For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. Hebrews 8:12
Showing mercy is often seen as a weakness. Maximum judgement on the wrong that others have done is desired. While that judgement on others is demanded, nearly everyone wants to have mercy shown to themselves for the wrongs that they had done. No one really wants to be punished, but desires to be forgiven and given another chance to do what is right, while being unwilling to show that same type of mercy to others.
The author of Hebrews writes that God says He will be merciful towards all the sin and wrongs that they had done and not remember any of their sins anymore.
The world fully understands and believes in the fact that if someone does something wrong punishment must occur. How that punishment looks and who gives it becomes the difficult challenge in this world. Many want to be the one to give the punishment, while others want the government to inflict the punishment.
Flipping that view, God does not desire to punish. He is out to change people and show mercy. Unlike the world, every wrong that a person does against God has a punishment requirement of death. It has no bearing as to how little or big the sin is. Yet, in God’s great love, He does not want to punish but is ready to forgive and forget for all eternity the wrongs that were done.
Unlike the world, believers recognize how horrible their sin is and struggle with being forgiven. Believers must be willing to accept God’s great mercy and know that they are forgiven, no matter how great the sin is or how many sins there are. God is a God of mercy and love.
Throughout your life you have made many mistakes and needed the mercy of others to help you move forward. People may or may not have shown you the mercy you desired. God is ready to show you the perfect mercy and forgive you of everything you have done wrong against Him. Repent of your sins and trust Him to remove them and forget them for all eternity. Lean on His great mercy as you allow Him to change you and make you into a new creation as one of His children, clean and pure before Him.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s great love for you; that you will know God’s mercy towards you; and that you will know God is ready to forgive you of all your sins.
