And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Agustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Luke 2:1-3
Governments can often make rulings or requirements that are very difficult to follow at times. The timing can be inconvenient and cause many challenges to a person, yet they must be followed. One may wonder why things must be the way they are and miss a bigger picture that is occurring.
Luke writes that Caesar Agustus made a ruling that everyone had to go to their hometown to register. Jospeh had to go to Bethlehem while Mary was pregnant.
Things can often occur in life that make no sense. They are inconvenient and create all types of difficulties with no direct understanding as to why they are happening.
The world will call this bad luck or karma. People will get angry and blame others or God for what is going on. Many may even try to go another direction and take things into their own hands. People in the church often feel the same way at times.
God is in control and is the Master Planner for all that occurs. He is able to use the sinful world to bring about His promises. He makes promises and plans to fulfill them whatever it takes to make it happen.
Believers will often run into struggles that looks like the world is causing. It may feel like God has abandoned the believer. Instead, it may be God working behind the scenes to move the believer to where needed. God used Caesar to move Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem to fulfill the promise of where Jesus was to be born. He can do the same for the believer today.
Difficulties will arise in your life that will cause you to change a planned direction of travel. It may be a difficult physical or non-physical movement. Instead of being upset, look to God for strength. It may be that God is in the process of moving you to fulfill a promise He has made to you. His promises may not always be able to be fulfilled in the spot you are now in. God will use the world to bring about His promises, even if they are inconvenient and difficult for you.
