Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. 1 Corinthians 15:34
Over the last several years, being woke is something that is talked about across the nation. According to some, people are being woke up to racism, LGBTQ+ lifestyles, political issues, climate control and many other issues. Their wokeness is being woke to living in sin and believing the deception of one-world government push. People take great pride in the fact that they are now woke to all types of issues in the nation and are willing to rewrite history to follow their woke views.
Paul had been talking about belief in the resurrection. Now he tells the Corinthian church to wake up to righteousness and stop sinning. He calls some out for not having the knowledge of God.
Satan is out to lie, steal and kill everyone on this earth. In order to do that, he will use any deception to get people to follow his ways. While many people feel that they are woke to various issues, most are sleeping to reality. Their eyes are blinded, and they are running hard after sin and sinful ways, thinking that they are doing what is good and right.
Actions like this are also occurring in many churches. People who claim to be believers are asleep to the reality of sin in their lives and churches. Sin is being accepted as good.
Believers are to be woke to how to live righteously before God and people. Rather than seeking ways to sin or get as close to sin without sinning as possible, believers are to run towards God’s righteousness. They are to find ways to live the holy and righteous lives that Jesus paid the price for them to be able to live.
It is easy for you to see how people claim to be woke to many different issues. You may even make some of those same claims. Rather than focusing on how to sin more and more, turn your focus upon the holiness and righteousness of God. Wake up to how you can live a more righteous and holy life. Jesus paid for your sins and has given you life. The Holy Spirit has been given to you to show you how to live for God.
Are you still sleeping? Or are you awake to God’s righteousness?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to sin in your life; that God will open your eyes to how to live the Holy and righteous life He has called you to live; and that God will strengthen you to turn from all sin.
