Acts 27:25-26 Have Faith In God In Rough Waters

So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me. Nevertheless, we must run aground on some island. Acts 27:25-26

Plans are made all the time by many people. As they go into the plans, often things come up that appear to throw those plans out the window. It may feel as if there is no way to accomplish the plans.

During these times, many people give up on their plans. Some others will go into extreme desperate measures to attempt accomplish their plans.

Paul was on a ship bound for Rome. During a storm, the sailors wanted to give up, due to the danger. Paul told them that God had told him they would reach their goal, but not until after a shipwreck.

On the paths of life, many things are thrown into the ways of plans. Most often individuals have very little to no control over the obstacles in the way of reaching their goals.

Even though a person does not have any real control, God does. When God lays out a path for someone to take, He will do what it takes to make it happen all the way to the end.

There will be times when the obstacle is so great, that in the human mind and ways it points to that one should quit and give up the goal. The goal of salvation is like that. One cannot be perfect or get rid of his own sin. It is a great, impossible obstacle to personally overcome, but Jesus provided a way for it to occur.

Just as Jesus overcomes sin, He can overcome every obstacle in the life of a believer. If God has called a person on a path, He will make it occur, despite the problems along the way.

God has probably called you along some path in this life. At times it may appear as though you are getting no where and are failing to accomplish that goal.

Do not give up or give in to the ways of this world’s thinking. Do not jump overboard and quit, thinking it is over and you failed. It is not over yet. Trust God will bring you through to His desired goal that He called you to.

Hold onto the promises God has given you and believe that you will accomplish what He told you to do.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what God has called you to do and be; that you will trust God when in difficult times; that God will give you strength to keep moving forward; and that God will accomplish His purpose in and through you.

Isaiah 35:4 Salvation Is Coming

Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong and do not fear; your God will come; he will come with a vengeance; with diving retribution he will come to save you.” Isaiah 35:4

Fear is a powerful factor in the lives of many people. Things come up that bring about fear. There is death, sickness and violence all around that cause fear in the hearts of people. All over the news and social media there is articles of fear. People are afraid of many different things going on.

Most people react to situations out of fear, rather than out of confidence and strength. This fear is caused by not knowing what the future really holds. All people usually see is problems and have no real hope.

Isaiah tells the people to say to those with a fearful heart to be strong and not fear. The reason they are not to fear is that God is coming to save them.

Without God there is a good reason to live in fear. There is no hope of things getting better when God is not in the picture. There is no hope of being saved from any disaster that comes. In fact, without God, all one has to look forward to is death and destruction. Apart from God there is no real life or hope.

Fear has made its way into the hearts of people in the church. Some have chosen to take their eyes off of God and focused on the problems of the world. It looks as if one will lose and death will win in the end.

However, if one is trusting in God and remembers what Jesus has said, they will know that salvation is coming, no matter how bad things get before He arrives.

As you go through your days, you will see and experience things that are horrible. It will look as though God has left you alone. Yet, God is working in your life.

God may pick you up and pull you out of the situation, immediately saving you as He did with Peter walking on the water. Other times you may have to keep walking into danger and through the danger, waiting for the second coming of Jesus.

Ultimately, when you trust in Jesus, you will be saved and given eternal life. Jesus has overcome death and sickness to give you that life. Wait on Him to arrive and save you. This trouble is only temporary.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will choose to trust in God; that you will know the promises of God for your life; and that you will see God’s hand of salvation in your life.

Psalm 86:11 Seek An Undivided Heart

Utah rocks

Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. Psalm 86:11

In today’s societies very few people have an undivided heart. They seek many different things at the same time. Often they are loyal to something for a moment, then a few days later they drop that loyalty and begin to be loyal to something else.

Fads come and go constantly with change. These can be found in things people do, play with, listen to, or use. What is popular today, becomes old tomorrow because of divided hearts.

People struggle with what they really want to aim for. They want a little bit of everything and often end up with nothing, because they are divided in their loyalties.

David wanted God to teach him His way, so that he would be able to know and rely upon God’s great faithfulness. He wanted to have a undivided heart that would be fully dedicated to God and God alone.

While the world struggles with divided hearts, many believers also struggle. They struggle with whether to fight for things to provide for themselves and have fun, or to follow and trust in God alone for what they need.

The sinful nature rises up inside of many, causing them to want to go back to old sinful ways. Seeking to find success, or pleasure in sinful ways, rather than seeking purpose and life in God and His ways alone. Going back and forth like this, causes a divided heart.

A divided heart make a person lukewarm, whom God will in the end reject. The believer needs to be sold out to God alone and focused on serving Him alone. There cannot be two masters, but only one–God.

Examine your life and see where your loyalty lies. What is it that you are focused on a aiming towards? Seek to know God and His way for your life. Trust in His faithfulness alone.

As you find satisfaction in serving God, you will be able to live for God alone. In living for God alone, you will no longer have a divided heart that goes back to the old sinful ways. Temptation to live in sin will lose its grip upon you when you are sold-out to God alone.

Ask God to reveal His faithfulness to you and to give you an undivided heart that will be loyal to Him.

I pray today that you will know the faithfulness of God; that God will reveal His path for your life; that you will trust in God alone; that you will have a heart sold out to God; and that God will give you an undivided heart.
