Pray for El Salvador

El Salvador had been under extreme civil war for many years, until that ended in 1992. Although there is no longer civil war, there is extreme political corruption in the government. Change in leadership occurs quite often.

The largest struggles El Salvador has to deal with are poverty and gang violence. About 23% of the people live below the poverty level. Money is often sent out of the country to their people working in other countries. Gang violence is so high that it keeps their murder rates near the top for world statistics.

During the 1990s, the church was able to establish several thousand churches throughout the land. Due to lack of proper discipleship, many of these churches have struggled to survive or grow. Many cannot afford to get the needed training to be able to effectively lead a church.

The name “El Salvador” means “The Savior.” The people need to learn that Jesus is the Savior, the only way and turn to Him for wisdom and guidance in their lives.

Points to pray:
Discipleship of new believers
Training of new leaders in the church
Godly leadership in the government
Removal of gang violence
Hearts turned towards God
Financial provision for the churches
