John 10:27 Who Are You Listening To?

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. John 10:27

Every place that a person goes, there are voices that are speaking. All over the world people have something to say.

These voices that are speaking, often say things that are so conflicting from each other to the point that one may wonder what to believe. No matter what is said, there is often someone who will say something the exact opposite.

A person is required to choose who he will listen to and who he will believe is telling the truth.

Jesus said that He knows His sheep who listen to His voice and follow Him.

In the same way that there are many different voices in the world, there are also many different voices inside the church. These voices are also speaking many very different things to the people that are opposite each other and some will go against God’s word.

In order for a person to truly follow God, he must know what God is saying. To know what God is saying, one must listen to God and line it up with His word.

Every believer must have God’s Spirit inside of him to guide him and allow him to know and hear God’s voice. The things God will say will always line up with what He has revealed in the scriptures, because He cannot go against His own word.

The more a believer knows God’s voice, he will hear His voice. Instead of trying to not hear all the other voices out there, teaching false lies, he will only listen to God’s voice. There are too many voices in the world to just work at not listening to them, one must focus upon God’s voice and follow Him.

As a believer, study God’s word to know what God is saying. Focus your life upon God first, so that you may recognize His voice when He speaks to you.

Do not allow yourself to get caught up in what the world is saying. Turn your eyes, ears and heart towards God and His word. It is the only place that you will hear truth with no defects or lies in it.

As you hear what God is saying, obey Him and follow Him. God will speak life into you, if you will allow Him and obey Him.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God’s voice; that you will hear when God speaks; that you will obey what God says; and that God will strengthen you to not be led astray by the voices of this fallen world.

Acts 3:23 Listen Or Be Cut Off

Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people. Acts 3:23

Every day a person will hear thousands of different voices each saying something a little different. Some of these are very blunt in what they are saying, such as in an advertisement trying to sell someone a car. Others are not as clear, such as quietly promoting gossip in a television show each week.

These voices can be live, visual, audio or even written. Each one is trying to get others to listen and follow along.

Peter tells the people about how Jesus was sent as a prophet to warn people and guide them to salvation. He points out that anyone who does not listen to Jesus will be cut off.

Every person has to make choices daily as to who he will listen to or refuse to listen to. If one listens to every voice he hears, he will be left in complete confusion and chaos. One will say to do something, while the other will say to do the exact opposite.

Only one voice remains perfectly consistent all the time, never changing. Not only does this voice remain consistent, but it also knows what is truly the best in the short term and the long term of eternal life. That voice is the voice of Jesus.

It is only Jesus who points people towards salvation and how to live for God. His words brings life to a person, not death. The majority of words of man, only brings about death.

Those who choose to listen to Jesus, following and obeying His words, will have eternal life. Those who refuse to listen to Jesus will be cut off from the abundant and eternal life.

Jesus came and spoke words that are for you to this day. His words were not just for the disciples and the people nearly two thousand years ago.

God is right there with you to guide you in how to really live for Him and to know the salvation and abundant life that He has for you. Each day you will hear hundreds of voices and you will have a choice as to which you will listen to and obey.

Allow yourself to tune in and listen to the voice of Jesus in your life. Hear what He has to say and obey His words. Do not allow yourself to be cut off and cast out.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will hear the voice of Jesus in your life; that you will know the truth as to how to live for God; that you will obey God’s voice in all that He says; and that you will not be cut off from God’s family.

John 10:5 Whose Voice Do You Recognize And Follow?

But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice. John 10:5

All over the world there are billions of people with a voice. Each one has something to say. Some will have many volumes to say, while others will have very little to say.

People will here all these voices and what is being said. However, with all the voices talking at once, many get confused as to who they should listen to. The voices are often in conflict with each other, so people try to listen to only those they know.

Jesus pointed out that sheep will run away from anyone that they do not recognize the voice of.

Believers are God’s sheep in this world. At some point in their lives, each one has heard God’s voice and learned to recognize and follow it.

However, because they are still in this world, many have become friends with this world. Now they recognize the voices of this world and have begun to follow those voices, rather than follow only God’s voice.

In doing this, sin has been allowed to creep into their lives and become acceptable. Rather than fleeing the false lies of this fallen world, they have embraced them as truth.

One who is truly following God and seeking after Him will recognize His voice and follow it only. They will refuse to allow themselves to become familiar with the voices of this world, the voices of strangers intent on bringing about death and destroying one’s witness.

The only way a believer can know God’s voice is to spend time reading and studying the bible and spending time talking and listening to God, rather than becoming friend’s with this world.

As a believer, both God and this world has something to tell you. One will bring life, while the other will only bring about death. Keep your focus of listening upon God so closely that you will always recognize His voice, even in the middle of a loud crowd of voices.

Do not allow yourself to become familiar with the voices of this world and be led astray, away from God. Live your life for God and for God alone.

Flee all sin and voices that will lead you into sin. Run to God’s voice, so that you will have life, abundant life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God’s voice; that God will give you strength to flee lying voices; and that you will follow God above all else in your life.

1 Samuel 3:6 Hearing God’s Voice

Rabbit listening

Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” “My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” 1 Samuel 3:6

Everywhere a person goes, he hears voices. People are always talking or they are playing some thing on a radio. There are voices everywhere, saying everything.

Recognizing one voice out of all the voices can be difficult, unless one really knows that voice very well. Moms are often able to pick out their child’s cry or call among a room full of children. Despite all the noise around them, they know their child’s voice.

Samuel had began to hear a voice in the night calling to him. He did not recognize the voice and ran to Eli thinking he called him. Yet, it was not Eli who had called him. The voice was that of God’s voice. God had began to call Samuel to begin working in and through him.

With all the talking going on in this world, people are quick to listen to many of the voices around them. There are times God will begin to call them, but they do not recognize His voice. They believe that other people are being the voice of God and follow that person, rather than God.

Believers have often fallen into the trap of this world, by listening to the voices of this world, rather than listening to God. Some churches are promoting sin and the people agree to it, because they do not recognize the voice of God.

The only way a believer can begin to recognize the voice of God is to listen to Him and pay attention. They need to learn to hear His voice and what He is saying. This begins with tuning out the noise around them and focusing on God.

As a believer, you need to know God’s voice in your life. God is speaking and wants to tell you things. He is a polite God and does not shout, but speaks with a still, calm and quiet voice.

Slow down your life and tune out the world, so you may hear and know His voice. Stay in His word so you may know how God speaks, then listen for Him. God wants to tell you what is on His mind for you. Be willing to hear what He has to say.

I pray today that you will know God’s voice; that you will listen for God to speak into your life; that you will not fear what God has to say; and that you will not be distracted from hearing God by the noise of this world.
