Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14
Having personal rights is the desire of everyone. People will quickly push what their rights are and demand that others accept them. Those rights are often given by some government regulations as to what is or is not allowed. Some will try to find ways to get around what the government allows and demand more rights than are allowed.
Looking at the very end of time, John says that those who do what God commands are blessed because they will be given the right to the tree of life and be able to enter into the city.
The world believes that everyone is entitled to everything with no questions about it. Requirements are often seen as limitations and prejudicial against certain groups. Rules are ignored or there are ways found to circumnavigate around the rule to get what one wants.
As a result, many believe that anyone can believe anything and do anything and still be able to get into heaven. Some churches will teach that one can believe in any god and still be allowed into heaven.
God has given the rule to get into heaven. There is only one command that one must do in order to get into heaven. That rule is to repent of sins and believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior. This is done by faith in Jesus Christ as a work by God, not self. Jesus is the gate into the city of heaven.
The moment one does believe what Jesus did that person is given the right to the tree of life–eternal life–and is allowed into heaven.
In whatever nation you live in there are many rules that must be followed in order to have the rights that you do have. To live in God’s kingdom there is only one rule that must be obeyed. That rule is to repent of your sins and believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. In His great love God will then remove those sins and give you access to the tree of life giving you eternal life. He will allow you to enter into heaven for all eternity.
Do you have the right to the tree of life and to enter the gates of the city?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will repent of your sins before God; that you will believe in what Jesus did for you; that you obey the command of God; and that God will give you the right to the tree of life and the gates of heaven.
