Psalm 135:5 What Do You Know?

I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods. Psalm 135:5

Knowledge is something that every person has. Everyone has some knowledge about some things and very little to no knowledge in other things.

In today’s society getting knowledge is easy. However, getting good, true knowledge is something else. One can look online and Google something for some knowledge on subject. With just a few words in the search, millions of hits can come up. Some of those things are true and have to deal with the original thought, while many have nothing to do with the original thought or are false information.

All over the world there are many things looked as the almighty thing to have. If one has fame or wealth, one has it made and is successful. If one follows this group or that person, one has made it.

The psalmist writes that there is one thing he knows. That one thing is God is great, not only just great, but greater than all other gods.

While all the things that the world looks at for success have some good points, there are just temporary and will not last. All of those things are little gods to people. Things that people worship and adore, live their life chasing after.

God is eternal and in control. He is the One who created everything. He is the One who sustains everything. And He is not an ogre, holding everything to Himself, but shares it all with mankind. God is loving and caring.

The things of this world are just that–things. They cannot love or help in themselves. They are not alive. At best they are tools to be used.

God is perfect love and alive. This makes Him greater than anything god this world can offer.

As a believer you must know that God is love and that He IS greater than anything this world has. God can and will meet every need you have. The things of this world will fail and fall short. People will fail and fall short. God will never fail or fall short.

While knowing this in the mind is good, you must also know and believer this in your heart. You must have faith that God is who He says He is and that He really does love you.

This knowledge will give you the strength and ability to make it through every tough situation that this life can give you.

Do you know God?

Or do you know about God?

I pray today that you will have a personal relationship with God; that you will know God in your heart; that you will know God’s love for you; and that you will share knowing God with others.

Psalm 70:4 Rejoicing While Waiting

But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!” Psalm 70:4

Waiting is something that most people do not like to do. Things cannot move fast enough for many people. They want things to be done quickly on their own time frame.

It does not matter how fast something is, it can be faster, or rather, it must be faster. The cashier is too slow, the computer is too slow, the traffic is too slow and much more. People are always complaining about how long something takes.

The level of complaint increases when what is slow is the provision of help in a time of need. During a crisis, nothing can move fast enough. Then people just complain.

David knew that there were people who were in need of God’s help and were waiting for His help in their lives. He encourages all that are waiting for God’s help to praise Him and remember that He is great.

While the world is waiting on physical things in this world, believers are also waiting on God. They are waiting on God to answer their many prayers. Some of those prayers are for desperate measures. Life is difficult and without God’s intervention it will be even worse.

Yet, as they pray, God does not seem to hear or do anything about the situation. Many believers then begin to complain, just as the world does. They get angry with God for not meeting their need, in their time.

The focus needs to shift and remember that God is GREAT. He knows the perfect time and the perfect action to deal with the situation in the believer’s life. One needs to wait for His provision, His salvation to arrive. While waiting one can praise God for who He is.

You are probably waiting for God to answer some prayers of your right now that you have been seeking an answer to for some time. Do not give up on those prayers. Continue to believe God will answer those prayer needs.

As you are praying and waiting, rejoice that God hears you. Praise God for all the prayers He has already answered in your life. Don’t lose hope in God and the salvation that He has promised, it will come at the right time.

Don’t forget that God is GREAT, even while you are waiting in desperation for an answer from Him.

I pray today that you will know God’s hand of provision; that you will know the hope you have in Jesus; that you will rejoice in what God has already done for you; and that you will praise God while waiting for His answers.

Psalm 70:4 Seek And Be Glad

But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The LORD is great!” Psalm 70:4

Seeking for something is not always a fun project to do, but often has to be done. Car keys get lost, the wallet gets misplaced, important papers are mixed in a big shuffle, finding a building in a major city, and numerous other things to search for.

The more important an item is, the more anxiety there is in searching for the item. The less time to find it, also increases the anxiety in the search.

The one thing common in all searches is the end result once found–rejoicing. No matter what the item being searched for, people are always glad when they find it. Levels of rejoicing may be different based on how important the item is.

David talks about one search that some people are searching for and often don’t even realize it. The search for God in their lives. People every where are searching for meaning and value in life. They want the best that life has to offer.

God is the most important thing in life that a person can find. Only God can offer true saving from the things of this world. Only Jesus can offer true meaning to this life on this earth.

Once a person finds salvation in Jesus, he should rejoice and be glad in God. In reality, anyone who does find salvation in Jesus will rejoice and be glad, because he will see how great God really it. God does not have to save you, He chose to save you.

Jesus stepped out of a glorious heaven to come down and die an excruciating, painful death on the cross for you. How great is our God!

Go through your day realizing how great God really is. Let others know how great God is. Tell them what God has done for you. Everyday there are new mercies and new blessings. God is with you.

Are you rejoicing and glad in Jesus?

Or are you complaining about what you cannot find?

I pray today that you will have a personal relationship with Jesus; that you will seek and find God in your life each day; that you will rejoice in knowing Jesus; and that you will be a witness of Jesus to everyone around you.
