And I said, “This is my anguish; but I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.” I will remember the works of the Lord; surely I will remember Your wonders of old. Psalm 77:10-11
During a time in which a person is going through a difficult time, it is very difficult to have any hope. It often feels as if everyone has abandoned and ran away. While going through that hard time, people will often remember the good times in the past and times when others ran to help out in previous hard times.
Asaph had been going through a hard time in which God appeared to be silent. He then says that he will remember the time of God’s right hand and His works and wonders that He had done in the past.
Everyone goes through hard times in which they feel all alone and abandoned. This occurs for both believers and non-believers. As people are going through this type of trouble, many in the world will turn to drugs, alcohol or some other type of self-satisfying thing to take their mind off of their troubles and attempt to give them hope. They have no real hope.
Believers will go through the same struggles at times. Instead of turning to sinful things or self-satisfying things, they will cry out to God. Sometimes God will remain silent and appear to be gone out of the picture. Some will then abandon God out of anger and frustration and turn to the world. Instead of abandoning
God, believers need to remember what God had already did in their past. Everyone who is a believer will be able to remember some things that God had helped with. This can give hope that God, who once had done something, can do it again.
As you go through your life, there will be times of trouble in which God appears to have left you. You will cry out to God for help, only for Him to be silent.
Do not lose hope but keep your faith in God. Think back to all the times God has already helped you. Read the Bible and see how many times people cried out to God and after a time He finally helped them. Talk about the blessings God has given you in your past and know that God will not fail in the end. It will give you strength to continue through the hard times.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will turn to God first in your difficult times; that you will remember what God has done in the past; and that you will have hope that God will take care of you in your times of trouble.
