Acts 21:14 God’s Will Be Done

So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.” Acts 21:14

Watching someone make a choice that does not make sense or sounds extremely dangerous is difficult for most people. No one wants to see others put themselves into extreme danger without trying to warn them or stop them. People will sometimes go to extreme lengths to stop a person from making what they see as a bad choice, yet they are not always able to stop the person. They do not see or feel what the other person sees or feels.

Luke records in Acts how the people wanted to stop Paul from going to Jerusalem because of the danger there. As he persisted on going, they gave up trying to stop him and said they would allow God’s will to be done in the matter.

Standing on the outside of a situation, things will always look different. All one can see is what is physically seen and cannot see the inner workings of the heart and mind.

Choices are often made that don’t always make sense because one cannot see what brought on that choice. Other circumstances or issues that lead one to make the choice are unseen.

Walking with God will cause one to have to make choices that do not always make sense to others, both in the church and outside the church. The world will never understand the choices made by the believer, because they do not believe in God at all.

Instead of telling one to not make the choice, as long as it is not sinful, believers need to leave it up to the will of God. They must understand that God does lead His people into dangerous situations in order to get His will done and all believers must be willing to walk that path.

Doing God’s will should be your highest priority in your own life. At the same time, you should desire that all others are doing God’s will also at all times. Allow God to lead others in the way He sees needed and trust that His desire is done in His way and time. This trust must occur even when moving forward looks dangerous and insane. As one does this, you will be able to see God do mighty works in the lives of people and change whole cities and nations.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will trust God’s ways of working in the lives of others and yourself; that you will seek to always do what God desires; and that you will encourage others to do what God desires.
