Revelation 20:15 Is Your Name In The Reservation Book?

Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15

In many of the fancier, sit-down restaurants, it is common to have the requirement to have a reservation in order to eat there. The purpose of the reservation is to ensure you will have a spot to eat. For restaurants this is because they have to limit how many people are eating there.

If a person shows up with no reservation, he may or may not be allowed in at all. Some places require reservation, while others they are highly recommended.

In John’s vision, he has seen a lot of judgement and destruction occurring. Along with death and hell, any person whose name was not written in the book of life were thrown into the lake of fire.

Fire is sign of final judgement or punishment. It is over, completed, eternal destruction and death. When a fire gets hot enough, there is nothing that can survive it, everything is burned up and destroyed forever.

While alive on this earth, every person has a choice to make. It is the most important choice in their life that effects them for all eternity. That choice is to choose whether to follow Jesus, repenting of all sins and to accept His forgiveness or not. No other choice ever made has the extreme weight of importance as this choice.

All other choices a person may make from day to day, may have good or bad consequences for a short amount of time. That amount of time could be for a few moments all the way up until the time of death.

At the point a person chooses to repent of sins and believe in Jesus, his name is written in the book of life. He is on the reservation list for eternal life in heaven. If has not made that choice, then he is condemned for eternity in a lake of fire.

You, yourself, alone must make a choice as to whether you will repent of your sins and follow Jesus or not. If you refuse to follow Jesus, the consequences will be that your name is not written in the book of life, bringing on the judgement of eternal death.

Although choosing to follow Jesus may cause some problems today, in the end it means your name is in the book of life. As a result you will have eternal life some day. Is your name in the book of life?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will repent of your sins; that you will follow Jesus; that your name will be in the book of life; that God is reserving eternal life for you; and that you live your life for God.

Revelation 20:14-15 Second And Final Death

Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:14-15

The final judgment is described by John. It is one where God finishes off all sin and death and hell. Everything that is not of God is thrown into the lake of fire. They are destroyed for the rest of eternity.

Many people fear death because they do not know what is on the other side of death. They do not know what death really is. When there is no understanding of what death is, or what is on the other side of death, it is understandable to fear death.

Death came into this world as a result of sin entering the world. Sin entered the world when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God. The result of that sin was death. Death both physically and spiritually. With sin in your life God cannot be around you. It must be removed first.

Every person born since Adam and Eve have chosen to sin. They have brought death into their own lives.

The only way to stop that death is to accept what Jesus has done for you. He died on the cross and paid the price of death for your sins. Once you accept that and follow Him, He removes all of your sins. Then He will place your name in the book of life. He has given you life, not death.

In the end when all sin and death is destroyed, God will look at His book of life. Any person whose name is not found in that book will also be destroyed in the lake of fire for all eternity.

Do you believe in what Jesus has done for you?

Are you following Jesus today?

Are you turning away from sin and accepting the forgiveness Jesus has given you?

Is your name in the book of life today?

I pray today that you will know what Jesus has done for you; that you will accept the price He paid for your life; that you will turn away from all sin; and that your name will be written in the book of life.

Revelation 21:8 Second Death

“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21:8

There is an old statement that has been around for a long time: Only two things are guaranteed in life: taxes and death. Very few people would disagree with that statement. Everyone knows that death is coming for them.

With knowing that death is on the way, most people want to live life to the fullest. They want to have a good time…eat, drink and be merry. What they don’t want to believe in is the fact of a second death.

Physically every person will die. Depending on how they live their lives will then depend on if they will die a second time. This second death is the spiritual death, a separation from God for eternity.

Many people will agree with parts of the list that John gave. Very few have a problem believing that a murderer or someone who is vile will end up in hell. Yet, many do not agree with the others listed.

The cowardly, are those who back down from being God’s witness on this earth. The unbelieving are those who really do not put their trust in the salvation of Jesus, they may be trying to earn their salvation. The sexually immoral, are those who deviate from God’s marriage plan for sex. Practicing magic arts is trying to do what God wants done without going through God and using only what the devil has set up. Idolaters are those who give their lives and energy for anything but God. Liars are those who don’t tell the truth, even the little white lies.

Many of these people in this list may be decent, “good” people in the eyes of the world. They may be hardworking, loving, caring and clean-cut people. The world says they do not deserve hell, but God says He will cast them out. They are not serving God, but themselves and the devil.

In the end these people will be cast into the burning lake of sulfur. It will be torture and punishment for eternity. This is the second death with no chance of end.

Make sure that you are following God with all of your heart. Trust fully in the salvation Jesus provides. Turn from all sin. Let others know of this second death. Be God’s witness. Do not allow yourself or others to be given the second death.

I pray today that God will strengthen you to be His servant; that God will help you to turn from all sinful ways; that you will be God’s witness turning others from sin; and that God will find you faithful to Jesus.

Revelation 20:15 Lake of Fire

“Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15

The final time of judgment on all people has come. John saw a great white throne with the judge on it. Every person who had ever lived was raised from the dead and stood before this throne.

At that time all the books were opened and judgment started. The books would show what a person had done in their life here on this earth and they were judged accordingly.

The final and most important book was called “The Book of Life”. If a person’s name was found in this book, they were allowed into heaven. If their name was not found in this book, they were cast into the lake of fire.

Remember that Jesus called Himself “life” and that no person could get to God except through Him. This book could be seen as the book that Jesus recorded every name of every person who came to Him for salvation.

This time of judgment is very simple: either you have your name in the book of life (you have Jesus) or you do not. All the things that you have done in this life have no bearing on this judgment. Everything rests on whether you are serving and trusting in Jesus for your salvation or not.

Along with looking at your own life, there are others to look at. What about the lives of the people around you? The people you come into contact with everyday? The checker at the store; the greeter at the store; the person in line in front of you; the waitress at the restaurant; and everyone else?

Jesus said to look at the fields and that they are ripe for harvest. All around you there are millions of people who do not have their names written in the book of life. If Jesus was to return today, all those people would be cast into the lake of fire. They would be in torment and death for eternity.

Today, go and let others know about Jesus. Tell other people about what Jesus has done in your life and for you. Be the witness Jesus called you to be. Do not allow another person be found whose name is not written in the book of life. If you have a chance to witness to a person and do not, you are guilty of condemning them to the lake of fire. Do not be guilty of murder by omission.

I pray that today you will know if your name is written in the book of life; that you will follow and trust Jesus with your whole life and for your salvation; that you will boldly be God’s witness to those around you; and that daily God’s kingdom will be built up through you.
