John 1:29 Recognizing Jesus

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29

Every day as people walk through stores or other businesses, they can recognize friends that they see. Sometimes they will be excited to see each other, but most times they are just glad and visit for a moment, then move on.

When someone sees someone who is famous, they will get excited and want to tell everyone about the famous person. For years they will continue to talk about seeing or meeting a famous person.

As John was baptizing people, Jesus came walking up to him. John quickly tells everyone that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Jesus is someone who is known about by many people around the world. However, very few actually know who Jesus is, they only know about Him.

The world will talk about Jesus as being a good person or a great teacher. Many will acknowledge that He actually did exist and was a man who walked upon the earth for a time.

However, their recognition of Him usually stops right there. All they see Him as is just a man, like everyone else.

Those who have chosen to allow their spiritual eyes to be opened and really see, will recognize Jesus for who He is. They will know that He is the One who takes away sin. Jesus is not just a good man or a good teacher, but the Savior.

Alongside with recognizing who Jesus really is, true believers will also be willing to tell others who He is. They will get excited at pointing people to Jesus as the Savior who takes away all sin.

You must be willing to ask yourself who Jesus is to you. Are you seeing Him as the world sees Him, just a man or a teacher? Or is He the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world?

If you do not know the answer to those questions, you must read the Bible and see who it says He is. Seek God to have your spiritual eyes opened to the truth of who Jesus is.

If you know who Jesus truly is, then you must be willing to tell the world who He is. Do not be silent, but be excited in seeing Jesus and let everyone know.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will allow Jesus to remove the sins in your life; that your spiritual eyes will be open to seeing Jesus; that you will be excited to see Jesus; and that you will point the world to Jesus.

Mark 8:29 What Is Your Opinion?

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.” Mark 8:29

Everyday people talk about their opinions on what they think about different people and situations. The majority of people tend to make their opinion about someone famous based off of what media says.

If the large media likes that person and portrays him positively, more people will also like the person. At the same time, if the large media portrays the person as bad, most people will hate him or think less of him. Many allow their thoughts about a famous person to be dictated by the public at large.

Jesus had been asking the disciples who the people think He was. After hearing their answers, He then asked the disciples who they think He was. Peter said He was the Messiah.

Every year around Christmas and Easter, the world talks about who Jesus was. Most of the world tends to think of Him as a good teacher and a good person, but nothing more than that, and that is at best. Many also hate Jesus because of His strong words.

Sadly many in the church claim that Jesus is the Messiah, but are still trying to do good works to earn their way into heaven. They also do not want to completely surrender their lives over to Him, allowing Him to save and use them to build His kingdom. They are believing the deception of the media that Jesus is just a good teacher and not The King, The Master, The One in absolute control.

Each person, individually, has to make their own decision as to who Jesus is. Each one has to choose if He is the Messiah or not, if He is in control or not, if He is King or not. Their choices cannot be based off of what others think or say, but off of personal experience with God.

As with everyone else, you also have to make a choice as to who you think Jesus is. It is a personal choice that only you can make. Your destiny on this earth and for all of eternity is based off of who you think Jesus is.

If you believe that Jesus is the Messiah, your Savior, then you must ask yourself if you live believing that. Do you allow Jesus to be your Savior and in control of your life? Or do you try to earn your salvation and be in control?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will allow Jesus to rule your life; that you will know Jesus as more than a good teacher; and that you will let the world see who Jesus is through you.

Mark 3:11 Realizing Who Jesus Really Is

Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” Mark 3:11

History books are filled with hundreds of thousands of names of people that had existed at some point in time. Their stories are written about. Some are very detailed, while others are just the name mentioned once.

Most people are willing to accept that those people were real and what was said about them. The majority, though, have a different opinion about Jesus and what the Bible says about Him.

As Jesus went along, there were times people came to Him that were possessed by evil spirits. When these evil spirits saw Jesus they would fall down. They knew who Jesus really was.

Nearly all of the world will acknowledge that Jesus did exist. The majority will also agree that He was a good teacher and a good person. But very few realize who He really is. Their vision of Him is just a teacher and a good man, and nothing more than that.

All of Scripture testifies that Jesus was God’s Son. He is God in the flesh. What does this mean to a person? It means that Jesus IS the creator of all things. It means that He HAS full, absolute authority. It means He IS the only way to God. It means He IS truth. It means He IS the Savior.

