Psalm 107:2 Tell Your Story

Old books

Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story–those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, Psalm 107:2

From ancient times to this day people love to hear stories. They want to hear stories that are real and stories that are not real. These stories can be filled with adventure, love, hate, war, and peace, people love them.

Stories help one person to relate to another. It helps them get a different focus on things in their life. Most stories have some type of moral to them or lesson to be taught.

Recently it is common to hear of people coming out and telling their story of bad things that has occurred in their life at some point. After years of silence they want their story to be heard. Good things are told quickly, while bad things sometimes are hidden for a time.

The author of this psalm encourages those who are redeemed to tell their story. The story is one about how God had redeemed them. Specifically it is about how the Israelites were redeemed from the enemy and released from bondage.

Every believer has been redeemed from the enemy. The enemy is bondage to Satan, sin and death. A person was bound to sin and death and was unable to break free without the work of Jesus Christ.

Being redeemed from death and given eternal life is the greatest story that anyone could ever have to tell. This is a story of war, battle, love, hate, treachery, betrayal, honor, glory, and victory. The greatest thing about this story is that it is truth. And every person has a different story of redemption to tell.

This telling of a person’s personal story is being a witness. It is telling others what Jesus Christ has done and can do for them.

Just like all the people in the bible, you have a story to tell. You had a time you were held in bondage to sin and death. At some point you had chosen to follow and believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior. This is where Jesus redeemed you and bought you back for God.

You have been blessed with forgiveness and eternal life.

There is someone out there that needs to hear your story. They need the encouragement that they can have life and a release from bondage.

Be willing to go out and share your story. Tell others of what God has done for you. Be His witness today.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will tell others of what God has done for you; that you will share your testimony to every one you meet; and that you will be a witness for Jesus to this world.

Psalm 25:15 Where Are Your Eyes Focused?

Cat trap

My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare. Psalm 25:15

When there is a hurricane coming in towards land, most people are focused upon that hurricane, wanting to know where it will hit and how strong it will hit. As they are watching it, they begin to prepare for the strike of that hurricane. All the ‘small’ things in life suddenly take a back burner and are no longer a real concern. Many feel as if they are trapped with no where to go and are just waiting out the destruction.

During times of crisis, people are focused on self preservation. They are seeking ways to survive what is going on and how to get through it.

David had went through many different storms in his life that were set out to destroy him. Men were out to take his life and strived to set up a trap to capture him. Yet, he kept his eyes focused on God, knowing that it was only God who could get him released from the trap set to capture him.

Today the Satan and the world are out to trap the believer. Attacks are set up to destroy him. The problems that a person may encounter appear to be all around, snaring his feet and holding him down. The trap is an attempt to get the believer to deny God and fall into sin.

While it is easy to focus the eyes upon that trap and problems, the believer must focus his eyes and attention upon God, the only one who can release him. God has made a way out of every temptation. He has a path for every believer to make it through the storm or a way to get out of the storm.

To know those paths, one must have his eyes focused upon God and His word alone.

During the times of temptation or struggles that come your way, focus your eyes, all your attention upon God. Do not allow the trap in your path distract you from God.

God will fill you with His Holy Spirit to guide you and get you released from the trap set to destroy you. He is the only One who can overcome what is set up against you. Put your trust in Him alone and see His hand at work in your life.

Where are your eyes focused today?

I pray today that you will be focused upon God; that you will trust God in every situation; that you will allow God to guide your steps; that God will release you from traps set to destroy you; and that you will see God’s hand at work in your life.
