Control: Exposing the Truth About Guns
Glenn Beck, a nationally known radio talk show host and a founder of a television network, takes a detailed look at the history of guns and gun control in America. In this book, he does not write in official chapters, but in sections using a common statement that was made, along with a quote or two that goes in line with the statement.
Some of the statements that he looks at are: “guns are lethal”, “but other controls have strict gun control and very few murders”, and “keeping a gun at home is pointless.” With each statement he quotes various people. Some are writers, politicians, actors, mayors, presidents and many more.
One of the things he looks at is the constitution of the United States and the right to bear arms and what that looks like and meant. As he does this, he goes into depth the many statements that people made in pushing for more gun control. Once he does this, he breaks down the statements and, often, lack of logic in their statements or how the statement is slanted with looking at only a small part of the larger picture.
Glenn uses many different studies on guns, gun control and murder by guns in America and around the world. According to Glenn Beck there should be less gun control and more training by parents. He points out statistics that show that violent games often lead to violent crimes with guns. He is also able to show how having less gun control has actually led to less crimes involving guns.
No where in this book does Glenn point to part of the problem with guns is sin, but he does say it is a morality problem. He is strong opponent to strict gun control. Throughout the book, he shows very well how strict gun control leads to dictatorship and a loss of private rights.
If you are interested in guns or gun control, whether for or against it, I highly suggest you read this book. He will challenge a lot of what are common statements about guns that are false in reality.
One negative about this book is that he does not take God or His word into any consideration as a part of the problem with deaths by guns in America. Personally, I believe that sinful man without God will lead to murders by guns or anything else available. I am also one, though I don’t own a gun, believe in the right of a person to own one and am very against gun control.
