Mark 16:20 Go And Do It

Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. Mark 16:20

Every day, all over the world, people are given instructions as to how to do something. Along with the instructions, many are also given the tools to help them accomplish the task taught.

While many will use those tools and actually work to do the task, there are also many who reject the instructions. They choose to either not do the task at all, or they choose to do it their own way.

After Jesus had left the earth, the disciples went out and preached the gospel message everywhere. God was with them and confirmed it with signs and wonders.

The entire purpose of Jesus coming to earth was to seek and to save those who are lost. In His few years of ministry He taught the disciples how to carry on His mission.

That purpose is still in effect to this day. Jesus still wants to seek and save the lost. He is also wanting every believer to go out and pass that message on to others.

God has given every believer what he needs to accomplish His task. The bible is filled with instructions as to how to accomplish His task.

While there are some who are actively trying to accomplish God’s task, there are many who are not doing His work. Most believers are living their own life, taking care of self and not reaching out to the lost. Others are going out to do the work, but are doing it their own way, not the way God has directed them to do, thus signs are not really following them.

God has created you for a purpose. It was to have fellowship with Him and to build His kingdom. The only way you can work at building His kingdom is to follow His instructions and actually go out and do it.

As you step out in faith, doing what He has asked of you, God will pour out signs and wonders confirming His word and the work through you. Over time you will see lives changed and God’s kingdom being built. This is not done for your glory, but for His glory.

Each day God will give you opportunities to do His work and be His witness. Are you willing to do what He has taught you to do?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what God has called you to do; that you will do what God has called you to do; and that God will confirm His work through you with signs and wonders.

Matthew 2:10 Extreme Joy

When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. Matthew 2:10

Going on a long distance, cross-country trip can be slow and exhausting at times. It appears as if one will never make it to the desired destination. The road appears to just go on forever, with no end in sight.

As one gets closer to his destination, however, signs begin to appear for that destination. There is hope that the journey will be successful. Joy and excitement begins to arise in the heart that what is being sought out will be found. The pain of driving forever starts to pay off and is made worth the long journey.

Some wise men had been following a star for some time, knowing it had something of great value with where it would be. As they were traveling along, they saw the star stop over a certain place. These men were overfilled with joy and excitement to find what they were looking for.

Every person on the earth is searching for something. Often it is life or the meaning and purpose to life that is being sought out. This is often searched for in temporary things such as money, fame and position. The excitement of finding these things is only short-lived.

Believers are like the wise men who were searching for Jesus, only they did not know who they were searching for. When a person begins to see Jesus, there is an overwhelming joy that wells up within him. Seeing signs of Jesus or seeing Him brings extreme joy, because it is eternal joy that reveals life and release from the past and the dead.

This joy can be had when one is going to church to worship God with others. It can be had when one is witnessing and a life is saved. Joy is found when Jesus is discovered in any and every situation.

You can also have this joy and excitement. Seek God each and every day. Ask God to open your spiritual eyes to see where He is and what He is doing around you.

God is always at work, if you are willing to seek Him. It can be a long, tiring journey at times, but the overwhelming joy you will have in the end will make the journey and sacrifice worth it.

Do not quit seeking God, but keep traveling towards and with Him until you step into eternity.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the joy of knowing God; that God will give you strength for the journey; and that you will see signs of Jesus all around you.

Daniel 4:2 Excited To Talk

Excited boy

It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me. Daniel 4:2

When something great happens in the life of a person, he is excited to talk about it. He will begin to tell everyone and anyone about what has happened. He does not care what others think about it.

People are very quick to talk about getting a new car, a new job position, a new house, a new child or grandchild, and the list goes on as to what they want to talk about. They will also talk about the latest events in the news or the latest sports game.

The passion and excitement about what is talked about can run high. Some will agree, while others may disagree with what is said.

King Nebuchadnezzar was excited to talk about what God had been doing in his life.

Every believer has a story to tell about what God has done in his life. Many believers act as if there is nothing exciting that has ever occurred in their lives. They do not see any miraculous workings of God in their lives. Yet, they do have miracles in their life.

