Leviticus 18:3 Don’t Do As They Do

Assimilation

You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. Leviticus 18:3

Adapting to the actions that people do is something that most people are very good at doing. A person gets around some new people and he very quickly begins to act as they do, regardless of what he originally believed or thought.

Foreigners travel into the USA on a regular basis to begin a new life in America. Over time, a person will still have some of his cultural habits from his original country still in him. While this is still there, he will begin to assimilate into the cultural actions and thoughts of an American. He will begin to do as the people he is living around does.

As the Israelites were in the desert, God told them not to be like the Egyptians, whom they had left, nor to be like those in Canaan, where they are going to. Both the Egyptians and those in Canaan were people who did not follow God. They lived according to their own desires in sin. The Israelites were to be different, to think, speak and act differently than the others in the world.

Believers today are to be the same way. No believer should live as he used to live prior to coming to Jesus. Nor should he act like those around him. Every thought, action and spoken word is to be patterned after those of Jesus. He is to be set apart, holy unto the Lord.

Not every believer is living like this. Many have adapted the ways of the world and brought into the church as though it is a good thing. When looked at, many believers and churches don’t look any different from the world, actively participating in sinful ways and beliefs, while claiming to follow Jesus.

In your own life, you must be careful not to adapt to the ways of the world. You must also turn from your old ways to live for God.

When you look at your own life, who do you look, act and sound like? Are you looking like the world around you? Or are you looking like Jesus, who has saved you from all of your sin, cleansed you and made you whole, set apart to be different?

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus offers you; that you will live your life for God; that you will be set apart, holy unto God; that you will be a shining light of Jesus to this world; and that you will follow God with all of your life.

Revelation 15:3 God’s Great Works

Rays of the sun

and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations.” Revelation 15:3

People and the world as a whole love to blame God for many things. They believe that God is not doing His job or is doing a bad job. When there is a sickness, death, or something goes ‘bad’, the first thing many people want to do is blame God.

All that people see in this world is the pain, suffering, and sin. They do not understand why God would allow such a bad thing, if He is such a loving and good God. A number of people have walked away from God, because of some trouble in their life. They think that God is a cruel and unjust God.

John was given a vision of people who had overcome Satan and was worshipping God. They acknowledged the great and wonderful works of God and how true and just His ways are.

When a person really looks at what God has done and is doing, all he can see is how great and marvelous His works really are. No person on this earth deserves to live, because of any one sin that they have done, and everyone has done many sins. Yet, God has provided a way to remove that sin and give them life.

God did this in a way that is fair and true for every person. No one is excluded. Every person can have eternal life.

He works in the lives of each and every individual person to bring them this eternal life. This alone is a great and marvelous work, that is true and just.

If God were to be just as the world sees it, there would not be one person left alive on this earth. Every person would have to be destroyed.

Moses and the Israelites saw the great deeds of God as they left Egypt. You must also see the great and marvelous works of God in your own life and in this world as you are traveling out of Egypt on the path to heaven.

Realize how much God has done for you and refuse to see things in a negative way. Notice that all that occurs in your life is for a purpose to bring you closer to God and make you more like Jesus. Give Him praise today.

I pray today that you will know the works of God in your life; that you will know how God is building you up; that you will know how great God is; and that you will see God’s ways are best and praise Him.

Job 27:11 Teaching About God

I will teach you about the power of God; the ways of the Almighty I will not conceal. Job 27:11

Job is maintaining that he has not done anything wrong that is causing all of the suffering he is going through. He refuses to agree with his friends that he guilty of some great sin in his life. Although he does not agree with them, he is still willing to teach them what he knows about the power and ways of God.

If a person looks online, he can find thousands of people willing to teach about whatever subject he is interested in. It does not matter what it is about, whether, cooking something, making something, dealing with someone, relationships, or politics, there is always someone who has an opinion about it and willing to teach what is known.

The reality is that most people only have very little to no experience in some fields that they are willing to talk about and teach. Look at how people talk about how a politician should do something. Many have not really looked into all of the aspects of an issue before giving their own teaching on the subject. The important thing is that they are willing to talk about what they do know. They are willing to share the knowledge they do have, whether good or bad.

As a believer, you may not know everything about God. There is no way you can know all about the power and ways of God. You do know what you have experienced in your own personal life with God’s power and ways of working.

It is these things that you are to be a witness about. You have to be willing to teach others about what you know about God.

Many believers feel that what they know about God is a private affair and not to be shared. It is their own personal belief that they do not want to “push” on others. They are trying to be politically correct.

When Jesus left the earth, He told the disciples to go and preach all that they have been taught by Him. You are to do the same thing. Do not stop teaching others about God. Some will listen, while some will reject it. It is not up to you to decide who will do what, share with everyone and give them a chance to accept it.

I pray today that you tell others about Jesus; that you will see God’s power in your life; that you will know God’s ways for your life; and that you will not fear what others think or do.
