Revelation 5:12 He Is Worthy To Receive All

Lady in field

In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Revelation 5:12

Throughout time there have been men and women who have been considered worthy of certain honor, wealth or power. They have lived lives that was very good for what they would receive or should receive.

Some have worked very hard to earn the money that they have received. Others have done very well at management and use of authority to be worthy of power. Some have helped others to a level to be worthy of honor.

However, no person has been worthy of everything, except one–Jesus. Jesus is the only person who was completely perfect, never doing anything wrong, yet was crucified on the cross for the wrongs of  every person who ever lived. He has done more than any other many has ever done. Jesus is worthy to receive everything.

Two of the things listed that He is worthy to receive is power and honor. While most believers will agree that He is worthy to receive these things, many do not give Him these things.

Every believer needs to allow Jesus to have all power over his life. It is God who should be controlling every thought, word and action in the life of a believer. Yet, many believers do not give Jesus every area of their lives.

As this does not happen, they are also taking away His honor. Claiming to be a follower of Jesus and then purposefully walking in sin, is a dishonor to Jesus and removing His power.

Giving Jesus praise is easy, but giving Him power and honor takes a focused effort. It is done by how the believer lives his life for God.

Your life needs to be one that follows after Jesus in every area of life. Everything that you do must bring Jesus honor and power and praise. As you turn away from sin, you will bring Him honor and praise. As you tell others about Him, you will bring Him honor, power and praise.  As you submit to His authority, you will give Him all power.

Do not be like some and only give power and honor in word, but do it in your actions. Show the world that you have given Him all power and honor. He is worthy of it all for dying for you.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what He is worthy of; that you will give Jesus all authority, power, honor, wealth, glory and praise; that your life will be lived for the glory of God.

Jeremiah 9:1 Weeping For The Slain

Oh, that my head were a spring of water and my eyes a fountain of tears! I would weep day and night for the slain of my people. Jeremiah 9:1

As the nation of Israel was being thrust into captivity, God was weeping. He was weeping over all those who were slain, even though they were slain because of their sins. The Israelites had refused to follow God and had to pay the consequences of their decision. Even though God was just in doing what He was doing, it broke His heart to see His people have to suffer and get slain.

Seeing a wicked person suffer and pay for his crimes often brings about a lot of rejoicing. Most people are glad to see someone pay for what they have done wrong. This is true whether it is something done wrong directly to the individual or to someone else. People want to see others pay for their crime.

Even many Christians rejoice in seeing someone fall and be punished for crimes done. The more popular and greater the crime, the more the rejoicing in the fall. Many are very quick to pass judgment or demand judgment up on a person. They forget the love that God has for that person. They forget that the person is a lost child of God, whom God wants to save and love.

God does not work that way. He does not rejoice when He has to punish someone or a group of people. His heart is broken with sorrow at what has to be done. Unlike most humans, God does not take great joy in punishing someone for doing something wrong. He has every right to rejoice, because He is holy and perfect, yet, He will weep instead of rejoicing. God wants to save every person, not punish them.

As you are going through this life, there will be people who hurt you very badly. There will also be people you hear about who do very bad crimes, sometimes to someone you know, many times to those you do not know. Watch the news and you will see crimes of many people.

When the person is caught and punished, what are your feelings?

Do you rejoice with the world?

Or do you weep for those who are slain and punished?

Weep with God for those who are lost and slain.

I pray today that you will see people as God sees them; that you will know God’s heart for all people; that you will weep for those who are slain; and that you will be a witness to the world of God’s love for all people.
