Romans 12:9 Sincere Love

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Romans 12:9

Love is a word that people use very loosely. Nearly everything and anything can be loved, yet while being loved is being destroyed.

While people claim to love others, very often they are leading those very same people down a path of destruction. The world does not have a true standard of what real love is about. Love is often what is in it for the person doing the loving at the moment, with no regard for the future.

Paul tells the people that love must be sincere. This can be done by hating evil and holding on to what is good.

Jesus was the perfect example of what love truly is and how it must be sincere. He was willing to give His life for those who hated Him. He stood up against evil and held onto the Father, who is good.

Claims to love God and others abound inside the church. At the same time these claims are made, people hold on to sinful habits or sinful things.

True and sincere love will flee anything this evil or has the appearance of evil.

It is common for people to watch evil movies, or step into some other evil action, immediately after going to a church service and worshipping God. They don’t hate what is evil, but love evil, when it is in the form of entertainment or for their short-term benefit.

Sincere love will not make excuses for allowing for evil, but will hate all forms of evil. The focus of a believer will be to please the Father, which is being holy and living a holy life, holding on to that which is good. This is done out of love, not to earn salvation.

You must be willing to ask yourself if your love is really sincere.

When you have some free time to do whatever you desire, what is it that you are willing to do? Do you allow yourself to step into things that are evil? Or do you choose to hold onto the things of God that are good and holy?

Find out what God calls good and focus on those things. Do not allow yourself to be caught up in the evil things of this temporary world, but be caught up in the things of God that will last for all eternity.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will have God’s true love in your heart; that God will strengthen you to hate what is evil; that you will cling and hold on to the good things of God; and that your love will be sincere before God and all men.

Revelation 21:5 All Will Be Made New

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5

Starting completely over is something that most people do not care to do. It means a complete turn over of the way everything is done. Most like to be able to make some small changes, but continue with the way things were.

There does come a time when starting over is the best thing to do. It gives a person or business a chance to do it better the second time.

John sees Jesus on the throne saying that He is going to make everything new. Heaven and earth are to be destroyed and made new again.

God has always been a work at making things to perfection. When man chose to sin, God immediately began to work on removing all sin and bringing everything back to perfection.

Since man has sinned, the world is filled with decay and death. Life is very limited upon the earth. Problems abound everywhere.

The new believer in Jesus is to become a new creation in Jesus, the old passing away and all becoming brand new. He is to no longer live a life of sin, filled with death and destruction. This is the beginning of all things becoming new.

When Jesus returns, He will destroy the heavens and the earth, because they are filled with the corruption of sin and death. God will not leave everything as destroyed.

Just as with the believer becoming new, God will also make a new heaven and a new earth. In heaven, the believer will also be made perfectly new with a new body, new mind, and new heart. Everything will be started over with perfection for all eternity. It is the hope that the believer can look forward to.

As you are going through your days, you will have many struggles and a lot of pain. It may feel as if the pain and suffering will never end.

Read what Jesus said, that He will make everything new. He will allow for a restart that is done in perfection. Jesus will complete the work that He has set out to do when He returns. Hold on to that hope and believe the words of Jesus, because everything He says is trustworthy and true.

In Jesus you have a bright hope for tomorrow.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the hope you have in Jesus; that God will give you strength to continue to grow in Jesus; that God will make you a new creation; and that you will trust God’s word to you.

Revelation 15:3 Recognizing God’s Great Deeds

and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations.” Revelation 15:3

All over the world there are people who have been recognized for what they have done. Inventions created, social work done, businesses started, products made, music, art, and more.

For some, whole museums are established to honor their work. For others, classes have been created to study their great works. The world is quick to recognize the works of a person, but often ignore God’s work.

In his vision, John sees all the believers, who had overcome the beast, singing and praising God. They sing about the great and marvelous deeds of God, confessing that His ways are true and just.

While most of the world rejects God and what He has done, those who have opened their spiritual eyes will be able to see what God has done. The very beginning of God’s great work can be seen in nature, the beautiful sunrises or landscapes and plants. The world sees nature as an act of random chance, while the believer sees God’s mighty hand of power at creation.

As the believer grows in his faith in God, he can begin to see how God works things in his own life. The peace that occurs during difficult times. The provision when there appears to be nothing left. The direction provided when there seems to be no way. The protection from the enemy’s attacks. The needed comfort during times of great sorrow.

And much more. Instead of ignoring these things in his life, the believer should sing God’s songs of praise. He should recognize God’s great and marvelous hand at work in his life. This does not need to wait until one gets to heaven, but can start today.

Take some time to see what God is doing or has already done in your life. As you begin to see God’s hand in everything, you will be amazed at how great God is. God is always faithful and just in what He does.

Now take time to sing praise to God for what He has done in your life. Along with praising God, be willing to tell others about all the marvelous deeds God has done. Doing these things will give God praise and fill your heart with joy.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will open your spiritual eyes to see His hand at work; that you will recognize all the things God has done and is doing in your life; that you will praise God for His great deeds; and that you will be a witness of He works to others.

Philippians 4:8 What To Think About

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Philippians 4:8

Every person on this earth think about many different things. Everything that they watch or listen to is something that they think about.

Most people do not care very much about what they allow to be put into their minds to think about. Many of the things they watch or listen to is done just for entertainment and see just that way.

As Paul finishes this letter to the Philippians, he tell them to think about certain things. They are to only think about things that are: true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy.

The world has many things that it wants every person to think about. Their movies and music will promote every type of sinful activity possible with no shame. Thinking about any type of sinful activity is a leading to death, not life as the world would have one believe.

Anyone who does not agree with the world’s way of thinking, is looked down with hate or shame. In fact, in many places, including America, there are rules in place that if one speaks against many thoughts or activities, he is listed as a hater and a criminal and can be fined or put in jail.

Many believers, have caved into the world’s ways of thinking. They claim it is good to watch movies promoting sin in order to understand how the real world is.

The true believer will live differently than the world. He will be in the world, but not of the world. His thoughts and actions will be from above, led by God, not self or this world. He will only think about things that will honor God and pray about things that do not honor God.

Take a moment to think about what you like to think about. What is it that you enjoy watching or listening to?

As you examine what you watch and listen to, determine if those things honor or dishonor God. Do these things bring you closer to God or further from God?

Be willing to allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in what you are thinking about. Meditate upon the things of God, not the sinful things of this world.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will think on things that honor God; that you will allow the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts; that you will fill your mind with God’s word; and that you will live for God and not for self or this world.
