Job 20:29 The Fate Of The Wicked

Earth destroyed

Such is the fate God allots the wicked, the heritage appointed for them by God. Job 20:29

The world sees trouble coming for the world. They see the pollution and destruction of the land occurring and they believe that people are destroying the world. In an attempt to combat what is happening, the world strives to enact laws to get people to be more careful with how they use this planet earth, believing that this world is all there is.

Most of the people of this world believe that there may be a god, but they don’t think that they can really know him. They also believe that there may be more than one god controlling everything. Atheists deny that God exists in any form or with any religion, believing that this is all there is.

Zophar, one of Job’s friends, decides to speak. He begins this chapter describing in great detail the final destruction of the wicked, those that do not believe in God. He goes into detail as to the loss of health and wealth, loss of peace and destruction of everything. This is one thing that his friends said that is true. There is coming a day of judgement against all who do not follow God, it is their inheritance for disobedience.

While all of these things will eventually happen, they may or may not be happening to people right now. Many in the church will quickly say that it is God’s hand of judgement coming upon people when a major disaster occurs. Zophar was implying this was the case with all that happened to Job, which is not the truth, there was no judgement occurring. Job was in a proving ground.

Believers in Jesus must warn people of the coming judgement and what that will mean. They have to let people know about Jesus and His offer for salvation from the coming destruction. The world will end, but life can go on.

As a believer, you must not fear when things are going bad around you. Have no fear when all you see is death and destruction. While those things are bad, they are not the end of life. God is still in control.

Focus your life and trust in Jesus. Trust that He will save you from your sins and the coming judgement. Then you will have peace that the world cannot understand.

As you do this, warn others of the coming judgement. Be a witness for Jesus to save as many as possible.

I pray today that you will know the salvation that Jesus provides; that you will be a witness of Jesus to this world; that you will know the peace God gives; and God will remove all fear of coming destruction.

Isaiah 54:17 Your Heritage From God

“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this will be their vindication from me,” declares the LORD. Isaiah 54:17

Israel had been in exile and bondage because of the rebellion against God. Through Isaiah, God was telling them of a time when they would be redeemed and set free again. When this happens, God says that there will be no weapon that can be brought against them and that they will be able to refute every accusation. All of this is what they will inherit from the Lord and it will be God’s way of getting back at the enemy.

The world looks at physical weapons as very powerful and able to destroy anyone or anything. The reality of any physical weapon is just that it is physical. Something physical cannot destroy anything that is not physical.

The body of a person is physical, but that is not what makes the person who he really is. It is his soul that makes the person who he is. The soul is spirit and cannot be destroyed by anything that is just physical.

As a believer, your spirit is in God’s hands. He is the only one who can destroy it. Man can kill your body, but your soul will live forever.

Israel was also given the ability to refute any accusations. Satan will try to accuse you of many sins, all of which probably did happen. However, Jesus, in His great love and mercy, has forgiven each and removed them. Satan can no longer accuse you of those sins.

Many believers, also remember their sins and accuse themselves. Often an individual is his own greatest accuser. One knows himself the best and what he has done in the past. Do not accuse yourself of a sin that Jesus has removed. Reject the devil and his thoughts.

You have a heritage from God that says that you are a child of God, who is pure in the eyes of God through the work of Jesus on the cross. The sins of your past are no longer remembered. There is no more accusation against you. God is on your side, claim your heritage.

I pray today that you will know the forgiveness Jesus provides; that you will know that you have been cleansed by Jesus of all sin, that you will not fear any weapon; and that you will refute all accusations.

Matthew 1:17 God’s Work

“Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.” Matthew 1:17

Many people will often skip over lists of people. It sounds boring to read this man is the father of this son, who is the father of this person, over and over, again and again.

One of the best things to do is actually go into the Old Testament and look up each of these people. Find out who they were and what they were like.

God had promised Abraham more descendants that could be numbered. During his life, he only had two sons. Looking at this list shows how God kept His promise to Abraham.

Some in this list is very familiar to many people. King David, Solomon and maybe Uzziah. These and many others were actually pretty good kings trying to worship God and Him alone.

As you look at these people you should also take note that not everyone really followed God. Several had severely fought against God in many ways. Manasseh is listed as one of the worst kings of Israel. He set up worship of false gods everywhere and tore down altars to God.

What does this tell you today? It does not matter what your father or grandfather did or believed. Many people grow up in homes that do not serve God at all. Many even live in homes where persecution of Christians is welcomed and encouraged.

Yet, despite the upbringing, God can use you if you allow Him to do so. You are responsible for your own life in whether you will follow Jesus or not. If you decide to follow Jesus, God will use you to build His kingdom. You can be a part of the promise of God to Abraham.

You can be a witness to your family and to those around you. God can build His kingdom and bring about His purpose through you despite your past ancestry. Do not think that God cannot or will not use you. Allow yourself to be His witness today and be used today. Change your heritage to an everlasting one. Pass that on to everyone around you. God is at work in and through you if you allow Him.

I pray that today God will reveal the work He is desiring to do through you; that you will see the great heritage you have received in Jesus; that you will allow God to work in and through you; and that God will draw many to Jesus through you.
