Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Galatians 3:5
Every job that a person works requires some type of work by the person in order to get paid. If a person does not work, the person will not get paid. Getting paid without working is gift that is not earned. Although people love gifts, most people desire to be able to earn what they receive. Pride gets in the way to cause them to keep them from taking something that is freely given.
Paul asks the Galatians a question that whether God provides His Spirit and miracles to them because of their works of the law or by the hearing of faith.
Getting something for free is a desire of many people. However, if all they are getting is free things, people tend to begin to believe that they have no value. They did not earn what they are getting. Pride steps in and causes them to want to work for something to have a reason to receive what has been given.
Inside the church this type of problem can be often found. Many people choose to strive to obey rules and regulations on being a Christian to gain God’s love and acceptance. They do ministry in the church so that God will maybe do a miracle in their life, trying to look good to God.
God has given the free gift of salvation to those who believe. The only thing required is repentance of sins and acceptance of the gift by believing what Jesus said and did. When people follow the law to gain God’s approval, they are failing and rejecting what Jesus did. Believers need to believe what Jesus did and accept what God has for them, not try to earn it.
In order to receive a paycheck, you must work to earn it. In God’s kingdom you do not have to work in order to get the benefit. All that you need to do is believe in Jesus and follow Him and then accept what God blesses you with. As you believe God, He will pour out blessings upon you with His Holy Spirit and miracles. Do not strive to earn what God gives you. You will never be able to earn it. Just accept it by faith as a gift.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the blessings God is giving you; that you will have faith in God providing all you need; that God will reveal ways you strive to earn His love and gifts; and that God will do great and mighty things in you through your faith in Him.
