1 Chronicles 17:18 God Knows You

What more can David say to you for honoring your servant? For you know your servant, 1 Chronicles 17:18

Friends often know their friends and are known by their friends. Co-workers may know the others they work around. After the close friends and co-workers, most people do not know each other.

It is an amazing thing when someone of very high position or popularity knows a person outside of the high positions and popularity. Many people take great pride when someone famous knows them by name or that they are actually friends.

God had just told David about the future of his family line. David was speechless and said that God knew him, His servant. There are two different levels of knowing a person.

The most common level is that one knows the person’s name and a little about who he is or what he does. This is commonly seen in the workplace. All one really knows about someone else is what is seen at the workplace, church or some other common meeting place.

Others know each other as friends and know a lot more about each other. At this level, they know what the person likes, where he lives and some details about his life. Very few attain this level with many people.

Believers may or may not have many friends who really know them here on this earth, but every one of them are known by God in the most intimate way possible. God knows every thought and even the number of hairs on one’s head. He knows and understands the desires one has and the struggles one is going through.

This is the God who created the heavens and earth who knows the believer. He is higher and greater than anyone else on this earth. Believers can be amazed and rejoice in knowing God knows them individually.

Whether you believe in God or not, He knows you more than anyone else can possibly know you. As a believer, you can rest in this fact knowing that God also knows what is best for you and knows your past, present and future.

Put your trust in God and be amazed at how well God knows you. Listen to God and allow Him to be in control, then give Him praise when you see Him do great things in and through you because He really does know you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know how much God really knows you; that you will hear what God says of your life; that you will trust God’s guidance in your life; and that you will give God praise for what He says and does.

1 Chronicles 1-8 Names Are Known

Family Tree Template

Please read 1 Chronicles 1-8.

Reading a list of names is usually a very boring, dry thing to read for most people. This becomes especially true when one does not know the majority of people and do not see any connection with the people.

The majority of people do not really know their genealogy, nor care about it a whole lot. They know their immediate parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and maybe cousins. Beyond those people they do not know very many.

A major reason for not knowing those names is that they have never met most of the rest in their genealogy. Some people, however, dig into the past, writing up their entire genealogy for several hundred years or more.

In this passage the writer lists the names of fathers and sons from the time of Adam until the time of Benjamin, covering several thousand years of generations of people. As one reads this passage it is very repetitive, so and so is the son of so and so, and so and so is the son of so and so, on and on for eight chapters. One often wonders why God had this put in this long list.

Most of the names in this long list are names of people that there is no longer any mention of them in the Bible anywhere. There are in a sense a bunch of nobodies, unknowns. Yet, God chose to put their names on this list. God is concerned about everyone, whether famous or not.

Along with seeing this list, one can see a line of connection from Adam all the way to Benjamin. There is a thread that is being formed, that will also continue on for eternity.

Knowing that there is this connection and knowing that God is concerned about every person, can give one peace of mind. Although that list stops in the eighth chapter, it has not ended in reality. Several thousand years later Jesus was added to that list.

As a believer you are also a part of that genealogy. God knows your name and has it written down in the history books of heaven. You may not be someone very important in the eyes of this world, but you are important to God. He wants to have you in His genealogy list of His family.

God knows all the names of the stars, He also knows your name. Rest in peace knowing you are in His family for eternity.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know that God knows your name; that you will trust God’s plan for your life; and that you will know how important you are to God.

Galatians 4:9 No Turning Back

No turning back

But now that you know God–or rather are known by God–how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? Galatians 4:9

While slavery still exists in parts of the world, for the most part slavery has been done away with. It is looked upon as a bad thing. No one wants to be a slave to anyone for any reason.

Regardless of what the national rules and regulations are, the majority of people in this world are enslaved to sin. They are bound up in sin that will keep them sinning more and more. Selfish desires overcome them and causes them to sin.

This is a conscious choice of most people to live that way. They see it as freedom of choice.

Every believer is taken out of that type of lifestyle. They are removed from the bondage and slavery of sin when Jesus had died and rose from the dead. He placed the powers of this world under His feet. They are no longer a slave to those forces.

Yet, there are many believers who turn back to those weak and miserable forces and allow themselves to be enslaved again.

This is done when a believer turns back to an old way of living or begins to live like the world again. He allows sin back into his life by choice on a regular basis. He refuses to turn away from sin. Lying, stealing, cheating, cursing, hating, porn, violence, hatred all become a part of his life again, a way of living. This is allowing the dark powers of this world to rule again in his life.

If you have accepted Jesus into your life and what He has done for you, you are known by God and also know God. He has set you free from the power of sin. He has pulled you out of that enslaved life of sin. Do not allow yourself to go back.

Take a look at your life on a regular basis and see you or what is enslaving you. Who or what has control over your life?

God should be the only one who has control over your life. Do not allow the things and sin of this world to enslave you and have control over you.

Turn away from the sin of this world and back to God.

I pray today that you will know what Jesus has done for you; that you will know the freedom you have in Jesus; that you will give God full control of your life; and that you will choose to turn from sin to God every time.

1 John 3:1 Whose Child You Are

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 1 John 3:1

Family relationships can mean a lot for some people. Most people are related to people who are not super well-known or have an extreme high position.

The children of the president of a corporation has the ability to call on their parent any time and get through immediately, most of the time. Everyone else who calls, usually will have to wait.

As a believer in Jesus, you have received a new relationship. God, the Father of Jesus, now calls you His own child. You have been adopted into God’s family. How much greater love can there ever be than that?

Now you have a family relationship who is more than just important or well-known, He is the creator of everything that there is. God is the One who has power to create the stars and remove the stars. He is the One who created life and gives life to everything that is alive.

Today you have His authority and His attention. Day or night you can go before Him and He will hear you.

The world may think you are strange for saying you have God as your Father, but that is because the world does not know Him. The world does not see or accept God, so they cannot know Him in any way. When someone says they are in a relationship with God, the world looks at that person as strange.

Yet, you do have that relationship. That relationship is closer than with any person in the world. God created you. No person created you, not even your parents. God just used your parents to create you.

Since you have such a close relationship with God, live for Him and with Him. Stop and think about how great that love is, that the creator of the universe wants to have you as His child. Give God the praise and glory for His great love for you!

I pray today that you will know the love God has for you; that you will realize you are God’s child; that you will live to give God honor; that you will show the world who God is; and that God will make you more like Jesus everyday.
