Judges 7:21 Hold Your Position

While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled. Judges 7:21

During a battle the soldier must be willing to hold his position as long as necessary to bring about a victory. Holding a position may be extremely difficult and possibly bring about a lot of pain, leaving the position will nearly always guarantee failure or defeat.

Giving up a position allows the enemy to step into it and take greater control. Only the brave and the dedicated will hold their position until the end in victory or given relief to change position.

The Israelites, under the leadership of Gideon, held their position in a battle against the Midianites as the Midianites fled in fear.

Every believer is in a battle. This battle is for their own soul and for the souls of others. It is not a physical battle, as the Israelites were in, but a spiritual battle.

The world is the enemy and is out to destroy the souls of every person through sin and deception.

Although believers do not have to hold a physical position, they must hold on to a spiritual one. What they believe, do, say, or think are all spiritual positions that will either bring defeat to the enemy or give the enemy victory.

Throughout the Bible God has given commands, rules, and principles on how to fight the war against the enemy. As one does everything that God has directed him to do, he must stand and continue to stand, holding his position and not backing down, not giving in to the temptation to sin against God.

Holding his position with God and not giving in to sin will bring about victory for his soul. It will strengthen him and draw him closer to God and more like Jesus.

The world is out to destroy you spiritually. They want you to sin against God and will do whatever it takes for that to occur.

Know what God requires of you and hold on to that. Do not give up your position in Christ Jesus for a moment of temporary pleasure in sin. As you hold your position, temptation, the enemy will have to flee.

The world cannot stand up against the truth of God’s word and the faith in God that you hold on to. In the end you will have a victory that goes into eternity.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the truth of God’s word and commands to you; that you will hold your position in Christ Jesus; that God will give you strength to resist temptation to sin; and that you will see God scatter your enemies from before you.

Hebrews 4:14 Hold On Tight

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. Hebrews 4:14

All over the world people have some traditions or beliefs that they hold on to. No one can convince them of anything different.

Most people, however, do not hold very tightly to what they believe. Every few days they are changing what they believe is truth. Or they change what they believe, based upon who they are around. Things change on a regular basis, to blend in with everyone else, rather than stand out as different.

The author had just described Jesus as a great high priest. Now he says that in light of that information, one must hold on firmly to the faith they are proclaiming.

Believers have a belief that is different from anything else in the world. It causes them to stand out. It will cause division between them and the rest of the world.

Since there is this division, many believers give up on their faith, in order to fit in with the world and be liked by the world. Others will claim to hold on to their faith in Jesus, but also accept every other belief that is out there as also acceptable.

There is only one way to heaven, one Savior, one God, one truth and one true faith. Believers must realize this and not allow the world to influence them into thinking that there is more than one true faith.

Every believer must hold onto their faith as though holding on to a rope that means life or death to them. It is the most important thing in their life, their belief in Jesus. If they don’t hold onto the faith, then everything is meaningless.

As a believer, you hold a faith that is absolute and sure. It is the firmest truth in existence on this earth. Do not allow the deception and the lies of this world to deceive you into thinking that there are other alternative ways to God.

There is only one way to God, one truth, one Lord, one Savior. Hold on to the faith you have and keep proclaiming it for all of the world to hear and know it. While there may be troubles and hardships now, in the end you will have eternal life with no more troubles.

Hold on fast to the faith you profess.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the truth of God; that God will open your eyes to the deceptions of this world; that God will keep you from being swayed by lies; and that you will boldly proclaim what you believe in Jesus.

Isaiah 41:13 Help Is Available

Holding hands

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13

Help wanted signs can be seen in many different business places. They are searching for someone to work with them to help them accomplish their goals. No one can do everything alone, but need help in some things.

Finding help is often difficult. Often people do not want to get their hands dirty with certain jobs or they want more than what is offered. The employer is often left to do the work alone.

Just as the employer works alone, many people work alone with problems that they are facing. No one can be found to help them deal with bad situations in their life.

Isaiah quotes God in saying that He is taking hold of their hand and helping them. God tells Israel to not fear, despite what is going on.

Fear is a common factor among most people. Fear of just about anything negative rises in the hearts of people.

People are searching for answers to the problems in life. They want to know how they can make it through the difficulties. Often they are searching for people or false gods to get their help.

