1 Corinthians 12:5 Different Jobs To Do

There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 1 Corinthians 12:6

The world is filled with hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of different types of jobs. Each job has its own peculiarity and task to be done, that none of the others can do.

Each one has their own level of importance, with none more important than the other in the grand scheme of the whole world. Yet, many people think that one job is more important than another. In doing this, they often cut down people with the ‘lesser’ job.

Paul points out that God has given different gifts and methods of service for people to do. Although the services are different, it is still only one God.

Just as it is in the world, there are many different types of jobs for people to do in the church. There are also different types of works of the Holy Spirit being manifested in the works of service for each person. God has these different works for a purpose.

What is needed in one situation may not be needed in another situation. God uses what is needed in the moment, with whoever is there willing to be used by Him in His way.

However, just like the world, many in the church look down upon others who do not do the same ministry or do it in the exact same way. Some will feel that the other person is not holy and really following God, if he does not do ministry a certain way.

Every believer needs to work in unity with each other, since they are all serving one God. Each one is given his own task and method by God in serving Him in this world. One is not better than the other, but are all equal in God’s kingdom.

You may have a ministry that does not look as good as someone else’s or you may have one that appears to be better than someone else’s.

Do not let pride overcome your heart. Know that your ministry of service is just as important as others.

Allow God to fill you with His Holy Spirit and use you in the way He needs you to be used, doing the work that He needs you to do in the moment.

See what God can do, when you work in unity with the Holy Spirit and others.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be filled with His Holy Spirit; that you will use the gift of the Holy Spirit He has given you; that you will do a service for God; and that you will work in unity with other believers.

1 Corinthians 8:6 One God, One Lord

Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 1 Corinthians 8:6

In a world with billions of people, there are also billions of different views on life. People have different views on how life came into existence upon this earth and they have different views as to their purpose upon this earth.

These views range from believing in some god, to believing only in nature. Many will even believe in multiple ways of each.

Paul says that for believers there is only one God and one Lord. Both had made all things and believers live through both.

The world does not have a set standard that everyone completely believes in or follows. There are many different theories as to how life began on the earth. Some are similar to others, while some are standing alone. With all the different views, there is confusion and a lostness felt.

Many in the world often live in confusion as to how they are supposed to live their lives. All they see is many different gods and many different ways to live. There is no one set standard. They do not know or understand their purpose in their lives.

Every believer believes in that there is only one God. It is God the Father who created everything with His Son Jesus Christ at His side. Believing in only one God, gives meaning and purpose to life and removes confusion. It removes the confusion, because there is only one standard to live by.

Jesus came and showed people the way to live their lives and to please God. This guidance is now found in the Bible and is guided by the Holy Spirit.

You may be wondering at times what your purpose is in life. Jesus came to give you life and a purpose. That purpose is to love God and to love others. You are to be His witness everywhere you go, bringing more people to Him.

As you live in and through Jesus with God’s Holy Spirit guiding you, you will know how to live life in abundance and with purpose. You will not need to live in the confusion that the majority of the world is in.

And your purpose and life will last for eternity, not just a few years.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will live in and through Jesus; that you will seek God for direction in your life; that you will find purpose in living for God; and that you will pass on the good news of Jesus to others.

Isaiah 37:20 Prayer For God’s Honor

Globe on desk

Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God. Isaiah 37:20

Desire for deliverance from a problem is desired by all people. No one really wants to go through a struggle or tough time. Even more so, most people do not want an enemy.

Yet, in life there are many struggles that face every person on a regular basis. As troubles occur, people seek out ways to overcome or stop that trouble that is in their life. The will seek self-help books, friends, astrology, doctors, religion, lawyers, drugs and many other people, places and things.

The entire reason for searching for help is for selfish reasons. It is all about making life better for self.

Hezekiah was being attacked by the enemy. As he prays to God for some help, he tells God to deliver them from the enemy so that the world may know that there is only one God and that He is that one.

Along with the rest of the world, believers have many struggles and enemies in life. They may be physical human enemies, or spiritual ones, habits, thoughts, or beliefs. Most will seek God for help against these enemies and struggles that they have.

While there is nothing wrong in seeking God for help against the struggle, many are only seeking it for relief in their own life. They are seeking it to help self, rather than to help others or be a witness of God’s great power.

Every believer is to be a witness of who God is. This is something that is to occur day-to-day with everything that they think, say and do in every situation.

The prayer of the believer should be for relief so that God may be glorified and honored. The answer to the prayer is to be a witness to others of who God is and what He can do, not just for personal relief.

As you are struggling in some situation in your life, go to God for help. As you seek His help, also seek ways to use that answer as a tool to be a witness of His great love and power. Be willing to use that answer to build His kingdom, rather than just hoard it to yourself.

The answers to your prayer are not to just make your life better, but to build you and His kingdom up.

What is your motivation in your prayers?

I pray today that you will know God’s power in your life; that you will have a desire to pray to God daily; that you will use all answers of prayer to be a witness of God’s great love and power; and that God will help you remove all selfishness in your prayers.
