on all over the world. While there are many that are physical wars, with tanks, guns, and physical killings, the majority are a different type of war. They are wars of conflicts of interest, hatred for family or neighbors, temptations to do wrong and more.

People are fighting each other, even though many do not do it with guns. Often, it is each trying to get his or her own way. It is name calling, slandering, gossip, back-biting, cheating, and more.

Even though these types of wars are common, believers have, yet, another type of war. They are in a war against false beliefs, and fighting for the lives of others. The world, as a whole, is against God. They do not want the God to win.

God told the Israelites that they would go to war against their enemies. It was not a matter of ‘if they will go to battle’, but when they will go to battle. As they go to war, they were not to fear the enemy because God would be with them.

Every believer is in a battle for his own life and for the lives of others. It is a spiritual battle of an eternal consequence. The world is against the believer, and the believer is against the world.

Although there are many believers, there are more unbelievers. The believer is not to fear the enemy–this world, despite how many there are. God is right along side of the enemy. He is fighting the battle with the believer.

Each day you go out into this world, you will be doing battle against the enemy of God. Satan and this world’s ways do not want you or God to win.

Walking into the work place or some other location, the number of enemies of God will nearly always be greater in number, than those following God. You have a mission to tell everyone about Jesus. You have a job to bring people to Jesus for salvation.

As you begin to be His witness, you have taken the first strike in this spiritual battle. Do not be afraid of their great numbers. God is with you in this war. You will win, because God never loses.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be His witness in this world; that you will not fear the enemy; and that you will know God’s presence with you in this war for lives.

Luke 21:19 Stand Firm

“Stand firm, and you will win life.” Luke 21:19

The disciples were looking at all the great looking buildings in Jerusalem and commenting on how great they looked. Jesus tells them that all the things they see will one day be destroyed. He then goes on to tell them some bad news. This news was that they will be persecuted. This persecution would even come from their own families. It would be because of Jesus that they will be persecuted. He continues with the fact that they will not be harmed, but they must stand firm.

As the days pass, the time of persecution is rising more and more. The world is taking a stronger stance against Christians each and every day. Satan is on the warpath. He knows his time is limited, so he is making every effort to stop believers from believing in Jesus.

Jesus said to stand firm. This is standing on what you know is the truth. Do not allow yourself to be persuaded of anything different. The persecution will get very rough. The times will be very tough. You must be willing to hold your ground.

Know that you know that Jesus is the One who is saving you and will return someday. Know the truth that Jesus preached and live it. Do not allow others to change those thoughts.

There are some people, when under persecution, give up. They feel that God has abandoned them and all is lost. Others will feel it is not worth the persecution and pain.

Life with Jesus in heaven will be perfect and for all eternity. There will be no sorrow, pain or suffering in heaven. The suffering and persecution of today is very small and short in light of all eternity.

Do not give up! In the end you will win the crown of life. That life will be for all eternity. What better prize could there be than that?

Each day be willing to be God’s witness and live for Him. God is on your side and you will win.

I pray today that God will fill you with His Holy Spirit; that God will strengthen you to follow Him; that you will stand firm in what you know to be true; that you will not allow anyone to deceive you; and that you will know God is by you and with you in all you go through.

Hebrews 1:13 The Winner

“To which  of the angels did God ever say, ‘Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’? Hebrews 1:13

The author is talking about the superiority of Jesus over the angels. Never had God told an angel that He would make the enemies his footstool some day. Yet that is what God said to Jesus. Jesus came to the earth as a baby with the sole purpose of going to the cross to die. It was because of enemies and sin that Jesus had to go to the cross. Once He died on the cross and paid for the sins of the world He was raised from the dead. God said at that time that because of what Jesus had done there would come a day when all His enemies would become His footstool. In other words, Jesus would win in the end.

What does that mean to you today? Every day you may have trials and troubles. There will be people who will hate you and mistreat you. There will be people who use and abuse you. Jesus said you are to turn the other cheek. God said that vengeance will be His, not yours. When you believe in Jesus for your salvation you also become an heir with Him in all that He has and will get. In Jesus you will win the war with sin. In the end you will inherit all of heaven and earth with Jesus. All your enemies will be put down underneath your feet with Jesus at your side.

When will this happen? No one knows the exact day or hour. It will be when Jesus returns to take everyone to be with Him for all eternity in heaven. This tells you that you have a hope of winning the battle some day. It reveals to you that God will have His day of vengeance for all the wrong done to you. All you need to do is stand strong and follow Him in this battle.

I pray that today God will strengthen you in your walk with Him; that you will know the power He has over the enemy; that you will know the hope you have in Jesus in winning the battle; that God will strengthen you to not fall to the enemies tactics.
