At one point it was a nation that exported food to other nations, but now cannot provide enough food for its own people. The value of their money has dropped so low that people generally use money from other nations to purchase what is needed. Many flee the nation to work in other countries around the world.
Healthwise, the nation has one of the world’s worst number of cases of HIV/AIDS victims.
Corrupt political pressure is placed upon churches to not speak against the government. Persecution against the church is great when there is talk against the all the corruption that is occurring.
