Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? 1 Corinthians 14:36
Having inside information about something is the desire of many. It can give one power over others with the knowledge available. When everyone knows the information, one individual cannot use that information over others. Some believe that they have special knowledge which makes them special and above others. Over time there have been many cults and dangerous groups that have formed and harmed many people due to someone holding special knowledge and not being held accountable.
As Paul was talking about tongues and prophesy, he asks the Corinthians if God’s word came from them originally or if it only reached them and no one else.
Religious leaders have risen up throughout the centuries who have claimed to have received a message from some god or God. Using that message, some have started religious groups, some of which grew worldwide, while others were just small groups.
This did not just occur outside the church and with completely false beliefs. Many leaders in the church have tried to say that they have a special word from God that no one else could possibly know. Often it is knowledge outside the message of the bible and goes against what God’s word already says.
Believers need to be careful in bringing God’s message to the world. It has to line up with the revealed word of God and is to be for everyone, not just for self.
God is seeking the lost and wants everyone to be saved, not just a small select group. He will use anyone available and willing to be used to bring His gospel message to those who are lost and dying.
There will come times in which God wants to speak to others through you using His word. Do not allow pride to enter your heart and mind in thinking that God’s word only comes through you or just to you. God can use others and He can use you to get His message out to the world.
Make yourself available to God to speak His word so that those who are lost and dying can be given the opportunity to know Jesus, and that other believers can be built up and encouraged in His word.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will hear God’s word that needs to be spoken; that you will be bold in speaking God’s word; that you will give all an opportunity to hear God’s message; and that God will draw many to Jesus through you.
