Psalm 18:29 Overcoming A Wall

Great Wall Of China

With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. Psalm 18:29

Going through life, everyone faces some walls in their lives. Some of these walls are self built, while others are built by other people or situations.

These walls can be relational, physical, emotional or some other wall. Walls that are emotional are very common. People are angry with someone or has someone angry at them and it breaks the relationship.

Inventors and dreamers run into walls all the time. They want to accomplish  something, but hit a wall preventing them or slowing them down.

When a person hits a wall there is three things that he can do. Stop and change directions. God around the wall. Or scale and go over the wall. Most people stop and change directions, giving up what they wanted to do.

David knew that with God’s help, there was nothing he could not do. He could go against a whole troop of enemy or he could scale a wall that was in front of him.

Even in the life of a believer, one will come across walls in his life. Going up against a wall is a common thing. It is not a one time event, but occurs on a regular basis. Some walls are small, while others are massive great walls, like the Great Wall Of China. These walls become a problem for the person to overcome.

However, unlike the world, the believer has God to give him assistance. God is there to help him get over the wall and keep moving forward in His plan.

God has strength and abilities that go beyond anything any person could ever have or even dream about. Sometimes God will move the wall, as He did with Joshua, but often He will help the person scale it and get over the top.

You may have some walls in your life that are trying to slow you down or stop you. You have a choice as to what you will do, give up or keep moving forward. In yourself, you may not be able to ever climb that wall and get to the other side, but with God it is possible.

God can guide your steps to get over that wall. He can give you strength to be able to pull yourself up as you climb that wall.

Trust in God for your strength and guidance. You can get over that wall in front of you, not by yourself, but with His help.

I pray today that you will know God’s power in your life; that you will rely upon God’s strength; that God will guide you over a wall in your life; and that God will guide you on your journey through this life.

Job 41:1-2 What Can YOU Really Do?

Crocodile

Can you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook or tie down its tongue with a rope? Can you put a cord through its nose or pierce its jaw with a hook? Job 41:1-2

Being independent and able to do things is what most people want to be able to do. Children are constantly told that they can do whatever their heart wants to do, that they can be whatever they want to be. This can happen with hard work and dedication.

As people grow up being taught this, most people feel as if they do not need anyone else’s help, that they are completely independent of others, able to do it themselves. While being able to do things is true, it is not true that man can do anything and everything. Nor is it true that man is completely independent of anyone else.

As God is speaking to Job, He asks Job about the Leviathan. He wants to know if Job can hold the Leviathan down. Later in this chapter God gives a great description of the power and abilities of the Leviathan and wants to know if Job can control it. It is implied that Job cannot control it, but that God can.

There are limits to what man can do on his own. In reality man cannot do anything without God. It is God who gave the breath of life into each and every person on this earth. It is God who sustains all life on this earth.

Without God’s help, man could not survive at all. This means God is the one in complete control. Knowing this, every believer must release control to God and trust God in any and every situation that occurs in his life. This includes the ‘bad’ situations in life, as well as the good ones.

You may be able to do many things in this life. You may have a successful career and a great family, but there is still a limit to what you can do. And what you have done, has been done with the abilities God has given you.

Just as it takes Jesus to remove sins out of your life, it takes God and His power to do anything in this life. He is the One who had created you and is the One who will sustain you.

Allow God to be in control and trust Him through every situation in your life. He can control the Leviathan in your life.

I pray today that you will know God’s power in your life; that you will give God complete authority over your life; that you will trust God’s work in your life; and that you will not try to be in control of your whole life.
