Job 28:28 Finding True Wisdom

And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding.’ Job 28:28

Wisdom is something that people desire. Certain people are revered for what appears to be great wisdom. Those few people seem to have great insight and can talk about great things that many cannot even begin to comprehend. Yet, for the majority of people wisdom seems to be just out of reach and something very vague and mysterious. Many cannot describe what wisdom really is, though it is sought after by reading many books.

Job had just asked where wisdom may be found. He says that it is found in the fear of the Lord and that fleeing from evil is understanding.

The world says that seeking self-pleasure is the greatest thing on the earth. It is the goal of life to be happy and satisfied with all that one wants or desires. According to the world it is wisdom to allow anyone to do whatever is desired as long as it does not harm anyone else. Sin is not even a concept to the world and so it is promoted as good for a person.

Although sin appears to be fun and good in the moment, in the end it brings about death. Selfish desires appear to be safe and not harming, but most often it will also bring about death.

True wisdom can only be found in God. He is the only One who has been around since the beginning and knows what is best for each and every individual. He knows how to live life fully with no death in the end. He has also made a way for a person to live for eternity.

Putting one’s trust in God and fearing or respecting His commands is true wisdom. That will cause one to flee sin and live a full wise life.

If you are like most people, you desire to have more wisdom to deal with things in your life. You want to make the best choices in every situation in your life and live life the fullest.

Begin by giving your life over to God. Repent of any sins against God and begin to follow Him and flee sin and evil. Do not get caught up in the evil ways of this fallen world that is heading for death and destruction. That is the truest and greatest wisdom you can attain.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will obey all of God’s commands to you; that you will respect the commands of God in your life; that you will give God complete control of your life; and that God will give you strength to flee all evil and sin.

Job 1:1 How Would You Be Described?

There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. Job 1:1

Every day people are described by others by how they are known. There are thousands of different ways that a person can be described, depending upon how others see that person. Usually, the description of a person is based off of what that person does and what that person’s character is like. These descriptions can be either positive or negative, helpful or harmful, but often are truthful.

Job is described as from the land of Uz and being blameless, fearing God and shunning evil.

Many people are very focused on making sure that they are known by a certain way. They want to be known as a great actor, a worker in a specific field, a good person or some other specific way that can show what they have physically done with their life.

Some people do not really care about what others think of them. They live their lives just how they want with no concern for others.

Often believers are not seen as one’s who fear God nor shun evil. Many act, speak and look just like the world, guilty of active sinful habits.

Jesus had given His followers to be a witness in this world, to let others see God in and through them by their words and actions. Some of the characteristics of true believers are that they will fear God, be blameless and flee all evil. Each of these characteristics come out of fear or respect for God, knowing who God is and His characteristics.

Every believer who can be described like Job was, is one whose character is just like that of Jesus.

People will have some description of who you are and what you are like. While some of those descriptions may be a little off, most will be accurate.

Take a moment to think about how you would accurately describe yourself. Would it be a description that you believe would honor and please God? Or would it be one that looks like the world? Seek to live your life like Jesus did and to look like Jesus to the world, fearing God, blameless and shunning all evil.

As you go through your days, how would others describe who you are? How would God describe you?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will be found blameless in Jesus; that you will fear and respect God and His commands to you; that God will give you strength to flee all sin; and that you will be described as a true follower of God.
