Pray for Brazil
Brazil’s evangelism has grown from around 2 million in the early 1960s to about 55 million currently. It has become a nation that has one of the largest populations of evangelicals in the world. All over the nation prayer meetings and large gatherings of believers are common.
Although it is a strong Christian nation, there is a lot of poverty throughout the land. People are exploited for slave labor due to debts owed. Crime is extremely high. In 2020, the homicide rate was about 120/day, which was the lowest in 15 years. It is also a nation that has one of the highest rates of drug use in the world.
One of the common challenges among the churches is the mixture of spiritism with Christian belief. Many still hold to spiritists beliefs while believing in Christ. This is caused by lack of spiritual growth. Discipleship remains low, causing a failure in proper belief and lifestyle despite the high numbers of people in the church.
Less than 12% of the churches are active in working to meet the physical needs of their community. Very few will also send out missionaries around the world. Their focus tends to be on building their own church.
Points to pray:
Hearts of churches to do outreach ministries
Desire to send out missionaries
Breaking of bondage to drugs
Discipleship of new believers
Training of new leaders
