Proverbs 1:10 Don’t Fall For Sinful Fun

Leading away

My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them. Proverbs 1:10

Getting someone to do something is seen everywhere. The largest area it can be seen in is with advertisements. There is a not a spot that a person cannot go that he will not see or hear some type of advertisement for something.

Businesses strive very hard to get people to purchase something, often things that they really don’t need or cannot afford. They make the item or service enticing to make a person feel that they have to have it at all costs.

On a lower scale, people will often ‘advertise’ things or actions to get someone else to follow along. They are also trying to sell something as being good and fun, worth it.

Solomon warns his son that if an evil person tries to entice him into something, that he should not give in to them.

Very often, the things that are being advertised or pushed by a person are not always the best. They usually are things that pull a person away from God or take his focus off of God. It is very common for the actions to step into sinful ways of thinking or acting.

Sinful men will say that pornography, drugs, alternate lifestyles, violence, hate, sex out of marriage and many other things are acceptable and should be done. They push that these things are fun and worth it. Freedom is pushed, making the things look and sound good.

However, they are sinful and deadly. The believer must not in any way give in to the pressure to follow and walk into sin. Enticements like these are temptations to sin against God. Believers are to turn away from sin and flee it, rather than embrace it.

No matter where you go, there will be people who will try to get you to walk in sin. This can happen even inside the church. Some in the church, who are not true believers, will try to get you to accept gossip and lies, backbiting, hatred, and other sins. Flee it.

Wherever you go, there will be temptations to step into sin and accept it. Turn away from it. Do not fall for their words that sin is good and you are free to do what you want.

Instead of falling for the sin, turn to God and worship Him. Seek His strength and help to overcome all temptation. Walk with God, not sinful man.

I pray today that you God will reveal to you those pushing for sinful ways; that you will seek God’s direction to live your life; that God will guide you to turn from all sin; that you will hear God’s Holy Spirit’s guiding your life; and that you will live for God.

Psalm 89:32-33 Never Ending Love

Eternal snow

I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging; but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness. Psalm 89:32-33

Being punished is something that most people do not like. It is often painful and hard to take. The world often thinks that if one is punishing someone, he is not really loving that person.

No one wants to be held accountable for doing something wrong. It makes the person look and feel bad and no one wants that. Often punishment is done in anger and frustration. It is not done out of love.

The world has often attempted to lower the punishments to make it not feel so bad or painful. Many times punishment is completely ignored.

The writer of this psalm brings out God’s word that says God will punish sin. However, in the process of punishing the sin, He will not stop loving the person. God will continue to be faithful and loving, even while punishing.

Unlike the world, God punishes sin with the mind to correct the person, not to crush or destroy the person. His goal is to build a person back up, to get the person back on the right track.

This is done because He loves the person. The world punishes out of anger and revenge, God punishes to restore and correct, something that can only be done with love in mind.

When a person is being punished or corrected by God, there are some who think that God no longer loves him. Yet, that is not true. God’s love never ceases. God is love and can never not love a person.

Being punished is only for a short season. The believer must learn from it and move forward with God, never returning to the wrong or sin that was done.

There will be times when you will make a wrong choice in life and God may punish you some. Instead of losing heart, take joy that God loves you enough to strike you lightly. This is better than ignoring you and allowing you to stay on the path to hell for eternity.

God’s love for you will never fail. It is perfect and eternal, no matter what you have done wrong against Him. Turn back towards God and allow Him to rebuild you into the person He has meant for you to be.

I pray today that you will know God’s great love for you; that God will strengthen you to turn from all sin; that you will know the forgiveness God has for you; and that you will not fear God’s punishment, but trust Him.

Psalm 85:8 Listen And Don’t Turn Wrong

Funny horses

I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants–but let them not turn to folly. Psalm 85:8

Peace is something that most people want all over the world. They are searching for peace or ways to have peace. Yet, as they search for peace, it never seems to be found.

For short periods of time some find a little peace, but it does not last. Some will find peace in getting away from everyone and everything. Others find peace when there is no direct battles going on and everything is going their way. While each of these has signs of peace, they are not real peace and it does not last.

One of the sons of Korah states that he will listen to what God has to say. One thing that God promised was peace to His people. His people are those who are faithful to Him. However, there is one requirement, they must not turn to folly.

Believing in Jesus brings about a peace the world cannot understand. It is peace in knowing the salvation He provides and peace despite the troubles that are occurring in one’s life. This is a peace that overrides anything that is going on in life, both good and bad. Nothing can take that peace away.

Although nothing can take that peace away, one can give it away. A person gives that peace away when he turns to folly. Folly is doing anything that has no purpose or meaning, anything that lacks any value.

Living in any sin is the greatest folly a man can do. Sin has no purpose other than to separate a person from God and kill him. It is a waste of time and only brings about death.

As the world turns to folly/sin, the believer is to turn away from all folly and listen to God.

When you turn away from sin and begin to listen to God, you will know what He desires of you. You will learn of His great love for you. You will know the peace that He has for you.

God has promised you all of these things, regardless of what the world says or does. Trust that He will give them to you as you turn from sin and folly.

Focus your life on serving God and building His kingdom and you will know the peace that the world can never know.

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus provides; that you will know the peace of God in your life; that God will strengthen you to turn from all folly and sin; and that you will only do what pleases God.

Psalm 69:5 God Already Knows

Hiding lion

You, God, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you. Psalm 69:5

Doing something wrong is not uncommon for people. People do things wrong on a regular basis. They break the laws of the land or community all the time.

Sometimes these are major infractions, while often they are minor ones, but either way it is doing something that should not be done. After breaking one of the laws, however, many people are concerned about getting caught by someone.

People driving down the road will often be speeding over the speed limit some. Sometimes quite a bit, other times just a little. When they suddenly see a cop, nearly everyone will hit the brakes and slow down, hoping they don’t get stopped. This even occurs for many who were not speeding.

David had sinned against God and knew it. He knew that God knew what he had done. His guilt was clear to him and to God.

When a person breaks the law of the land it is possible that no one on this earth knows anything about it. They can often get away free from punishment or judgement.

Since people cannot see God directly, they often think that God does not see them doing something wrong. They think they are in the free and clear, because no person saw them.

However, God is everywhere and sees every sin. Not only the physical open sins that people could see, but the sins of the heart and mind.

In the hearts and minds of people, many will hate or commit a sin of thoughts, rather than physically doing anything. They feel as though God cannot see it, but He does. They may be free before man, but they are guilty before God.

The only way to get free of the guilt is to confess it before God and turn from the sin.

God sees you every action that you do. He also knows your every thought and motive. There will be times you will sin against Him both physically and mentally.

Do not try to hide it from God, He already knows what you did. Go to Jesus and repent of that sin. Release it unto Him to be forgiven. God is waiting and ready to forgive every sin you have done, for whatever reason you had done it.

Allow Him to forgive you, rather than hide it and stay condemned.

I pray today that you will know the love of God; that you will know the mercy of God; that you will know God sees all; that you will repent of all sin against God; and that you will seek to live for God.
