Pray for Columbia

Columbia is a nation that has a long history of violence in its past. Political and drug violence has claimed the lives of many thousands of people, leaving behind thousands of orphans and widows. Many who have left the drug and guerilla warfare lifestyles struggle with how to live life outside of those realms, causing many to live in extreme poverty.

The Catholic church has been a huge influence on the people, though most hold to their faith very nominally. Evangelical churches have seen a large growth in believers. Many have left the drug and guerilla life to become a believer, causing the church to become a target to extreme violence and hatred. Missionaries are targets and have to deal with many threats on a regular basis.

With the many new believers, they are seeking to be taught and trained to be leaders in churches. Several biblical schools are available but are desperate for teachers. Nearly half of the population is under the age of 25. Reaching the youth and showing them the alternative to Marxism and atheism is a great need.

Several organizations have set up to reach the people with food, shelter, clothing and the spread of the gospel message.

Points to pray:
Protection for believers
Provision for missionaries
Strength for new believers
Opening of the eyes of the youth to God’s truth
Breaking of the drug and guerilla warfare occurring
Unity among the various churches
Salvation among all the people
