Luke 8:11 Scatter The Seed

This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11

When a farmer is planting a large field, he will scatter seeds everywhere on that field. The purpose is to get as much seed out so that he can get as many plants as possible, to have the greatest harvest possible.

In the same way, when a person has some great information or something to sell, he will scatter the news out in whatever means possible. He may use social media sources, news resources, ads online and in flyers, billboards, or whatever else it takes to get the information out.

Jesus had given a parable about a farmer scattering seeds. Afterwards He stated that the seeds were the word of God.

While the world is scattering seeds all the time to sell things and lifestyles, the believer must also be scattering some seeds. The seeds that the believer must scatter is God’s word.

The best way to scatter God’s word around is to use it in one’s general talking everyday. Incorporate God’s word in one’s day-to-day conversations.

Too many believers do not use God’s word daily. Often this is because they have not been in it and do not know it. They are also afraid of offending someone.

Using God’s word does not necessarily mean that one has to say ‘Thus saith the Lord in such and such a verse’ every time they speak. It is just incorporating His words, truths and teachings in one’s daily conversations.

As this is done all the time, everywhere, some will accept it and others will reject it. However, the more seed scattered broadly, the greater the chance of more people accepting Jesus as their Savior.

No one can accept Jesus, unless they hear about Him. And they cannot hear, unless someone tells them.

You have some knowledge of God’s word as a believer. Instead of holding it in or just talking about it on Sundays at church, scatter it about everywhere you go.

Take every opportunity you can to use God’s word in your conversations. Do not hold back letting others know what God’s word says about each and every situation met with.

The world desperately need to hear God’s word–the Truth. They need to hear about Jesus and what He has done for them.

Scatter the seed and allow God to do His work in growing that seed.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God’s word in your heart; that you will speak God’s word to all you meet; and that God will use His word through you to build His kingdom.

Ezekiel 37:4 Hear God’s Word

Human skull

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!'” Ezekiel 37:4

People like to talk and people like to be heard. However, there is a difference between listening to and being heard. With so much talking going on with so many different people and things, there is often too much noise to really hear what one is saying.

Along with all the noise, people are too busy to stop and really listen and hear what someone else is saying. People pass in a store asking how a person is doing, but rarely stop to hear how the person is really doing. The answer often falls upon deaf ears.

God told Ezekiel to prophesy to some dead bones lying on the ground. Those bones were to hear the word of God, whatever that was.

God is still in the speaking business. He wants to tell the world something and most are too busy to listen. They are dead in their ways of doing things and refusing to take a moment to listen. Their ears are as though they are dead men, hearing nothing.

Being stuck in sinful ways is to be a living dead person. One is dead to what God is saying. This can even occur within the church. Every week millions of people go to church, but never really hear what is being said. They do not act upon what God’s word tells them to do, not do and what to be like.

Just as with the bones in the valley with Ezekiel, believers need to wake up and hear the word of God. God was telling those bones to come to life, and God is telling people to come to life today. Every believer is to put off all sin and live the life Jesus is giving them.

You can ask yourself how well are you listening to God’s word. By this, are you doing what God’s word says to you? Or are you staying dead and not hearing what He is saying?

Jesus came to give you life and life abundantly. However, for you to enjoy that abundant life, you must accept what God has for you. In other words, you must listen to what God tells you and act upon it. Serve God with your whole life, not just a part. Really live for God and not be dead bones anymore.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be alive to God; that you will hear God’s word; that you will act upon God’s word; and that obey God’s every word to you.
