The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him. Nahum 1:7
Everyone has days, or even months or years, in which they go through times of trouble. Or they are living somewhere where trouble is occurring all around them. Figuring out how to survive and keep moving forward during times of trouble is difficult for many. Knowing which way to turn is often kept hidden, causing fear and great anxiety in the hearts of people.
Nahum writes that God is good and a stronghold in the day of trouble and that He knows those who trust in Him. This was written as He was pouring out judgement upon Ninevah.
Danger appears to be lurking around the corner everywhere one may go. It may be the danger of some sickness or the danger of physical harm. Many live in places where there is a very high crime rate or in places in which war is occurring. Living in days of trouble is common.
During days of trouble the world will turn to drugs, immoral sex, binge eating, or something else to get their minds off of their troubles. They do not know what it will take to have peace in their hearts and to get through the trouble.
Believers are not exempt from having days of trouble or living around it. As the world is going through chaos and trouble, many in the church begin to fear for their own lives.
Instead of living in fear, believers need to put their trust in God. He and His word are a solid foundation and a stronghold that one can stand upon during the days of trouble. One must hold on to His promises and trust God knows what is occurring in one’s life and will pull one through.
You are either going through trouble in your own personal life, or you can see trouble occurring all around you. Life is filled with difficulties. Sometimes it may be that God is pouring out judgement on those around you bringing difficulties near you. Put your trust in God and continue to follow and obey His word. Know that He sees you and will take care of you, no matter what is going on around you. The world may fall apart around you, but God will hold you and keep you as you trust in Him.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will put all of your trust in God; that you will look to God in times of trouble; and that you will remember the promises of God.