Just being forgiven and saved is a miraculous story itself. However, there is also the miraculous work of provision of food, clothing, housing, and more in each person’s life. The daily life of being able to breathe and live is a miracle in itself. God’s amazing provision for places of worship and other believers to worship with is something to be talked about.

Along with all of these, there are the miracles of overcoming sin and temptations that occur on a regular basis. Many also experience miracles of healings and recovery.

When the believer thinks about it, he has many things that God has done in his life to talk about.

Take a moment to take note of all the things great and small that God has done in your life. The blessings are as numerous as the sands on a beach.

Now go out and tell others about those things. Be bold to stand up and talk about God and what He is doing in your life. Be willing to boldly talk about what God has already done in your life.

The world needs to hear your story about God. Do not be afraid of the world, but let them know.

I pray today that you will see the work God has done in and through you; that you will see all the miracles God is performing around you; that you will talk about what God has done and is doing; and that many will come to know Jesus because of your testimony about God.

Isaiah 7:14 God Loves To Give Signs

Street signs on pole

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

People use and need signs all the time. Signs let a person know when something is coming up or where it is at. Signs also let a person know what to do or not to do. They can also let a person know when a change is about to occur.

They are a great guidance for people in nearly every area of life.

There are two things that people can do when they see a sign. They can heed the sign and obey it, or they can ignore the sign and keep moving in their own way. Signs are there for a reason. To ignore the sign will often mean danger or going the wrong way.

Israel had been rejecting God, yet God was out to reach them and bring them back. God tells them, nearly a thousand years early, that He will give them a sign. This sign will be the sign of a virgin giving birth to the savior with the name of Immanuel–God with us.

Even believers in God need signs to know what is occurring or what is going to happen. God loves to give a sign to guide the believer in the right path.

Just as God gave a sign of Jesus coming the first time, He is giving signs of His return. Even today people can see signs of God’s hand at work in their lives or in the lives of others. One can see signs of God’s control in situations in life or His presence in their lives. There will also be signs of a changed life of one who begins to believe in and follow Jesus.

Search through the bible and see the signs God has already given you, the promises He has made and how He has already fulfilled many of them. See how God is already working in your life.

Once you see the signs God is giving you, follow and obey those signs. Do not ignore the signs in your life. There can be signs that things are not right between you and God, make a change. There can also be signs that you are on the right path with God, keep going forward and don’t give up.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will see the signs of God’s work in your life; that you will see signs of where you stand with God; and that you will heed the signs God has given you for your life.

Isaiah 42:20 Not Paying Attention

You have seen many things, but you pay no attention; your ears are open, but you do not listen. Isaiah 42:20

God was talking to the Israelites when He made this statement. They had seen God do many miracles, they had heard the law read to them time and time again, and they heard what the prophets were saying. They knew what God wanted, yet they still rejected Him and chose to follow idols instead. The Israelites were unwilling to really see what was happening or hear what was being said.

It is very easy for a person to see what is happening and not really see what is happening. They will only see on the surface or they will ignore the signs. How many people drive down the road and ignore some of the signs? The speed limit is lowered with signs telling the driver to slow down, yet he does not slow down. Suddenly he is stopped by the police and given a ticket for speeding, all because he did not pay attention to the signs in front of him.

Many believers go to church every Sunday morning and hear the pastor preach God’s word to them. They hear the words of God, but are not really listening. As they sit in the chair ‘listening’ they are thinking about going fishing or shopping,  or the meal that day. When the service gets out, many will say it was a great sermon, but very few can tell what it was really about. They were listening without hearing.

God is speaking and doing things all the time. You must be willing to see and hear what He is up to. Jesus spoke of many signs of the times. As you go through life are you seeing those signs?

Those signs may be that a person is ready to hear about Jesus; or not to go down a path that is one of destruction; or maybe a warning of persecution about to come. God will not leave you in the dark, if you are willing to watch and listen. He will show you great things, but you must be willing to see them. He will tell you great things, but you must be willing to hear them.

Are you really listening?

Are you really seeing?

I pray today that you will have your spiritual eyes and ears open to what God is showing and saying; that you will be aware of what is happening around you in the spiritual realm; and that you will pay attention to what God is saying and doing in and around you.