When a person realizes who Jesus really is, he will be like the evil spirits that fell before Him and will fall down before Him. Those who realize this will submit to His authority and not demand their own way. They will humble themselves before Jesus, knowing how unworthy and sinful they are. And they will claim He is LORD–The Master, The Savior, not just a good teacher or a good person.

When you hear about Jesus who do you see Him as?

Do not be like the majority of the world and see Him as just a good teacher. Realize that He is God’s Son, the one and only Savior. He is the only way to God. He is truth.

Allow Jesus to be all these things and more to you in your life. Jesus can and will give you an abundant and eternal life if you will make Him LORD-MASTER of your life and not just a good, moral teacher.

Today I pray that God will open your eyes to see who Jesus really is; that you will humble yourself before Jesus; that Jesus will be Lord of your life; and that you will live your life for God.

Matthew 16:15 Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

Who Do You Say I Am

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Matthew 16:15

After having been in public ministry for a while, Jesus asks the disciples who the people think He is. They give the answers of different prophets of the Old Testament. Then Jesus asks them directly who they think He is.

The question of who Jesus is or was is still being asked to this day. Every year around Christmas and Easter, the news media is flooded with questions and answers on who Jesus was. The impact Jesus had on this world is still affecting people to this day.

There are very few people in the world today who deny that Jesus actually lived and died on this earth. The evidence of His existence is too great for any rational person to deny that He was a person. The question though that needs to be asked is not if He existed, but who was He?

People have not really changed their answer since the days Jesus asked the disciples that question. Although people today do not claim that He was one of the Old Testament prophets, many still look at Him as just a prophet or a teacher. Millions of Muslims will see Jesus as a great prophet. Millions of Buddhists will see Him as a great teacher. While both are right in that He was a great prophet and teacher, He was more than that.

Peter saw Jesus as the Messiah, Savior, Son of God. This was a lot more than just a prophet or teacher. This could also not be seen by just looking at Jesus. Looking at Jesus, He was just a regular man, just like everyone else. Looking with the eyes of God into the spiritual realm, revealed that Jesus was much more, He was God’s Son, the Savior.

As you read this, think about who you say Jesus is. Who is He really to you?

You cannot rely on the answers of other people, your parents, friends, or church. You need to have your own answer.

Read the Bible and see what it reveals about who Jesus is. Once you have made your decision, you must be willing to let others know also.

If you are truly open to what the Bible says, you will also be like Peter and realize that Jesus was much more than just another man.

Who do you say Jesus is?

I pray today that God will reveal who Jesus is to you; that you will know for yourself who Jesus is; that you will have a personal relationship with Jesus; and that you will share with the world who Jesus is.

Matthew 16:15 Who Is Jesus To You

“But what about you? he asked. Who do you say I am?” Matthew 16:15

Jesus had just asked the disciples who the people say He is. They told Him that some think He is John the Baptist, others say Elijah or another prophet.

Jesus then asks them who they personally think Jesus is.

Even today the question is still asked of who Jesus was. Every year around Christmas and Easter, there are many news articles and talk shows about who Jesus was. Some are about whether Jesus really existed or not, many are about who He really was.

In reality very few people try to deny that Jesus ever existed. What is up for debate is who Jesus was.

Even Muslims, who are anti-Christians, believe that Jesus was a great prophet of God. Followers of Confucianism will even state that Jesus was a very wise person.

People everywhere usually agree that Jesus was a very good person and an excellent teacher. Just like in the days when Jesus walked on the earth, no one can bring about a true accusation against Jesus in which He as bad or acted in the wrong.

Now every one of these beliefs about Jesus are true. None of these thoughts can be denied, but Jesus is much more.

Peter answered Jesus calling Him the Son of God.

This is where most people in the world are different from a Christian. Even though Islam accepts Jesus as a great prophet, it does not accept Him as the Son of God.

To a believer Jesus must be the Son of God. He must also be Lord. The term ‘Lord’ is to mean the ruler or authority to be obeyed.

Along with His being Lord, Jesus is also the Savior. Jesus is the only one who can save you. You cannot be saved by your good works; or by the church; or by your money; or by your position; or by your knowledge. It is only in Jesus can you be saved.

You must have this view of Jesus today: that Jesus is the Son of God; the Savior; and the Lord of your life. Anything less than this and you are missing who Jesus is. Do not be like the world and make Jesus smaller than He is.

I pray today that God will reveal to you who Jesus is; that you will know Jesus more and more each day; that you will make Jesus Lord of your life; that Jesus will make you more and more like Him; and that you will reveal this revelation of Jesus to everyone you meet.
