Helping others out who are in danger can often be very dangerous. People tend to shy back from helping those in danger because they do not want any trouble or harm to themselves. Instead of helping, many will quickly call 911, if they do anything at all. It is left up to the professional ER teams to help rescue others in danger.
Abram had heard that Lot and many others were captured and so he took several hundred trained servants to pursue the captors and rescue everyone.
It is rare to hear of a person who goes out of the way to help or rescue someone in trouble. It is even more rare when doing a rescue is extremely dangerous and could cost one’s life. As much as people are concerned for others welfare, people are more concerned about their own personal wellbeing.
Believers can also fall into this same trap of feeling concern for their own lives over the lives of others. All around every believer are people who are captured by sin and death. Satan and this world have captured their hearts and are entrapping them in a path that leads to death. Too many believers remain quiet and at home.
Every believer, regardless of age and gender, has the ability to rescue some of those people. Opportunities abound to be a witness to those captured of what Jesus has done for each and every one of them. It is their testimony that may point the captured to God and give God the opportunity to touch their hearts and draw them to Him, rescuing them from the life of sin and death.
No matter where you live there are people all around you who are caught in the web of sin and death that this world promotes. God is ready to give you opportunities to be a witness of His great love to these people. Grab your armor of God and go do battle against the evil forces of this world that has entrapped billions in sin. Share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all you can so that some may be rescued. Trust God for your protection and strength as you be His witness.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to those around you who are captured in sin; that God would open doors to share the gospel message with people; that you would brave and bold enough to rescue people with the Gospel message; and that God would rescue many from sin through your testimony.
