Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, Luke 18:1
Giving up is something that is easy for many to do. Those that make it through very difficult and hard situations had made up their mind ahead of time to not give up. They will do whatever it takes to keep moving forward and succeed at the task that they had set their heart on accomplishing. This dedicated focus is what often makes the difference between a mediocre person and a highly successful person in the world.
Luke records that Jesus began to speak to the people a parable about how men should always keep praying and not lose heart or give up.
Starting something is what many will do. One will begin a task and keep doing it until one hits a roadblock and slows them down. Then many will quit and turn a different direction, giving up on the original task or dream. It is easier to lose heart and quit than to push through to success.
One of the things that believers are told to begin and keep pushing through on without ever giving up is prayer.
Most believers are good about going to God for something in prayer. However, when God does not immediately answer, many quit praying and get discouraged thinking that God does not hear or care about them. They honestly don’t expect an answer from God.
The more one has to push through in prayer to God, the more it shows one’s faith in God that He will answer. It is believing that God hears the prayer and will answer in the perfect time and in the perfect way.
One can trust God’s perfect love and wisdom and never lose heart and give up while constantly praying.
Throughout your life there have probably been some times in which you started some difficult task and then quit when there was a roadblock in the way. One of those difficult things may have been times of prayer for some situation. It is easy to begin prayer, but it is difficult and discouraging to keep praying.
Never give up on praying to God for anything, or at least until God says to stop. Keep praying and seeking God in everything. As you continue forward in faith, not losing heart and giving up, God will answer in His way and time.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will always pray to God about everything in your life; that you will never stop praying to God; that you will not get discouraged in waiting for God’s answer to your prayer; and that you will see God answer your prayers.
