Luke 2:11 The Best Gift Ever

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:11

Christmas is a holiday that is celebrated in nearly every nation around the world. People all over the world love a reason to get together with family and friends and to give and receive gifts from each other.

At the same time many do not like Christmas because they have had a bad experience during the season, such as a loss of a loved one or a sickness. With bad memories they are depressed and do not have the hope that Christmas brings.

Luke tells how the angels told some shepherds that there was some great news, a Savior, the Messiah, the Lord was born.

Getting together with family and friends and giving gifts is great, but if that is all there is to Christmas, there is no real hope and depression can set in. Many people around the world do not have any family or friends that they can celebrate with, leaving them without hope.

The world wants people to focus on the fun and gifts, rather than the best gift ever given. The world is all about self and in that is dying with no hope. It is just eat, drink, be merry and die…it is over. The sin, that mankind was allowed to do, only brought about temporary pleasure and eternal death.

God, in His infinite love, sent Jesus to be the Savior of the world. Jesus is the good news, because He is able to remove sin and bring about eternal life. He came as a baby to grow and live as a human being in order to be able to say that living for God is possible, there is hope.

Believers can now rejoice and celebrate the greatest gift ever given–forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior.

If you struggle with the busyness of Christmas season or have painful memories of the season, look to Jesus for hope. Allow Jesus to forgive you of all the sins you have ever done. Allow Jesus to fill you with the Holy Spirit to transform you into a new creation with hope.

Give because Jesus gave. Live because Jesus lived. Have hope because Jesus brought hope.

Celebrate Christmas to worship and honor the greatest gift ever given–Jesus, the Lord and Savior.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the forgiveness Jesus gives; that you will know the hope you can have in Jesus; that you will know the reason for Jesus coming; and that the world will see Jesus in you.

1 Peter 4:10 Use Your Gift To Serve Others

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4: 10

Everybody has some ability to do something very well. For each person that ability is a little to very different.

While many people never really understand or use their abilities, there are some that hone those abilities to be used. Instead of using their abilities to serve others, many will use them to build themselves up. The world wants to build their own little kingdoms first, and if anyone benefits from it, then it is fine.

Peter tells the people to use whatever gift God has blessed them with to serve others. This service is revealing God’s grace in various ways.

God has made every person unique and given them an ability to do something of value in light of eternity in this world. Being a believer is not just talking about the gospel message and going to church, but meeting needs of others, both physical and spiritual.

Sadly, many in the church are just like the world in using their gifts for themselves, rather than to build God’s kingdom. They build their own little kingdom here on earth, just as the world does.

No matter what the talent is that a person may have, he should use it to point people to Jesus. Helping others out and serving them reveals the grace and love of God to them in many ways.

His focus should be on using what God has given Him to build His kingdom, rather than the temporary kingdoms of this earth. Even though some may fight back and persecute, because of their hatred for God, others will turn and choose to believe in Jesus because of the grace and love shown to them.

God has given you some talent or gift that is unique to you. It is up to you as to how you use it. Do not allow yourself to be led by the world in using that gift to please yourself and build your own little kingdom.

Allow God’s Holy Spirit to guide you in using it to build His kingdom, to show His love and grace to others that need Him. No matter how little or big your ability is, God can use it in mighty ways to change the lives of people around you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what gift God has given you; that you will use God’s gift to point people to Jesus; that others will see God’s grace and love through your service; and that God will give you the needed strength to serve others with His grace.

Ephesians 2:8-9 How To Be Saved

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Although many people like to talk about the idea of liking getting something for free, most people also like to earn what they get. They want to know that they had a part in getting whatever it is that they have. It gives them self value and worth.

This type of feeling is highest in religious circles. People want to earn favor with God or a god.

Paul describes how a person is saved. Salvation comes from God, by His grace and only through faith, which was also given by God. He stops all boasting by not allowing salvation by works.

After mankind had fallen away from God and into sin, God set up a plan to save everyone. He provided the means to be saved, but it was to only be done by faith, not works. There was no list of things a person must do or not do in order to become saved, it was all by faith.

Faith is just believing and trusting God for what cannot be seen. In this case it is faith for salvation, to be saved from sin. Salvation is something that cannot be physically seen or touched, nor it is it immediately complete. This faith was also something that God gave to every person.

While the majority of the world works to please God and be saved, God did not do it that way. He did not want one person to boast because he did ‘more’ than another person. It is completely by faith a gift given by God. It is believing that Jesus died for all sin and will remove all sin from one who believes in Him.

If you have not done so already, today it the day to believe in Jesus, repent of your sins and be saved. God has this great gift ready for you to utilize.

Stop striving to work to try and please God so that He will save you. You are unable to do enough. Just repent and believe in what Jesus did for you already.

God has already given you a measure of faith that you use day to day in other things. Use it today to believe in Jesus and be saved.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will use the faith God has given you to believe in Jesus; that you will trust God completely for your salvation; and that you will stop working to earn God’s favor or love.
