Galatians 1:6 Are You A Deserter?

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel. Galatians 1:6

A person who chooses to leave his post during a battle is a deserter. It is giving up or going over to the enemy’s side during a battle.

Very few people like a person who is a deserter. Soldiers in the army who choose to desert during a battle are punished with some of the highest forms of punishment. At one time, they were even killed for deserting their post.

As Paul opens his letter to the Galatians, he immediately talks about how he could not believe that some were deserting Jesus for a different gospel.

At the moment a believer chooses to follow Jesus, he is enlisted into the army of God and is put into a battle for his life and the lives of others. There is only one way to be in this army and that is through the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is by the grace of Christ that one is allowed to be in God’s army.

The gospel of Christ is the only way and the only truth. However, many in the church, after being a believer, have chosen to follow a different gospel. Many have chosen to call things that God calls sin as though it was not sin. Some have chosen to believe that there are other ways to God besides Jesus. Some have chosen to continue to sin, because God will forgive them.

Making the choice to believe in things that are not from God as though they are, is deserting Christ and following a different gospel or truth. It is choosing to side with the enemy–the world. It is denying Christ, something a true believer would never do.

If you have chosen to believe in and follow Jesus, you are now in God’s army and there is only one way to live. That way is by the commands of God. God is your supreme commander and with only one truth to follow.

Do not allow yourself to be deceived by the world to cause you to desert Christ so that you may live in sin. Do not live a lie, but live by the truth of Christ–the gospel message.

You are a soldier in God’s army, will you become a deserter?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the truth of Jesus; that you will remain faithful in God’s army; that you will not desert God’s truth; and God will open your eyes to the deception of the enemy.

2 Corinthians 13:8 Stand For The Truth

For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. 2 Corinthians 13:8

Truth, for many throughout the world, is something that is considered relative. It depends upon the person, his beliefs, and the circumstances as to what is truth.

With this type of thinking, many are able to do things that are against the truth. There is a common refusal to believe that there is absolute truth and that one may know the absolute truth. As a result, those who believe in an absolute truth are ridiculed and put down.

Paul stated that he cannot do anything against the truth.

Standing for the truth is something that can be very difficult and costly at times. When the majority of those around a person is against the truth, it can hurt to go against the flow and stand for the truth.

One thing that makes a believer unique is that he is following Jesus, who claimed that He IS truth. Everything that Jesus and God has stated in the bible is full and complete truth. The bible has the answer of truth for every situation a person may face in this life.

The world is trying to pitch lies that there is no God, that one can have ‘fun’ and enjoy life without the restrictions God places upon man. Any believer who chooses to believe and follow the ways of the world is choosing the do something against the Truth–Jesus.

Each and every sin that a person may choose to do, is doing something against the truth. It is not living as God had intended one to live.

Although a believer may slip up and sin once in a while, it will not be his intended purpose to do so. He will strive to live as Jesus did and not do anything against Him. He will stand for The Truth.

Going through your life you have choices to make. God has revealed His truth to you in various ways. Now it is your choice as to whether you will live in that truth or live against it.

Knowing God’s word to you, ask yourself if what you are thinking, saying or doing is going against His truth or not.

Make it a conscious choice to not do anything against Jesus. Live your entire life in honor of Jesus because of what He did for you on the cross.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s truth in your life; that you will apply God’s truth to your life; and that you will never do anything against God’s truth.

2 Corinthians 12:15 How Much Will You Give Of Yourself For Others?

So I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well. If I love you more, will you love me less? 2 Corinthians 12:15

Normally people give of themselves in order to get something in return. They are more than willing to go the extra mile when there is a huge benefit for themselves in the end.

Sometimes that benefit may be physical benefits, such as money, while other times it is social/emotional benefits, such as accolades from others. Either way it is often for personal reasons that a person gives of themselves to another.

Paul reveals his concern for the Corinthians. He tells them that he is very willing to give completely of himself and everything he has for their benefit.

Jesus gave one hundred percent of Himself, when He died upon the cross, for each and every person to save them. He did not hold anything back that might be needed. And this was done while the people still hated Him and wanted nothing to do with Him.

Believers need to have the same attitude when being a witness for Jesus. However, many in the church are being just like those in the world, wanting the self praises of people. They will do ministry and reaching out to people, but they do the absolute minimum possible.

Some will hold back their best, because they are more concerned about themselves, than they are of others. As this is done, the world sees and understands that the believer really does not care for them.

When a believer gives of all he has, both physically and emotionally, the world will see it. They will see the love of God through that believer. In seeing that selfless love, people will choose to follow Christ.

As a believer God will always open doors for you to give of yourself and what you have in order to be a witness to others. You have a choice as to how much you are willing to give.

Be willing to give one hundred percent of yourself and what you have to reach the lost. As you give of yourself, God will pour back into you everything that you need and more.

Just as Jesus gave of Himself, and then God restored Him and exalted Him above all, so God will also restore you and raise you up. Do it with a willing and joyful heart.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will love as God loves; that you will give of yourself to reach others for Jesus; that God will meet all of your needs; and that God’s kingdom will grow through you.
