1 Chronicles 12:23 Armed For Battle

These are the numbers of the men armed for battle who came to David at Hebron to turn Saul’s kingdom over to him, as the Lord had said: 2 Chronicles 12:23

Soldiers in the army are always armed for battle when they are getting ready to go to battle. Each one will have some form of weapon to be used against the enemy. The type of weapon used is always determined by what the enemy has that he will be going up against. Along with the weapons he will also have equipment to protect him from the attacks of the enemy.

The writer of Chronicles begins to list out the number of men that came from each tribe of Israel, armed for battle, to help turn Saul’s kingdom over to David.

Outside of the military, most people are not armed and ready for battle. Many, in some nations, may carry a private weapon, but it is often not the majority, and it is not carried expecting to go into battle. Even less people desire to go into battle at any point in their life.

Although most people will never be in a physical battle with guns and other weapons, every person is in a battle for his soul. Born into sin, every person is at war with God and is on the side of the devil.

Those who have seen Jesus and believed His word have switched sides and are now in army of God and need to be armed for this new battle against the devil and the world.

In order to be armed for this battle, one needs God’s word in his heart as a sword. He needs to be filled with the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. He needs to have his shoes on ready to spread the gospel message. He needs to be protected by the shield of faith in God. He needs to be ready for battle.

You are in a war. Either you are on God’s side or the side of the devil and this world. Both sides have their separate weapons used in battle. This is a spiritual war, not a physical war.

Choose to be on God’s side, the side that will win in the end. Put on His armor and be ready for battle. Be ready to face the enemy and turn people over to the kingdom of God.

Are you ready for battle?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will have on the whole armor of God; that you will be ready to do battle for God; that you will take back what the enemy has stolen from God; and that God will remove all fear of the battle.

1 Chronicles 7:40 Ready For Battle

All these were descendants of Asher–heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders. The number of men ready for battle, as listed in their genealogy, was 26,000. 1 Chronicles 7:40

Working as much as people often do, most people are ready to relax. They want to go home, sit in a recliner, put their feet up and relax doing nothing. Or they want to go out and sit by a lake fishing or some other hobby. The idea is to relax and not have to work hard anymore. Very few will look to be ready for a battle.

After listing the descendants of Asher, they are described as brave warriors, outstanding leaders and ready for battle.

Fighting a battle is very seldom the desire of most people. Only a few state that they are ready to fight. Being in a battle is being in the center of a danger zone that can injure or take one’s life. This scares most people.

While many places throughout the world are not going through a physical war, there is still a battle going on everywhere. The dark and sinful forces of this world are fighting against God and His people for the souls of every person.

Believers are in the middle of a battle that is greater than any physical war ever fought on the face of the earth. Each one must be ready to go to battle for their own lives and the lives of others.

In order to be ready for battle the believer must know God’s word to understand what the battle is, who the enemy is and how to win the battle. He must also be praying to seek God’s strength and direction. He must also put on the full armor of God.

The believer must be ready for battle at all times. As a believer, the world is against you. There is a battle for your soul trying to get you to sin against God. You must be ready to fight that battle at all times.

Hide God’s word in your heart to have a sword to fight with. Take up the shield of faith to defend yourself. Be filled with the Holy Spirit to have the power to win the battle. Allow God to direct your paths in fighting this battle.

Be ready to go to battle for your own soul and the souls of other people. Are you ready for battle?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will allow God to equip you for battle; that God will remove all fear of battle; that you will see God’s victory in every battle you face; and that you will be a brave warrior for God against the evil forces in this world.

1 Corinthians 16:13 Are You Ready For Battle?

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13

Very few people like the idea of going into a battle. Fewer yet prepare themselves for any type of battle. They sit back believing that they will never have to go into any battle or that the battle will never come to them.

Others are naive or will turn coward and run away fleeing any type of battle. Some will go into battle, but will lack the strength or wisdom in how to fight the battle.

As Paul closes out his first letter to the Corinthian church he gives them some guidelines to live by and be ready for. He tells them to be on their guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous and be strong.

Any soldier who is in a war zone must always be on his guard. He never knows when, where or how the enemy will attempt to attack. He needs to use all of his senses to remain alert.

Every believer is a soldier in God’s army. There is a battle going on for his soul and the all the souls of every other person. All of his senses, along with the Holy Spirit’s guidance, must be used to keep him alert and on guard as to what the enemy is trying to do.

Along with being alert, all throughout the bible believers are told to have faith, be courageous and be strong.

The faith is in God’s word, abilities and strength. The courage is that God is on his side and as long as he does what God leads, he cannot fail. The strength is found in what God gives him the ability to do by His Holy Spirit–to do the impossible.

As a believer, you are enlisted into God’s army and are in the battle for your life and soul. The world does not care about you, nor love you in any way. All the world wants is to see your destruction.

Allow God’s Holy Spirit to open all of your senses to be on your guard for the enemies attacks in your mind, physical and spiritual realms.

Trust and have faith that God will give you what you need in the time of battle. Don’t back down, but go in with the courage and strength of the Lord. With God, all things are possible and God never fails.

Are you ready for battle?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will allow God’s Holy Spirit to keep you alert to the tactics of the enemy; that you will have faith in God’s abilities; that you will have God’s courage to stand and fight the battle; and that you will have God’s strength to continue the battle until it is won.
