Isaiah 57:20-21 No Peace For Some

Sea waves at night

But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.” Isaiah 57:20-21

Fear is something that is rampant around the world during troubling times. People fear death, fear the economy, fear the government, fear sickness, fear diseases, fear others and many more things.

Peace is desired by most people, but is seldom truly found. In the night people toss and turn out of fear because of situations that they cannot seem to control. There is something wrong and most do not really know what it is or how to solve the problem.

During this time of fear, people try to do more things. They take drugs and do things to cover up some of their fear, but it is still there.

In the passage today, Isaiah says that the wicked are tossing like a raging sea. The reason for this is that there is no peace for the wicked.

It is easy for believers to understand why the wicked person has no peace, however, there are also many believers who do not have any peace. They are just like the wicked in tossing and turning at night or throughout the day.

The reason for their loss of peace is that often they have allowed sin into their lives. A believer has begun to accept a sin in his life, not really repenting and turning from it. This has caused him to become like the wicked of the world.

God is striving to draw him back. There is conviction in the heart, because he knows that what he is doing is wrong. In his heart there is no real peace.

The good news, however, is that the believer can turn from that sin and repent. God is there ready to forgive and move forward, bringing about real peace in the heart.

Examine your life and see if you have any real peace in it. Are you tossing and turning at night with sleep evading you? Is there fear building up a wall in your life?

If these are the cases, take a look and see if you are harboring sin in your heart. Is there anything God has told you not to do, or to do, that you did or did not do? If there is anything like that, it is sin. There will be no peace.

Turn away from sin and repent. God is there to forgive you and fill you with His peace today.

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus provides; that you will turn from all sin and turn to God; that you will know the true peace of God in your life; and that you will know the forgiveness and mercy of God.

Isaiah 55:7 Let There Be A Change

Bend in road

Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. Isaiah 55:7

Changing personal ways is something most people do not ever want to do. It is something that is difficult and can often be somewhat painful.

Most people like the way they are and don’t see a reason to change. This can even be true when the change is for the better in the long wrong. Humans want the benefit immediately, not after a long time and lots of work. They want the benefits now without the hard work.

Through Isaiah, God calls those who are wicked to change their ways and thoughts and turn to Him. God is willing to have mercy upon them and free them from all guilt.

There are people every where who claim to follow Jesus, yet their lifestyle and thoughts do not show it. In fact, many will just claim that is who they are and they cannot nor will change. They stay living in a sinful way or keep on with the sinful thoughts in their hearts.

Churches are filled with people claiming to be believers, but are not willing to change. God has set a standard of living that is above the ways and thoughts of mankind. It is a holy and righteous standard of living.

One cannot earn his salvation by living a righteous life and turning away from sin, because that price was paid for by Jesus. However, turning from sin and changing the thoughts is a love response for what Jesus has done. It is showing that one is truly grateful for the salvation that Jesus has provided. It shows a change to a new creation in Christ Jesus.

As a believer, you have been forgiven and saved by Jesus. Your sins have been removed. Now it is time to change your ways and not go back to those sins or sinful thoughts. He will pardon you from your sinful ways when you turn from them.

Allow God to change you into the new image of Jesus. Be willing to forsake and turn away from old sinful habits and thoughts. Allow the Holy Spirit to change you from the inside out. Do not stay the same in the old sinful ways.

God is ready to have mercy upon you and freely pardon you. Let Him do so.

I pray today that you will know the forgiveness of Jesus; that you will allow Jesus to be your Savior; that you will turn from all sin towards God; that you will live your life as an image of Jesus; and that you will not abuse the mercy of God.

Isaiah 54:5 Who Are You Married To?

Wedding rings

For you Maker is your husband–the Lord Almighty is his name–the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. Isaiah 54:5

The view on what marriage is varies from person to person all over the world. Many see marriage as just something convenient for the moment. People go into marriage for selfish and temporary reasons.

Marriage is supposed to be the dedication of a man and woman to each other for the rest of their life. They are to focus on each other and no one else.

The real focus of what marriage is supposed to be is found in the dedication to each other. It is putting the other person before one’s own self. People will be dedicated to someone or something. Often they are dedicated to things.

Isaiah reminds the people that God is their husband. The people are married to God. He is to be their focus.

This concept of being married to God has never changed. The book of Revelation finishes with a prophecy of Jesus returning for His bride.

