Psalm 77:11-12 When God Is Silent

I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds. Psalm 77:11-12

There are times in the lives of people when God is silent. They are going through difficult times that do not seem to end. The world seems to be winning the battle.

At these times, the world likes to say that God does not really exist, or is not really in control. Believers begin to wonder if they really had ever heard God speak before and if the world may be correct. Many will spend hours crying out to God for an answer, lying awake during the night in fear as they cry out to God.

Others will start to blame themselves for God being so silent. They will confess sins and ask to be forgiven on sins that had been confessed a dozen times. They may begin to question whether they are really believers or not.

The psalmist in this passage had some of those same questions. He wondered whether God would reject them forever or not. He questioned whether God had failed in His promises or not. These are the same questions people ask to this day.

However, the psalmist then says that He will remember the deeds and miracles God had done in the past. He will then focus and meditate on those good things.

There will come times in your life when you feel that God has rejected you. God will be silent and appear to be leaving you all on your own. You may be crying out to God for help and appearing to get no answer.

When these times occur, turn your focus on who God is and what He has done. Read the Bible and learn how others had times where God was silent. Learn how there were times when God seemed far away. Yet, God always fulfilled His promises.

God will not reject you. You have to be the one to walk away. During these times, God may be testing you to build your trust in Him higher. If you read the Bible, you know that God will never leave or forsake you, and that He will always fulfill His promises. Now stand on that and meditate on those things that God had done in your life.

God will speak again at the right time.

I pray today that you will know God’s presence in your life; that you will trust God is with you; that you will meditate on what God has done for you; and that you will remember all that God has done.

Psalm 22:1-2 Feeling Alone

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest. Psalm 22:1-2

David had been crying out to God for deliverance from all of his enemies. As he cried out, he felt as though God was silent and would not answer him. The feeling was to the level of feeling like God had abandoned him. Later in this psalm, David says he will still proclaim God’s righteousness and continue to trust in Him. These are the same words that Jesus proclaimed several thousand years later as He was dying on the cross.

As people go throughout their life, there are times when they feel as though they are completely on their own, and that no one else cares. This often occurs while they are surrounded by a lot of people. There does not seem to be a connection with anyone. Many will commit suicide because they feel so alone and helpless.

Believers can feel the same way at times. They may be going through an extremely difficult time and are crying out to God day and night, with no answer. God is silent and does not appear to care.

It is not that God does not care, but that it is not time for Him to act or speak. God is still in control of everything that is happening. You must continue to trust that God knows what He is doing. Trust that God is righteous and will do nothing wrong.

Instead of focusing on the problems you are facing and that God is not answering them, focus on how good God is. Focus on telling others what Jesus has done for you and can do for them. Focus back on what God has done in the past.

As you do these things, you will be trusting God and giving God the glory and praise. Complaining will not do anything, trust will allow everything.

Even though you may feel alone, Jesus will never leave or forsake you. He is still right by your side at all times, even in your darkest hours of life.

I pray today that you will know the presence of God in your life; that you will trust God when you can’t feel Him; that God will fill you with His peace; and that you will proclaim God’s goodness to everyone.

2 Kings 6:17 Open Eyes

And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17

The king of Aramea was trying to attack the Israelites. Every time he made a plan, God revealed that plan to Elisha, who then revealed it to the Israelites. The king of Aramea then sent an army out to kill Elisha. Elisha’s servant saw the army coming and was scared because there were so many. He told his servant not to be afraid because there were more with him then with the enemy and asked God to open his eyes. Once his eyes were open, he could see a large host of chariots of fire all around them.

It is easy for a person to think that there is more of the enemy than of friendly people. This becomes especially true when you look at enemies of Christians. Very few, if any, nations, as a whole, are Christian and serve God. All around sin is promoted openly and freely as the best way to live.

Often, many Christians feel like they are the only believers in their workplace. They feel like they are all alone against the devil and those with him.

While it is very true that there is a very large army out there against every follower of Jesus, there are more with the believer. God has legions of angels there by the side of every believer.

As a believer, you also have God and all of His angels on your side. There are many physical enemies and physical friends, but the majority are those not seen, the spiritual enemy and spiritual friends.

The only way you can see your help is with spiritual eyes. God has to open your spiritual eyes to see who is with you. God is with you, along with all the angels of heaven.

When things are looking bad, and the enemy looks like he is going to beat you down and win, open your eyes to who God is and what He can do. God has more angels than there are people on this earth, here to help when needed. God is also more powerful than anyone on or off this earth. He can help you in all of your needs. Trust Him today.

I pray today that God will open your eyes to see His hand in your life; that God will remove your fear of the enemy; that you will trust God in your situations in life; and that God will do miracles in your life.