Those who have chosen to follow God, have God to be their helper. He is right there taking a hold of their hand and telling them to no fear and that He is helping them.

God may take the person out of the situation, but will often leave the person in the situation, but be with them in it. Things are allowed in the life of a believer because of sin in this world and to build the person up. Situations will push a believer closer to God in trusting Him and holding on to His right hand.

You can also know the presence of God in your life. He is willing to hold your hand as you go through difficult situations in your life. He is also telling you to not fear.

With God holding your hand, you have nothing to fear. Nothing can permanently harm you or destroy you.

In supernatural ways God can fill you with His peace, love, strength, wisdom and anything else you need to make it through whatever you are going through. God will never leave you on your own, but will hold your hand, so do not fear, God is your helper.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God’s presence in your life; that you will know God is holding your hand in every situation; and that you will know God’s peace in your life.

Song Of Solomon 3:4 Holding On Tight

couple holding tight

Scarcely had I passed them when I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go till I had brought him to my mother’s house, to the room of the one who conceived me. Song Of Solomon 3:4

Finding someone that someone loves is a great thing. People will find the ‘perfect’ one for them to love. Often this takes a lot of time and patience waiting to find that person, but once found, they are happy. They will grab onto that person and hold on tight, never wanting to be separated.

This is done out of love for the person. It will often cause a person to do crazy things for the one he loves. All the person can think about is being with the one he loves.

Solomon paints a picture of a lady finding the one she loves after searching for some time and being unable to find him. When she does find him, she holds on tight and won’t let him go wanting intimacy with him.

While this can be seen in relationships between a man and a woman, this can also true in the relationship between a person and God. When a person begins to believe in Jesus, there is a close relationship with God that has begun.

The true love that God has for a person draws a person closer to Him. It can cause the person to want to hold on tight and not let Him go.

This should cause a believer to want to get closer to God than ever before, to get intimately close to God. Allowing God into the bedroom for exposure to everything within one’s life.

Holding onto God like this will cause a person to turn from sin in order to be closer to Him. God becomes his whole focus in life.

What is your greatest love in your life? Is it the things of this world, or is it God?

Seek to draw closer to God and get closed into the secret place with Him. Allow yourself to be fully exposed to His gaze, so that you can also see Him clearly and know Him more.

Make Jesus your first love in your life. As you do that God will hold all else together for you in His way and in His time. You will find eternal love and peace. God is there for you and is not against you. Hold on to Him tightly.

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus provides; that you will know the love of God; that you will love God with all of your life; and that you will hold on to with all that within you.

1 Corinthians 15:2 Hold On Firmly

614-07587697

By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:2

The word ‘gospel’ means good news or message. The gospel that Paul preached was that Jesus died and rose again. Jesus had done this in order to be able to forgive every one of their sins and to remove their sins. He paid the penalty for the sins of every person who ever lived. Paul says that they are to hold on firmly to this gospel message.

To hold on firmly is to grasp a hold of something and to not let go.

Many children have a dream that they begin to hold on to. They desire to be someone or do something some day. As they grow older, most children lose or let go of that dream. Others will say that they cannot do it and so they give up on that dream or hope that they had.

A few people will hold on to that dream and keep striving to reach it. Those who keep holding on and not give up, often will reach their dream.

While Christians do not have a dream, they do have a hope to hold on to. That hope is the salvation that Jesus provides. There have been many in the church who began to believe the gospel message, but later let go of it. The cares of this world pulled them away from holding onto that gospel message. Or they get caught up in working for their salvation, rather than having faith in the work of Jesus.

All a believer must do is trust in what Jesus did for him and strive to live for God.

There may be times when it is a struggle for you to believe that God will save you, but you must trust His word. Hold on to that message and never give it up. If any point you give up believing that Jesus will save you, you have believed in vain. Everything you believed in becomes worthless to you.

The world will try to get you to stop believing in Jesus and that He is a waste of time. Do not fall for that, but keep believing.

Holding on will take work and effort, but it is worth it in the end. Do not let go of the gospel message in your life.

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus provides you; that you will trust in the work of Jesus; that you will hold firmly to what you believe in Jesus; and that God will build you up in Christ Jesus.