Believers are to be married to God–focused and dedicated to God and God alone. There is to be no adultery with false gods–anything other than God Himself.

Too often believers become like the world in casting aside their marriage. The call for a divorce or live in adultery. They give their hearts and lives over to someone or something other than God. They forsake their first love, their husband.

This adultery can happen when a believer allows sin and sinful habits into his life as he refuses to listen to the Holy Spirit.

The good news is that God does not call for a divorce, as men do. He keeps calling His bride to be with Him. He is in it for eternity, with an eternal love for His bride, the believer–the church.

When you chose to follow Jesus, you became a part of the bride of Christ. He is your Maker and God of all and now is your husband.

Dedicate all of your love and focus upon Him. God is the perfect husband I that He will lead and guide you perfectly in every area of your life. He will never fail you as human husbands may.

While doing this, do not allow yourself to fall into adultery and seek or lust after other husbands–stepping into sin or turning to false gods. Remain loyal to God alone, your husband.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be dedicated to God alone; that your life will be a one of marriage dedication to God; and that you will know His love and protection for you.

Isaiah 52:2 Break Free

Throwing dust

Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, Daughter Zion, now a captive. Isaiah 52:2

Freedom is something that most people treasure, but very few actually have. Bondage to someone or something is a position that most people find themselves in. Some of those people are in physical bondage, while many are in a different type of bondage.

In many countries like America, most people will say that they are not in bondage or captivity. They feel as if they are free, while they are in bondage. They are in bondage to debt, jobs, drugs, habits, and ultimately sin.

Isaiah tells the people of Jerusalem to break off the chains that are holding them in bondage. They are to rise up and sit on the throne, free.

Jesus had broke the chains of sin and death when He died on the cross and rose again from the dead. With His breaking those chains, He made it possible for people to also have those chains broken.

While many believers have broken some of those chains, they still allow themselves to be bound up with chains. Certain sins are allowed in the lives of some, keeping them bound to sin.

No believer needs to be bound up by sin, but can be released. However, it is a choice that has to be made. God always provides a way out of sin, but it has to be taken.

When the believer makes a choice to shake off the dust of his past and walk with God, he will be allowed to rise up above the circumstances and have God’s Holy Spirit with him. He will be free to live for God in every area of his life with no more chains to hold him down or back.

As with every believer, you have a past that is bound up with chains and sin. Jesus has made it possible to break those chains holding you down. Shake off your past and be the new creation Jesus has made you to be. Allow the Holy Spirit to empower you to be who God has created you to be.

Do not allow sin or the past to hold you back from doing what God is calling you to do. Be the witness of His saving power. In Christ Jesus you have victory, not bondage. You do not have to be a captive any longer, but free in Christ.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will allow God to break the chains in your life; that God will give you strength to turn from all sin; and that you will rise up to do the work God has called you to do.

Isaiah 49:9 Come Out And Be Free

Stepping out

to say to the captives, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!’ They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill. Isaiah 49:9

Being free is something that most people desire. They want to be free to do what they want and be who they want to be.

The world is also using the phrase ‘come out’ to be what they want to be openly. People are often told to come out and be who they think or feel that they are, regardless of what others may think or feel.

In doing this type of action, the world is promoting sinful activity and setting themselves into more bondage, rather than freedom. They are bound up in sin and are not really free to live.

God calls to the Israelites to come out of their captivity and those in darkness to be free. They are called to live for God.

Over the centuries, God has not changed His call to people. He is still calling people to come out and be set free. He calls people to come out of the world and be separate from the world and its ways.

Living by the world’s standards appears to be freedom, but in reality is bondage to sin and death. The result in living ‘free’ according to the world’s ways, will be eternal death and separation from God.

Believers are to be different, set apart. Every believer is called to live a holy life just like Jesus did. They are to come out of the bondage to the ways of sin and be set free to really live life and gain eternal life with God.

Every believer, every person has this choice to make. One has to choose whether he will be bond up in sin or set free to live.

Each day you walk on this earth, you will also have to choose how you will live. You can remain in bondage and darkness or you can choose to step out and be free.

Stepping out and living for God will result in true freedom and live. You will be able to see the reality of the life of sin and the reality of what God has for you. Because of the light of Jesus in your life, you will be able to see how you are to live. You will also be able to share that light with the rest of the world.

So, come out and be free today from sin.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will choose to follow God rather than this world; that you will come out of your sin to live for God; that God will set you free from the bondage to sin and this world.
