Luke 1:30 You Have Found Favor

But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. Luke 1:30

People love to have favor with famous or people in high positions. In their minds it gives them a special status or position.

In the workplaces, many desire that favor so that they can get higher positions or higher pay. Others desire that favor to keep them out of trouble or to allow them to get by with things that they should not do. Some will go to great lengths to gain some favor, including trying to bribe to get it.

An angel came to Mary with a message from God. As Mary was scared of what was happening, the Angel said that she had found favor with God.

It is common for people to think that Mary was someone special to get God’s favor upon her. However, she was a human being with sins, just like every one else is. The difference is with the heart. Mary was willing to follow and obey God, no matter how crazy it appeared to be.

Every person has a chance to be favored by God. People live in sin, but God sent His Son to die for them and save them. Although every one deserves extreme eternal punishment, God is willing to give them favor and remove those sins. He is willing to send His Holy Spirit to live in each person to lead and guide the person, and give him strength to do what needs to be done.

This is greater favor than any person on this earth can give any other person. It is a favor that brings life, and not just life, but eternal life.

No one has to fear God, if he is willing to repent and follow Jesus. Jesus has brought people God’s favor.

You may wonder if God even knows who you are. He does and He has given you great favor. Instead of punishing you for your sins and crushing you, He is willing to forgive you and build you up.

God may not call you to carry His Son, but He has a work for you to do for Him. He has a special assignment just for you that no one else can do. That is His great favor.

Do not be afraid of God, but embrace Him and what He has for you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God’s favor towards you; that you will know what God has for you; that you will know what God wants you to do; and that you will serve God with all of your life.

1 Chronicles 17:16 Who Am I That God Helps Me?

Man looking at lake

Who am I, LORD God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? 1 Chronicles 17:16

People want to feel important and needed. They want to believe that they are valuable. There are always arguments in the workplace that the worker has because he feels he deserves more pay than what he is getting. People feel tend to always feel that they deserve more than they are getting.

When people get a promotion or some other honor, most people feel as they got what they deserved, if not wanting yet more. This is often done is self pride.

David had decided that he wanted to build a temple for God. God loved his heart, but told him that he was not the one to do it, but his son would build the temple. God also told him that he would always have a son sitting on the throne.

David was overwhelmed with what God had said and asked who he was that God would do this for him. He did not get angry with God, but understood the favor that God was giving him, and could not understand it.

It is common for believers to develop the same attitude that the world has. They often feel that they deserve to have the best of everything, and then get upset when God does not give them  something they desire.

The reality is that no person really deserves anything but painful death from God. Sin has brought death upon every person, including believers. Yet, God loved people so much that He provided a way out of that death. He has given every believer unmerited favor upon their lives.

In every believer, God has poured out many blessings and His favor in ways that the world cannot understand.

Take a look at your own life. How has God blessed you over the days and years? Despite any situation you may be going through or have gone through, God has still given you great favor.

God has also spoken over your life and promised a great future. Your future includes eternal life with no more pain or suffering.

Over time God has already brought you through many things that you did not deserve to survive from. God did this because of His great love for you, not because you deserved anything.

Realize who you are in Christ Jesus. You are God’s child, because of Jesus, not because of you. Give God praise for what He has done for you and made you to be.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what God has done for you; that you will praise God for His work in your life; and that you will live for God every day.

Hosea 9:2 The Food & Wine Will Fail

Threshing floors and winepresses will not feed the people; the new wine will fail them. Hosea 9:2

Hosea was telling the people of Israel to not rejoice. They had been found guilty of committing many sins and rejecting God. Punishment was coming to them. Many in Israel felt that because their crops were so good, that they would be able to support themselves and did not need God at all. They are warned that everything will fail them.

Farmers go out and plant huge fields of crops for food. They expect the crops to come in large enough to be able to feed their own family and sell a lot to others for more money, so they can get wealthy and feed more people.

On the surface this looks like it would provide for needs of all the people everywhere to get enough food. However, without God, those crops will not always come through as the farmer may expect. God has to be the one to provide the right amount of water and sunshine for those crops to grow. As people refuse to follow God and give Him all the credit, God pulls His hand of favor away and the crops will not grow as well, which will not feed the people.

Not every person grows food for themselves or for a profit. People use other things to make a profit and provide for themselves. Working many different types of jobs, people strive to have large bank accounts in order to provide for all of their needs. In the same way, if they are not following God and allowing Him to be in control, the bank accounts will fail. There will not be enough money to provide for all the needs one may have.

Life consists of more than just food and drink. One needs the nourishment of God and His word in his life on a daily basis.

As you are going through your life, what are you expecting to nourish you? Is it the food you buy with the money your job provided?

Or is it God providing through your job and His grace and mercy?

Keep your eyes and life focused on God and allow Him to be the one in control. Then God will provide for all of your needs. Your hands will work and be prosperous for your needs and the needs of others. Without God, they will fail.

I pray today that you will know God’s provision for your life; that you will trust in God alone; that God will provide for others through you; and that God will receive all the credit for the blessings in your life.

Psalm 102:27 God Never Changes

But you remain the same, and your years will never end. Psalm 102:27

Going through life, a person will see many changes the longer he lives. It does not really matter if it was five-hundred years ago, or in current history, things and people change.

People must change as they get older. Their bodies and maturity must grow. If a person does not grow and change, there is something medically wrong with them. Some will choose to not grow in maturity, and are often seen as childish and looked down upon by most in society.

Along with humans changing with time, so do the ways things are done. Technology has changed the ways many things are done and is constantly changing to this day. Not all changes are good, not all changes are bad, but there are changes in the human life.

One that does not change is God. He is the same today as He was during the time of Adam and Eve. God still accepts everyone who comes to Him. God still uses the ‘little’ people in this world to do great things.

Many people believe that God could never use them, or could not really love them. They look in the Bible and see various people used by God that look so good, and feel that they cannot measure up.

Yet, every one of those people in the Bible God used had faults and struggles and God still used them. God has not changed. You may have faults and struggles in your life, but God still chooses you. He still wants to use you.

You have God’s favor on you. It may not seem like it when you look at the momentary troubles you may be going through, but God is still on your side. He wants you to succeed. He loves you with the exact same love that He loved David, the apple of His eye.

Along with God never changing, He will never come to and end. Everyone and everything in this world will come to an end some day, but God will not.

You can rest assured that God loves you and will always be there. Keep your eyes on Jesus and trust Him. See what He can and will do in and through you.

I pray today that you will know God’s presence in your life; that you will know God’s love for you; that you will know God never changes; and that you will serve God with all of your life.
