For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, Hebrews 3:14
Beginning something is very easy for people to do. Keeping going is often the hard part once started because challenges often rise up. Giving up and quitting is usually easier to do than to face the troubles and challenges along the path. Many start off with a good start, but then quit and try to start something else rather than pushing through.
As the author of Hebrews talks about being faithful, he says that they will be part of Christ if they hold on to the faith, that they had at the beginning, all the way to the end.
Whenever someone begins something, that person has faith that one will be able to accomplish the task. They believe in what they are doing and are full of energy and expectation in completing what they have begun. Without that faith and expectation no one would start anything.
Keeping that faith is often very difficult to do when trouble arises. The challenges become very overwhelming, and people forget the original reason for starting in the first place.
People become believers in Jesus because something stirred in their heart to believe in Him and trust His words. However, many in the church get discouraged when life becomes painful and extremely difficult. The forget why they first believed and begin to walk away from Christ. In the end they will lose out on what they had in Jesus.
Believers are to always remember to hold on to what caused them to believe in Christ in the first place. That faith is what will keep them moving forward in Christ in spite of the troubles this world throws at them. They know that one day it will be worth it all when He returns.
How many things have you begin, with full intention of completing, only to give up later when struggles arise? Do not allow yourself to forget why you chose to believe in Jesus and begin the walk with Him. You will have many troubles in this world as a believer, but it will be worth it all when He returns. Hold on to that faith you had in Him at the beginning. Allow that faith to continue to grow. You can be confident that He will bring you home to heaven some day in your future.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will have faith in Christ; that you will hold on to your faith in Christ; that you will not give up on God when hard times come; and that you will know His faithfulness to you.
