Revelation 15:3 God’s Great Works

People and the world as a whole love to blame God for many things. They believe that God is not doing His job or is doing a bad job. When there is a sickness, death, or something goes ‘bad’, the first thing many people want to do is blame God.

All that people see in this world is the pain, suffering, and sin. They do not understand why God would allow such a bad thing, if He is such a loving and good God. A number of people have walked away from God, because of some trouble in their life. They think that God is a cruel and unjust God.

John was given a vision of people who had overcome Satan and was worshipping God. They acknowledged the great and wonderful works of God and how true and just His ways are.

When a person really looks at what God has done and is doing, all he can see is how great and marvelous His works really are. No person on this earth deserves to live, because of any one sin that they have done, and everyone has done many sins. Yet, God has provided a way to remove that sin and give them life.

God did this in a way that is fair and true for every person. No one is excluded. Every person can have eternal life.

He works in the lives of each and every individual person to bring them this eternal life. This alone is a great and marvelous work, that is true and just.

If God were to be just as the world sees it, there would not be one person left alive on this earth. Every person would have to be destroyed.

Moses and the Israelites saw the great deeds of God as they left Egypt. You must also see the great and marvelous works of God in your own life and in this world as you are traveling out of Egypt on the path to heaven.

Realize how much God has done for you and refuse to see things in a negative way. Notice that all that occurs in your life is for a purpose to bring you closer to God and make you more like Jesus. Give Him praise today.

I pray today that you will know the works of God in your life; that you will know how God is building you up; that you will know how great God is; and that you will see God’s ways are best and praise Him.

Philippians 4:8 What To Think About

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

The mind is a very powerful part of a human being. Doctors have yet to fully understand the brain. The brain can work faster than the fastest computers and can process more problems.

It is a well-known fact that how a person thinks can greatly determine success or failure. If a person tackles a problem thinking he will fail, most likely he will. If he tackles it expecting success, the chances are much greater at succeeding.

Doctors have documented how some people die when they should have survived a sickness or injury because they did not have the mind-set to live. At the same time others beat the odds because they chose to live and make it.

With God and the Holy Spirit in a person’s life this increases the odds of success exponentially. Paul tells the believers to think on good things. One is to think about what is right and pure. All these things that one is to think about are the things of God.

It is easy to fill your mind with the sinful garbage of the world. Look at the news, movies, television shows, music, books, magazines, and things sold in stores.

You must turn your focus away from the garbage to the things of God and what He is saying and is doing. When your mind is focused on God and the things of God, you will be set to succeed.

You may not succeed in the eyes of the world, but you will succeed in the things God has for you. God will be able to make you more like Jesus everyday. He will also be able to use you to draw others to Jesus.

What are you thinking about today? Is it the garbage and cares of this world? Or is it the things of God?

I pray today that God will open your mind to His things; that you will think about the things of God; that you will set your mind and heart on what God is saying and doing; that you will turn away from sinful thoughts; and that God will use you to bring others to Jesus.

2 Peter 2:19 False Freedom

“They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity–for ‘people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” 2 Peter 2:19

Peter continues talking about the false prophets and what they are like. The previous verses talk about how they are cursed and walking the wrong path in life. Now he talks about their offering freedom.

In America, freedom is a highly treasured privilege. Every person loves his or her freedom to say and do what they desire. All around the country you hear about the rights of freedom of speech and action. Very common today is the freedom to live in a homosexual relationship with all rights given. For a long time there has been the fight of a woman’s right to have an abortion.

This country was founded on the principle of freedom. One of the great freedom’s fought for was freedom to worship God as you desire. Although this freedom is still in effect in our country it is slowly diminishing.

The world now wants a new type of freedom. They want freedom from religion. This is freedom from being held accountable for their actions. It is freedom from having to follow a correct set path.

Although it looks like freedom to be able to say and do whatever one desires, it really is not. This freedom is false. It is in all reality slavery. Each person is enslaved by the sinful acts he desires to do. People often talk about how they cannot help doing what they do or living like they do. There is some truth in this. They are slaves to sin.

Every person is born in sin. Only by accepting what Jesus has done for him a person can be set free from that sin. Only Jesus has the power to overcome sin. Only Jesus can break the hold of sin upon a person’s life.

Only you and God know what bondages you have in your life. Ask God to reveal what those bondages are. Ask God to help break those bondages. Live for God and live in real freedom. It may seem like bondage to live the conservative lifestyle that God desires, but it is only for your best. Following Jesus gives you the freedom to live life abundantly for God. Choose this freedom, not the false freedom of the world.

I pray that today God will guide you into living in His freedom; that God will break the bondage to sin in your life; that God will fill you with His Holy Spirit to have power over sin in your life; and that God will help you to live the true life of freedom in Jesus.
