1 Chronicles 28:9 How To Not Get Rejected

Woman seeking God

“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.” 1 Chronicles 28:9

Rejection occurs a lot in this world. People want to do something or get something and they are rejected for one reason or another. Many people suffer greatly from being rejected because of circumstances outside of their own control or because of past choices made.

Getting rejected discourages many people from continuing to try. They want to give up and quit.

As David was nearing his death, he gave some last advice to Solomon, his son. He told Solomon to serve God with all of his heart and to always seek God. As he does these things, he will never be rejected.

While churches can be filled with people, not everyone in the church is seeking God with a whole heart. Many are divided in the heart on serving God, self and this world. They often want the best of both worlds, that of God’s and the world’s.

God can see into the heart of a person and understand what the person is saying or doing. Just going to church and saying a few words, does not make a person a true believer in God or one serving with the whole heart. Selfishness and jealousy often play a role in what a person does.

Serving God can easily be about saving self for self’s sake, rather than about love for God. People often feel that they cannot find what God wants of them. It is because they are not really seeking God with their whole heart. They only want to see or hear parts of God and His word.

When you seek God with all of your heart, you will find Him. He wants to be found. But if you choose to seek Him with only a part of your heart, you will not find Him and will be rejected.

Take time to dedicate everything in you to serve God. Seek His wisdom and direction for your life and don’t back down from it. As you do that, God will guide you and lead you. He will not reject you.

To choose this world, is to reject God. To reject God, is to be rejected for eternity. Don’t get rejected.

I pray today that you will seek God with all of your heart; that you will serve God with all of your life; that you will not be rejected by God; and that your life will be wholly devoted to God.

1 Chronicles 22:19 Commitment To Seek God

Reading Gods word

Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the LORD your God. Begin to build the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the sacred articles belonging to God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD. 1 Chronicles 22:19

Being devoted to something means that one will give his full attention and all his efforts to it. Very few people are fully devoted to anything. Most things are held with a loose hand, ready to let it go and move on to something else.

In the business world, contracts are often written up with many clauses to excuse continuing the work. Devotion will continue going forward, regardless of what is occurring. It is being committed all the way to the end, at any cost.

Marriages often end in divorce, because one or both of the couple are not fully devoted to the marriage. They see events or actions as a way out from the agreement.

As David was nearing the end of his life, he had provided all the materials needed for his son to build the temple. He told Solomon to devote his heart and soul to seeking after God. In doing this, he would be able to build the temple and have a great kingdom.

Just as the does not like to be fully committed to things, many believers are not fully devoted to God. They go to church on Sunday and worship, but then on Monday are living like the world. They seek God when in an emergency, but ignore Him in times of prosperity.

Devotion to God means that one will seek God all the time in every situation, both good and bad. Every action, word or thought will be done with God in mind. Everything in his heart and soul is focused on pleasing God, not for salvation, but out of love and devotion to God for what He has done for him.

Take a look at your life and see what are you devoted to. What do you put all of your time and attention into?

Seeking after God will bring you peace, strength, comfort, joy, and eternal life. God’s heart is a heart of love. God only wants what is best for you, so seek what He has for you. Focus your life on loving and serving God with everything that is within you.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will seek after God with all of your heart; that you will commit your life to serving God; and that you will not seek anything but God.

1 Kings 15:3 Not Fully Devoted

Dog looking up

He committed all the sins his father had done before him; his heart was not full devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his forefather had been. 1 Kings 15:3

Being devoted to someone or something is to show a very high level of love for and loyalty to that someone or something. Some people are very highly devoted to some things, while not fully devoted to other things.

There are people who are so devoted to a football team, or some other sport, that they will never miss watching a game, will purchase as much as they can of their stuff and talk about them all the time. Spending money to see the team play is easy for them to do. Putting aside work, family and God is a common thing to do, in order to watch the game.

Others are devoted to their jobs, or some other hobby, or something else. Whatever they are devoted to, they put it ahead of everything else.

While many people are devoted to something, there are also a lot of things that people are not devoted to. They do their work, but are not fully devoted to it, because they will cut corners and cheat the system.

Abijah had become king of Judah and followed all the sins of his father. His heart was not fully devoted to God. He knew of God and claimed to follow God, but would not do all that God had said to do.

Not being fully devoted to God is a common problem for many believers. They love God on Sundays or when they need God’s help, but the rest of the time they live for themselves. Some may not live in horrible sinful ways, but they are still not following God. They are not sold out on obeying God in every area of their lives.

As a believer you have committed your life to God. This means you need to be fully devoted to God and His ways. Everything you do should be focused on God and His kingdom.

Do not allow yourself to turn towards sin and this world. Keep your focus on God. As your heart is fully devoted to God, you will not turn towards sin or this world. You will flee sinful acts and the evil ways of this world.

What is your heart devoted to today? Is it the temporary things of this world or God?

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that your whole heart and life will be devoted to God; that you will be faithful to God; and that you will live to serve God and build His kingdom.

Jeremiah 2:1-2 Do You Still Have First Love?

The word of the LORD came to me: “Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem: “This is what the LORD says: “‘I remember the devotion of your youth, how as a bride you loved me and followed me through the wilderness, through a land not sown.'” Jeremiah 2:1-2

When a person is in love to the point of getting married, he is usually in head over heels in love with the bride. The bride is also madly in love with the groom at the point of getting married.

Both of them look at each other as the greatest in the world, that there can be no fault in the other. They desire to spend time together, doing anything and everything together. Often the things they do will include doing crazy little things together. All of this is because of love.

The first months together as a married couple will be seen as fully devoted to each other. They will follow each other everywhere one goes, regardless of how hard it is. This is first love devotion.

The sad part is that many marriages do not stay that way. Many, and often within the first year to two years, fall out of that first love for each other. They begin to get discontented with each other. Many begin to wonder what they ever saw in each other and why they loved each other.

God is looking at Israel in these verses and remembering their first love for Him. They started off dedicated to Him and following Him everywhere. Israel had forgotten their first love and dedication to God. The chose to not follow Him any more.

Take a good look at your life. Remember back to when you first chose to follow God. Think of the reasons why you chose to follow God. Think about how much love you had for God and what you would do for Him at that time.

Is that love for God still the same?

Or have you allowed your love for God to fall away?

Many people, like Israel, have chosen to let their crazy love for God to calm down. They are no longer madly in love with God and begin to not follow Him everywhere He goes.

Renew your first love and devotion to God. Make Him first and foremost in your life, and start following Him again through the wilderness of this life.

I pray today that you will remember your first love for God; that you will be dedicated to God; that you will follow God everywhere; and that you will tell others of your love for God.
