Revelation 9:20 Refusal To Repent

The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshipping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood–idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Revelation 9:20

The majority of the world does not believe in God. They have chosen to follow the idols of this world, seeking self-pleasure.

Focus is placed upon the physical things of this world and immediate pleasure, rather than the eternal. Even as things go bad and people are dying, the world, as a whole, looks to trying to fix things their own way, refusing to seek God.

In John’s vision of God judging the earth and killing many people, the rest of the people refuse to repent and turn to God. They continue to worship idols rather than the true God.

At times in America’s past there have been some major disastrous events that hit America. During those times many would turn to God in repentance and seeking help. As time has gone along, fewer and fewer seek God during times of trouble.

This occurs in many places around the world. Rather than turning to God, they get angry with God and seek their own idols to help.

The world believes that their own idols of fame, fortune, and personal strength can help them in any and every situation. Doctors and scientists are sought out to solve every situation. God is rejected, despite the failures of their own people.

As the time of the return of Jesus gets closer, people will grow more and more cold to God. Rejection of God will increase, despite the death all around them.

Every believer must keep His focus and trust upon God, rather than upon the false idols of man and this world.

During times of trouble, sickness and death you have a choice to make. You can choose to seek the ways of the world to solve the problems, rejecting God. Or you can choose to seek God and trust Him to guide you through the situations.

The ways of the world follow false gods that cannot do anything at all, but lead one to death. Take time to seek the one and only living and true God. Repent of your sins and accept His forgiveness. Worship God and God alone and receive life that will last for eternity.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will seek God in every situation; that God will strengthen you to turn from the idols of this world; and that you will worship God and God alone.

Matthew 21:44 Are You Broken Or Crushed?

Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed. Matthew 21:44

People in authority are there for a reason. They are in their position to ensure others learn and follow the procedures to get something accomplished.

Some people hate those in authority, because they desire to do things the wrong way or by cutting the corners and cheating the system. When they are caught, they are often punished or removed.

Those who follow the procedures are able to remain despite the pain of following all the regulations.

After quoting a verse about the stone being rejected, Jesus said that the one who falls on the stone will be broken, but the one on whom it falls will be crushed.

Ever since the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden, God had a plan to save every person. It would be done in procedure in which it was done by God and not by man himself. The final process of the salvation would be considered the capstone of the building of God’s kingdom.

This capstone would be the death and resurrection of Jesus. Jesus lived the perfect, holy life before God and man, thus was given all authority by the Father. He is able to judge and save anyone and everyone.

The person who recognizes his sin against God and his need for forgiveness and salvation, will fall upon Jesus for help. He will be broken before God as he turns his life over to Jesus. Afterwards he will be given eternal life.

Those who reject what Jesus has done will, in the end, fell the crushing power of His wrath because of their rejection. Although they may live a time here on the earth, in the end they will be condemned to death in hell for eternity.

God has given you a choice as to whether you will accept and follow Jesus or not. If you are willing to recognize your sin and need for Jesus, you will allow yourself to be broken in order to gain eternal life. You will allow Jesus control over your life.

If you choose to reject Jesus and what He has done for you, you will have only His wrath to look forward to that will crush you for all eternity.

Allow yourself to be broken before Jesus and let Him be ruler over your life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what God wants of you; that you will allow Jesus to rule over your life; that you will be broken before God; and that you will allow God to build you into the person He wants you to be.

John 8:10-11More Than No Condemnation

“Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you, Jesus declared. Go now and leave your life of sin.” John 8:10-11

Some leaders of the Law had brought a woman to Jesus who had been found guilty of adultery. They wanted to see if Jesus would have her stoned as according to the Law. Jesus challenged them that anyone without sin could cast the first stone. No one did and they left. He then tells the woman He won’t condemn her either, but she is to leave her life of sin.

People love to point out that Jesus did not condemn her. They love to see the forgiveness that Jesus had. All of this is true and very good, but Jesus did not just stop with not condemning her, He told her to leave the life of sin.

Forgiveness is great but there must be more. There must be a change. The repentance must include a turning away from the sin.

Many people want to be able to continue living in their sin while asking God to forgive them. They will also tell other believers that they must be forgiven because they are sorry for the sin, yet they will not flee the sinful activity.

God is more than willing to forgive you. The reason for the forgiveness is for you to have a chance to change and start over. This gives you the ability to do things correctly, not to go back into the same sin.

Along with your own personal changes, you must be willing to forgive others, then tell them about the need to change. Believers need to tell others that living the life of sin is wrong once you believe in Jesus. Encourage others to turn from the sin and fully follow Him.

Are you turning away from your past sinful lifestyles? Are you encouraging others to turn from their sinful lifestyles? Are you just forgiving? Or are you condemning?

I pray today that God will strengthen you to turn from all sin; that you will embrace the new life Jesus has given you; that you will forgive others; that you will encourage others to turn from sin; and that you will love of Jesus loved.

Matthew 21:44 Don’t Be Crushed

“Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.” Matthew 21:44

Jesus had just quoted from Psalm 118:22-23, about the stone builders rejected becoming the cornerstone. The cornerstone is the most important stone in a building. It is what holds the building up and together.

Jesus calls Himself that stone, the chief cornerstone. In today’s verse, He states that anyone who falls on that stone will be broken, but if it falls on the person, he will be crushed.

Falling on Jesus is a point of giving up your life to Him. Letting Him have full control.

In life, many people feel they are in absolute control of their lives. Everything seems to be going just right for them. When a person comes to Jesus, they realize that they really do not have any control. This will break a person up.

No one likes to be told they are not in control of their own lives. No one likes to be told they are a failure and a sinner. Yet, that is just what each person is, without Jesus.

Coming to Jesus will break those walls down. He will break the arguments, thoughts, and customs of this world that has taken control in your life.

There are those who have chosen not to follow Jesus. When the end comes and Jesus returns, it will be the time the rock, Jesus, falls on them. At that point, there will be no more hope or salvation. They will be crushed and their soul destroyed for eternity in hell.

In the workplace, often a boss will tell the workers that if they make a mistake, it is better that they come forward first with it, then for him to find out second-hand. There may be a price to pay for the mistake, but it will not be as great as if found out by second sources.

In the same way, if you come to Jesus first, He is willing to forgive you. Admit you are broke and need to be fixed. If Jesus comes to you first, in the end times, He will crush you.

Allow yourself to be broken by Jesus today and receive the life He is willing to give you.

I pray today that you will fall on Jesus; that you will allow yourself to be broken by Jesus; that God will reveal faults in your life; that you will allow God to make you into the person He wants you to be; and that God will use you to build His kingdom.
